I heard he beat Jesse Bowman, Shane in 1 hole, Tedder and Jeanetter. Let's give him the award. No disrespect to Jeanette, but Richie has paid his dues for 25 years. He's a friend of mine, so I might, we'll in fact I am biased, but if the award is for action and enterainment, who's more enteraining than Richie? As a member of the Muskegon crew, we're constantly entertained by Richie, everything he does is funny, scratching his balls, lifting his shirt to reveal in sweet belly, biting his nails so much that he in fact was hospitalized while on the road. I promise you, nobody has more fun talking about Richie than his own boys do. Watch him sometimes, its hilarious. He's not the best player out there, but he can play and he's been out there, entertaining, since the mid 1980's, throw the dude a bone. Did he have a Jersey Shore "Blow-Out" in those pics from DCC?

I like Richie too

He's always in action, or looking to be. And you're right, he is entertaining. A lot of fun to just talk with. I wasn't in the action area as much as most, so I'm not sure I should cast a vote. The award is not a popularity vote, or who's been on the road the longest. It's for action and entertanment at DCC for this year. There seems to be a few more candidates this year, than I recall from last year. Best of luck to Richie in the vote. I think his talent, and friendliness, is good for the game.

Are we talking about Richie Richeson? If so, I harken back to last year at the DCC, hearing Sylver Ochoa refer to Richie's One Pocket game as "garbage".

Hmmmmm...

I wonder what he thought of Anna Kostanian's (sp?) game, after she beat him in the 9 ball division?

What happened to the gentleman gamblers of times gone by?

:D :D :D

No respect. I haven't been around Sylver, but if he said that about Richies game, he's a little nutty. My roommate at DCC, knows a little more about one pocket than me, and he likes Richies one pocket game. I've been around pool for a long time, and I happen to thin Richie plays all games pretty well. Maybe he just got lucky to beat Jesse and Shane at one pocket, {I'll take that bet if it happens again, and bet on Richie}. He banks good, moves great, and has a very competitive game. Lots of knowledge and seasoning. There are guys around who can beat him, he may not be top of the list, but there's a lot of top rated 9 ball players who have NO chance with him in one pocket.

Richies a players player, will match up with Anyone, he kinda reminds me of
Shannon in that respect, "if he can't beat ya, he wants to make a game" and go from there.

exactly

And he will grind out matches too. It takes a player to beat him, and if he matches up with you, you better show a little respect for his game.

Richie plays very good one-pocket. I was at a room in Tampa about 6 years ago and Richie and Buddy Hall were playing 9-ball. They were going back and forth with the money so Richie said lets play some one-pocket for $500 a set. Buddy refused the offer.

Richie is still one of my claims to almost fame in pool. I had him 6-0 in a race to 7 in 9-ball in a tournament in Tampa. I missed and he ran the set out. It took me a few weeks to get over that lol. Johnnyt

PS: I would have won the set if Smorg (TD) would have made me a "B" player instead of an "A" player. He based it on my bar box game. Or he was messing with me. He did that ya know. RIP buddy.

I met Richie at one of the IPT qualifiers and he was fun to be around. He cracked us up all night, he kept woofing at Rafael to play a set of one-pocket and 3-cushion. On the side he kept telling us Rafael had NO chance at one-pocket but the 3-cushion should be even. Rafael won easily in both games and he had us cracking up all night.

Richie can definately play, once in FL, he was giving my buddy 6 and the last 4, and was stuck 14 games at $100 a pop. My buddy breaks dry, Richie runs out, breaks and runs five behind it, breaks plays safe, runs out and breaks and runs 6 more behind that to get even. $100 a game out his own pocket, that was a good performance in my eyes, and he for sure is always entertaining to watch! Even when he was stuck 14 games, he was joking with the rail, and in a good mood. Why would you not want to gamble with him?

I don't know if Richie has his 9 ball stroke about him right now, but I am not sure if he is not supposed to rob Sylver playing even in 9 ball.

Like you said, Richie is gonna play hard no matter what, and is not gonna fall flat just because you get up on him, and it might be hard for Sylver to fade that kind of heat.

Just talked to him

I just talked to him and couldn't get one word in. I think he was disappointed but gracious about losing the award to JL. He said he picked the wrong year to book 10 winners. The only match he lost was the second time he played JL and that was just 2 games loser. He said he generated 50 dimes for the rail. Hopefully people vote for his hard-working ass. He was down 3 games playing 4 ahead with Tedder, got back to even, Scooter woofed to double it, Richie said bet and won 4 straight for the cash.

I understand what you are saying but some of that comes with youth. Some on those gentleman gamblers may have been a little brash in their younger days.

Thats is too bad that he did not win the award, I though Richie deserved it. Nothing else to say about it. Tom

I assume the voting has finished?

It hasn't, but you know that people on the internet make $hit up and run with it all the time. It's never surprising anymore. To me, only insane people could possibly write an entire story, plot, climax, and ending, based solely on one internet post.

I know who is leading the votes and who is in second. But, far be it from me to stop a bad story.

Fred <~~~ will close the polls on Sunday

That was a good match and it looked like Richie was going to take a quick loss but he came back and got the money. I think it was going to be a race to 13 or 15 then Richie says " hell, lets just race to 7 ". Richie was down 4 to 1 if I remember right and when they both got to the hill they made it win by 2 I think, he won the next two games.
