Looks like our old buddy Gary, now donning his real last name, won the next tour stop as well for $425 (plus $275 calcutta), taking down Ruberto in the process.

hmmm ....perchance was this pic taken in Ohio ???AzHousePro said:Hey gang, I have one that I really want to get off my chest. I received the usual slew of tourney results from this weekend and received the following picture from one of the tour events.
It seems that the winner is a road player and doesn't want his picture on the internet (presumably because it will kill his action).
The room owner and sponsors of the tour added money and/or product to make the event a success and they do that in exchange for the promotion from the event. I assume this player didn't offer to give the money back that he won since he was not allowing the tour to promote those sponsors properly.
Am I wrong at thinking this sort of thing is very 'dark ages' and is doing nothing at all for the game of pool?

Guy on the left looks like a fellow from the Lancaster, Logan Newark ,Zanesville area ??
They travel in a pack to a lot of tournaments and are well known road warriors in this area.
Ratchet said:We had a fellow show up at our annual Fairfield County's Best tournament in Lancaster , Ohio a few years ago, who ,to us locals was an unknown ,No problem, We proceeded to have the calcutta and when he came up, he stood up and bought himself for around 25 - 30 bucks and the calcutta went on and shortly after we got the tournament started a fellow came up to us at the TD's table and told us we had a ringer amongst us .
It turned out to be a fellow named (Jeremy ?)McWhorter (sp) who had recently tore Archer a new ass playing Banks at the DCC a few weeks earlier !
the tournament was immediately halted ,he was ID'ed , we redid his calcutta on the spot ,he then went for somewhere near 400 bucks . Talk about a guy being pissed off .....
Ratchet - he got caught with his hands in the cookie jar ,,,so to speak

I do, however, think it is highly unfair to have to stop the tournament play to redo a calcutta.
NaClBandit said:Someone said that he plays Efren EVEN in one pocket. This didn't sound believable to me, but he was probably one of the best non-pros I've ever seen play, so who knows.
Sweet Marissa said:If he wanted anonymity, then he shouldn't have posed for the picture.

Jimmy M. said:Anyone can play Efren even one pocket. Just get up and play and don't ask for a spot. If there's anyone out there who really believes he could win even, we need to talk. I have some beautiful beach front property right here in sunny Phoenix, Arizona that I'll let go for a good price.
I wish the road would not have brought him thru OAK PARK,IL. in the mid-sixties. Would have saved me a lotta $.lamar25 said:Hey Marissa,
Along the same lines. I would like to add another point.
In the late 60's to early 70's there was a road player based in Atlanta at that time. He attented all major events; but, only played in the Green Room. Most of the time he came home a winner.
In 1971 or 72 I had lunch with him. Asked him why he did not enter the tournaments he attended.
His responce was "I do not want the reputation".
In those years I only knew his aka name.
I am speaking of "Wade (Billy Johnson) Crane.
"Have a nice day",

MikeJanis said:Yes Mike this is from the dark ages. But since you may be privy to some info please post all that came in. If someone sent you the results, we (I) would like to know any info that was given. Please post what you have.
On the Viking Tour we no longer allow players to play under road names (since 1997/8?. They may use nick names as long as everyone knows who they are, such as, Kid Delicious, or Dee Adkins we all know who they are even if it's not their real names. Heck, Mike Janis isn't even my real name but that's what everyone knows me by.
I only know of one major regional tour that still allows this to happen. It's in the SE. But I have no knowledge of any others. In fact, that tour even told me that a player can play under any name they choose and even switch names at different events as long as they pay a tour card fee for each name.
Can you give us any additional information please ?
