This is very sad news... John was a very promising NYC player that just passed away. I met John back in 2010. Strong player (A player to Open player) that played on the Predator tour and a couple US Opens. He played with a ton of heart. This is a very bad day for pool. My deepest condolences to all of the NYC players and his family. He will be missed..

He was only 24 years old :sorry:

RIP John :frown:

John Alicea

My sincere condolences go out to the entire Alicea Family!
R.I.P. John.
I still do not believe this.

In memory with his mentor

I was just wondering where this kid has been, have not really seen him since Ginky died. To my knowledge Ginky was his mentor. In this attached video you will see Ginky racking for him to start his Break and run contest.

Anyway very sad, R.I.P.

Yup everytime I saw Ginky John was there. One night at Master Billiards Ginky tired to talk me and my lady to hit up Mahattan with Him John and a couple of others. I declined to stay fresh for the tournament on Sunday. Really wishing now that I took them up on that offer.

Very sad news, indeed. I did not know him, but he was so young; his family and friends must be devastated. Condolences to all - RIP.

Same here. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. Deepest sympathies to his family.

This blows me away. 24 years old, and just starting to show the world how good of a player he is (was). How did this happen?

Knowing how much John admired (and was close with) Ginky, I have a feeling the cause might be similar.

Anyone know?

-Sean <-- really saddened, and offering deepest sympathies to John's friends and family

Too bad, I didn't know him or had even heard of him before your post but when one of us dies it takes just a bit from us all. RIP

Condolences to his family. He was just a child, his family is probably crushed. He was a nice young man. RIP
