Sales / Wanted rules Update

Kevin, you need to give it a rest.

We are working on it.
If that isn't good enough for you, I don't know what else to tell you.

To date, we have 34,330 members.

You are important, just not more important than any of the other 34,329.

I think if there is to many post in this section,,then any post older then 14 days should be deleted ,,if you really want to sell it you can post it again,,

I don't know John. That is a great idea and I'll look into it, but my first reaction is negative, I'm not that much of a "get around the rules" guy. I'm more of a transparent, straight forward guy, but we will see.

Its funny, we've got guys demanding their "rights" to see the prices of big cues they aren't really buyers for. Hey, I get it, I'm curious as to what a fancy Gus is worth too. Because of my exposure and success on eBay and AZ, I've had several guys consign me big cues (for example the last 2 Balabushkas I sold on eBay) which I sold in a transparent environment and everybody could see what those cues REALLY sell for. AZ has decided that's not good for "us".

I sold a Burton Spain EOL cue on eBay and the thread here on that sale turned into a tribute to Burton and Joel that was touching and super informative.

I showed you the thread (in the For Sale section) from when I sold the Gus on eBay for 55K. Again, highly entertaining and informative with all the big cues guys being heard.

Those threads - bad

The 200th bump of the 3rd thread on some trashed Viking window cue - good.

Thanks

Kevin

I don't think it's getting around the rules. The rule is don't post a thread in the for sale section that does not have an item for sale on AZ in it. Many or the members here have outbound links in their signatures. Almost all the club members who have a billiard business of some kind promote their business in their sigs.

What I guess I do not understand is why auctions are not allowed on here, people were told to take it to Ebay and now they can't even let people on AZ know that the item is being auctioned on Ebay.

I don't think that there would be a problem with putting an item up for sale here and then taking it to ebay if it didn't sell and then posting an edit with the Ebay link. Well I wouldn't think that this should be a problem but who knows.

I surely hope that the new rule was not enacted because of you. I really didn't notice that you were doing anything wrong or obnoxious in the least.

I've been told to be still. I'm sitting at my desk with my hands folded.

Thanks for your idea. The best part of AZ is the truly knowledgeable people that put up with the downside and post and share what they know. Almost everything I know about cues (and cases) I learned here.

Thanks again

Kevin

I just want to say thank you for there being a AZ Web Site and keep up the good work.............to all moderators and creators of this Forum............OTB:bow-down:

I wish it went without having to be said...but you guys understand that we are doing our best to satisfy as many people as possible......and that there is absolutely ZERO possibility of satisfying every last poster on AZB.

Right?

We are listening to your suggestions. That doesn't mean we can make a provision for all of them though.

Am I allowed to post a cue for sale here on AZ, and inside my post include that this cue is or will be for sale on Ebay now or on this date?

I-trade section.....my opinion.,,..keep the rif raff there, before committing to a purchase or sale, just look up there name for reference, like Fast Lennys spot in action room............OTB

They aren't allowed at all and will be deleted promptly. Ask me how I know.

Cue identification sub forum under cues

Please add a Cue ID subforum. I think it is long overdue and would give those threads a home. They shouldn't be in the Main, the For Sale or the cuemaker sections...

Yep, a few simple mods like this will alleviate a lot of headaches.......

Another one that's been mentioned....if it's for sale, must post a price or say "private".....not "make me an offer".

Please charge people to advertise cues here. It doesn't have to be much, but it would eliminate probably half of the "bullshit" ads of people just throwing up over priced stuff hoping it will sell. The for sale section is clogged with overpriced/over-bumped stuff.

I can't see why this would be a problem. I have seen many of Kevin's threads that have a cue and a price, also saying that it will be going to eBay starting Sunday. Why would there be a problem in giving both? Saying here is a price for this cue if purchased by x/xx, if not then it is going to the bay - that seems completely reasonable.

In my opinion, Kevin's threads are far less obtrusive than many of the ones that get bumped 10 times a day selling the same thing. I saw one yesterday that had been for sale at the same price for 11 months and had 3 pages of bumps...seriously, that's ok?

As far as the price goes, I completely agree. My earlier post was in reference to the "offer" posts. Having a price that is private because of the nature of the cue is understandable. The issue I have is when someone has a couple hundred dollar cue and wants offers. If you want offers, put it up on eBay and you will be forced into the best offer. If you want someone to purchase something, post a price. When I go to bestbuy, I don't ask the guy the price of a tv to hear him say, "well you can make us an offer on it".

It would make researching cue IDs easier too. All around a great idea.

Right! I think you are doing a fine job! I also think that some people here forget that this forum is NOT a revenue source for AZ, rather a free service to it's members! A lot of people come here to buy $200 production cues...few buy $40,000 cues! This forum should always be for the majority of members, not the elite minority! I have always thought it to be absurd that AZ would allow links to ebay. Ebay can advertise for itself. Maybe if Kevin would like to pay the same selling fees here, AZ could accomodate him. How about selling banner ads for those who wish to sell outside AZ? Ozone does it, why not Kevin?

Are you saying is OK with the mods for me to post links to my ebay cue auctions in the Main Forum?

May I hear from Mr Wilson on this?

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin, why not just buy a banner ad from AZ linking to your sales elsewhere? Ozone billiards does it, why not you. Or do you simply want something for nothing.

I hope to not piss anyone off here, but.....

This seems like a bad situation all around. I am still fairly new here, but I already know that Kevin is a great part of the Wanted/For Sale section. His threads are very tasteful, with great pictures, and he is highly respected. I will be very sorry if I am not able to view the cues he has for sale anymore, even if I cannot afford them. And a side note: there are numerous reasons to keep the sale of a very high-end cue COMPLETELY confidential. And as far as pictures go, I understand the intention, bit I think Dean will have something to say about that. And there are many here who absolutely love dealing with Dean.

On the otherside, I see the mods point as well. There is a lot of "junk" clogging up the forum. And it is annoying. But, one mans junk is another mans Scruggs. I have no interest in an $80 McViking, but many people do, so I won't turn my nose up because that is what they are looking for. And AZ is a great place to find them. In my opinion, the banning of links in threads will do very little to unclog the forum. But, I have definitely been wrong before. I do know that I would not want to be a Mod here, at all. He was 110% correct when he said you can not please everyone. It is a big place, and some people thrive on unhappiness.

A compromise seems to be needed. Sub-forums seem like a great idea. But, then again, I do not know how much work that entails, and I will not be the one undertaking said work, so.... But it seems like it could be broken up into Custom and Production. And I also hope to see that the raffle section be used to post links to ebay as well. I would really like to see Kevin's listings without having to go directly to ebay.

There are some obvious abuses of the forum that should be handled on a situational, one-on-one basis though. Kevin's threads are not one of those.

I wish the world were black and white. Unfortunately, it's usually just a sh**ty color of gray.

I think more people come here to buy $300-$2,000 custom cues. Lower end production cues seem to sell better on EBAY, IMHO.

I agree with an Ebay section, or even an ebay sticky, that allows you to post a ONE time link to your auction. No bumping.
It would allow AZ members a way to sort through the crap that is on ebay and know they are dealing with a reputable seller.

I don't know anything about you. I have never met you or Kevin, but to me it seems like you seem very stern and judgmental about eBay links.

Especially when a quick search found four threads you made in this forum with links to eBay. That was on the first page; maybe there are more. I am just curious why you are waiving the banner when you have done the exact same thing? Why didn't you just buy a banner ad, or is it because you simply want something for nothing?
