What are you guys using for good quality material that is pure white.
Someone had mentioned that they use Juma for Hoppe rings etc, but that is more an Ivory substitute. I am ordering some material soon and want to include pure white.

Thanks for the help.
Terry.

Elforyn is my favorite Terry. Super nice to machine.

PURE WHITE ?
Not Juma, it's yellow.
Some melamine have ugly grayish crap on them.
Maybe Aegis if you find a clean one.
The only really clear white one I've seen is acrylic that Mali used.
I have some but they are for butt plate sizes.

If there is a legal source for ivory in Canada it would be my first choice. If you find one let me know.

There is and I emailed him a few times re walrus teeth and he had never got back to me. Thanks for the answers and PMs guys. Appreciate it as always.

I used Juma in a segmented jumper.
Really white to me....... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1336178488.062561.jpg

That Juma is white enuff for me Darcy.
Maybe it was the pic on Atlas's site. It looked a little carmel color to me.

Hi,

I agree with Darcy it is a shade of white.

This Juma Hoppe Ring is not pure white but it is not really Ivory colored either. I don't personally like pure white anyway.

Juma is the tits material, IMO. When I used to use all of the other white material for joints and butts it would get dirty just looking at it during a build and you couldn't sand it clean. Very frustrating.

find yourself some whitetail deer antler, a LOT of it has a darker color but with a bit of luck and some work you will find a piece or two that is very white. blades told me he had used peroxide for bleaching it even whiter, i am going to try that this weekend. i tried bleach one time and the following morning i had antler soup. BLEACH WILL MELT ANTLER.
i think antler is the best natural material for ferrules and joints. sheds are renewable and doesn't harn the animals as it is a natural process.

Elforyn is still my go to man made material for white. I currently have a build with black juma. I will definitely give white juma another look also.

Hi,

You could be right about the physical atributes but unfortunately it looks like crap, IMO.

No seriously, I think it looks like crap is because I like to see things that look perfect and consistent on a cue, not "al natural" except for ivory.:love2: I know that there are a lot of people who love it for the play and the look. More power to them. They are just never going to buy one my cues if they want that stuff.

Kinda like what I say to my Deer Hunter friends that offer me their venison. I tell them it tastes like crap and it's gamey. Their reply is Ahh, Hey, you gotta add some pork to it, you bet ya. My response is, you gotta add the pork to the sausage or the stew because, "it taste like crap and it's gamey".

I am not a big nature person so don't take me seriously here. I like to view nature and observe it on TV but if I go camping out doors I would drive up the road to a nice hotel after we sing and toast marshmallows around the fire. I hate sleeping in a tent.:speechless:

I sure glad u told us your are a city slicker, venison taste like the animal it came from. Beef taste like beef and chicken like chicken etc... Every wild game taste like it should. There is no sutch thing as gamey they just have their own flavor. If your friends mix it with pork they just can't handle the true flavor.

People who have not tried using it, don't get it.
This is getting seal coated tonight.

Hi,

I have had venison at "Le Francis" a very famous French restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. I think it was corn feed because it was not gamey at all.

Le Francais (sp) may be off but truly a fabulous restaurant. Have not heard that name in a long time. Thanks for the memories Rick!

For a start, wild game is much healthier than beef or pork.

Moose and Elk, you'd be in for a treat. The only reason that pork butt or suet is mixed with venison, moose or elk is because it is so lean that you need a little fat in it or it will be too dry when cooking it. You only need to do this when making sausage.

Rick, I know a lot of your beef is corn fed. Our beef is grain fed. You'd notice a huge difference even at that.

Me, I used to drive truck to the states quite a bit. When I hit a well known truck stop that served up a good steak, I could care less what the farmer fed it with. All I knew is that I was going to chompin it down real quick.

Anyway, I am going to include a fair amount of Juma in my next order.
I like the look and it is white enuff for my taste.

Thanks for the pics
