Reputation "points" on AZbillliards

Years ago, when rep meant something, some people just had to be number one. I mean, that seemed to be their goal in life. I felt bad for some folks at that time who seemed upset they couldn't be at the top.

As it is now, Smorgie will always be number one.

Some of the comments on this thread have me shaking my head in disbelief. :embarrassed2:
 
Thanks to all of you who have offered an explanation. I had no idea how the system works. My take on it is that the system is broken. I guess that's too bad for some here. It appears to me that some on this board are way too invested with this. Good luck to you with that.

Agreed 100%. I didn't even know there was a max until this thread. I just heard that it was broken and figured it had to be true when I saw that I had over 2 billion rep points. LOL.

As for whether I have the max or not, I don't really care one way or another. I only ever see them when I go to change my settings or go to compose a PM.

I don't think of it as broken.....it's just another way of communicating.
I've had some hilarious comments come with the greenie.

The times have changed. Yet... Patting someone on the back, or getting patted for a good post is still heartwarming. It's not all broken IMO. I actually think it is better now.
 
I agree that the system isn't completely broken. Obviously a lot of people have reached the max but I still green and red rep if I feel it necessary.

It seems to bother a lot of the trolls that just come on to make others life miserable.

Anyway, last week I received a private message that I accessed through the user cp button. It was then that I noticed that my reputation was nearing 1 Billion. Holy sh!t, I thought. It seemed like a really enormous number. During my 8 years here, I took an extended hiatus. So, I'm quite certain that many members here have billions more rep. The curiosity bug has bitten.

Never thought about it or ???....just checked mine, and had NO idea where to find it, just did, 1,466,098,906....I don't feel any different :eek:

Please imagine the Pawn Stars episode.....there you are with your framed PM....of course they know FatBoy (it is Vegas after all) but they are concerned about authenticity before they make you an offer......so here comes the expert...who cautions the stars that the PM is probably a fake .....you are all shocked and demand to know how the expert can make that determination....and he explains

"no misspellings"

In case you had me in mind, I can assure you I thoroughly enjoy your red reps - everyone else's too.

A red is worth at least 10 green IMO. The red/green paradigm is interesting. I often get three greens and one red for the same post, which seems quite strange. People see what they want to see and disregard the rest.

I just came back yesterday after taking a long break from AZ to deal with my divorce, and it looks as if my rep points match the amount of money my ex-wife asked for in the settlement! 507094974.

Thanks for the rep points on my previous post. You have increased my greenies by 17,608,750! I'm sure you're maxed out as well, but if not, I sent you some greenies as well. Probably only 2 points, but that's all us broke folks can afford!;)
 
I give out 3 or 4 times what I receive. I didn't start posting until a year ago, even though I registered in 2010.

For what it's worth, I have 404,444,665 points and I do enjoy getting rep from my fellow AZBers.

I've yet to red rep anyone, but have viewed hundreds of posts that were worthy of red rep...lol
