Just wondering who people thought were tough tandems to beat when they went on the road together?

I did do a road partner search and came up dry on this subject. If this has been discussed before please lead me in the right direction to find it.

I know Willis and Lassiter were together as well as Hubbart and Sigel, but one of my favorites was Dan Louie and Jeff Carter.

Another favorite pairing of mine were Jeff Carter and Steve Gumphreys. Jeff came back with a pocket full of cash both times, that I knew of, when he came off the road with these two guys.

As a side question was The Gumph as funny to everyone else as I found him to be?

Other famous road teams include Ronnie Allen and Ed Kelly (inspiration for The Baltimore Bullet), Larry Hubbart and Mike Sigel, and Alex Pagulayan and Corey Deuel.
 
Keith McCready and his backers, and some of the road stories we may never know.
 
Joey Gray and Chip Compton are a good duo, also have to like Chad Vilmont and Jamie Barracks right.

I can think of other groups but there usually way deeper than 2.
 
I always liked seeing Jesse Bowman and has band of merry hustlers that would decend upon a town and stay in action 24x7. I know it was more than a duo but it was still very enjoyable.

Chris bartram,denver,SA john, jason kirkwood, all passed through balto. Believe they took a little bit of money out of hear.
 
Lassiter and Fats worked the Eastern Seaboard, and especially around the Norfolk area, during and just after WWII
I always thought Jasmine Ochan and I would make a good team. ;)
 
Kid Delicious and Bristol Bob Begey were great road partners. Chris Bartram and Delicious pulled in pulled in some nice ching themselves. At least that's the way I heard it...........:thumbup:
 
Jeremy Jones & Gabe Owen made a pretty good tandem a few years back.

Back in the mid 90's or so, Jeremy came through here (DFW - TX area) and went bust. Came back about 6 months later and robbed everybody (!). Not sure if he was laying down the first time, or if he just improved that much. But he walked away with his pockets loaded.
 
Stevie Moore and Brian Butler. One guy could run you down and the other would back up over you.

On the same note but different (yes take some time to figure that one out) my Dream Team of road partners would be to women that I have the utmost respect for their game would be Kim Jones and Diane Crane (Wade Crane's Ex). Man there is no way anyone could fade that kind of action. I don't even know if they know each other but if there ever was a movie that people would flock to see it would star these two. All you would have to do is point a camera at them and the story would right itself. Oh well a Dream is just a Dream.
 
In my hometown, I think Shannon Daulton and some "other" kid came into town. Shannon was robbing everyone and soon his action dried up. One of the local old hustlers in town, said he couldnt play Shannon, but would play the kid, if he wanted some action.

The pair agreed and the kid got up and started to play, the "other" kid was Corey Deuel....and now you know the rest of the story....

Brings a smile to my face everytime I think about it.

Bartram and Delicious, GREAT pair..... Bartram and Big John, GREAT pair..... Bartram, Denver, Brian Groce, GREAT trio..... Bartram and Kirkwhizzle.... Corey and Alex.... Corey and Troy Frank....

Corey told me this one and a few months later Pete Glenn (who was there) told me the same exact story. Corey and Troy were on the road in Phoenix. They were on a cross country trip playing golf and whenever they would start to get low on funds they would head to the poolroom to get pumped back up.... They walk in and get a table near two of the best players in Phoenix. Corey packing his nieces pink "My first cue!" case. That thing was too cool!!! Troy (plays right handed) carefully puts his pool glove on the wrong hand (right instead of left) and they warm up. After 15-20 minutes of "warming up" they actually announce to each other that they are warmed up... Troy walks over to the two good players and asks "Hey Partner, would you and your Partner like to play me and my Partner some Partners, Partner???" Pete, who is a died in the wool, old school hustler himself said it was the one of the best shows he ever seen.....
 
Another great Corey story while I'm on a roll....

Corey was in Atlanta, IIRC, matching up with Mark Gregory, IIRC.... This was part of the Corey and Troy show, IIRC (LOL @ IIRC's). The game is made that Corey is getting the last two (which at the time was kind of tough on a tight table). Corey wins the first break and as Mark is racking the balls he looks up and says "I'm giving you the last two right?" Corey without missing a beat says "No, I'm giving YOU the last two!". Corey won the set in under an hour.....
