RIP Jimmy Reid

Great story about Jimmy

Jimmy and I were great friends in early nineties, there is a great story about Jimmy in my book, The Green Felt Jungle. The story shows you how colorful and entertaining Jimmy was, God rest his soul !

Early 70's....ran into this guy from S. California and he wore white outfits. No good player ever wore white and played for 12 hours straight. :p Got em stuck, running out, he Jimmie'd me. US Open early 90's. Then @ JOB's had em 5-1 going to 11....Jimmie'd me again ran a 9 pack behind it, broke and dbl hooked me....11-5 and out. He had his way with the green felt that's for sure. KB&R and RIP as I know you will, glad to of known you.

Videos, go fund me, ect.

Does anyone know if there is a way we can help with costs or if it would it helpful to his family if we bought his videos. I don't want them to have deal with his business at this point but but might be a good way for folks show to them support and help with costs ect.

Truly sad to hear this but he has had a rough time of it fighting it as well for several years now. RIP Jimmy.

Very sad news. Jimmy was a true all time great, and a really nice guy. Yes, forgot more than most of us will ever know, but he had a passion for teaching and sharing. He'll be missed.

I honestly dreaded reading AZ knowing that I read this post someday sooner than later.

I never met the man in person, and only spoke with him three times over the phone. But you'd never know it if you were listening in on those calls. He talked for a long while and told more than a few good stories.

He was a huge inspiration to me in studying the game's diamond and banking systems - an unknowing mentor - yet somehow I felt as comfortable talking pool with him as I did with guys banging balls around in my league.

Rest in peace.

Knew Jimmy since we were kids and played many times. I have been expecting this for a while. Jimmy was a great player and could put the bite on you with the best of them. Oddly enough he called me maybe a year ago or so. No real reason just said he wondered if the number was still good. We talked for a while and that was about it.

I can only hope he lived a life with no regrets, I am sure he did. Living a life on your own terms is all most of us can ask.

For you Jimmy
Turn it up loud. I am sure Jimmy's answer would be yes. Thanks for the memories Jimmy, so long.

Rest in Peace Mr. Reid. It was a pleasure getting to talk with you even though only through e-mail.

I only discovered jimmy Reid 2 weeks ago. And I signed up here just to express my condolences and say how much I love this guy.

I'm not brand new to pool but I started taking it seriously this summer, learning things here and there, but I'm not one for getting a whole bunch of people's opinions. When I first saw one of jimmy's video's on YouTube 2 weeks ago, I knew he was the guy I wanted to learn from. I literally watched everything I could find before there wasn't anymore and then I did a Google search and discovered his website. I enjoyed his stories so much that 2 days later I did another Google search for him to see what else i'd find and that was September 30th and when I found this thread. I am heart broken. I just got approval to post.

I can only name 3 professional pool players and one of em is a woman, jimmy is by far my favorite and always will be. I'm jealous of all you guys who got to talk to him, meet him and play w him.

RIP hippy jimmy you are remembered
