How is it that the moderators allow the " bash drunk Barry Behrman" threads but remove the ones about a pro player sending the operators of a charity event a bill for $3000? I guess it depends on who you know. I wonder if Barry could make a phone call and get these threads removed? Doubt it.

I also think the mean-spirited threads about Barry Behrman are a terrible blemish on this forum. It hurts my heart to know that Barry will read them.
When everybody wrote about U.S. Open Champion Gabe Owen not so long ago, the thread was removed because of the unfounded accusations. I think some of the words written about Barry Behrman fall into that same category.

It's just shows you how stupid people in our game can be. He is one of the only ones keeping big tournaments Alive. He probably lost 10k on the event.

I'm sorry but Barry set himself up for those threads. If he didn't want the internet to make comments about how he allegedly got drunk and rambled on for 30 minutes, he shouldn't have provided the ammo...
I like the US Open, and I have no beef with Barry, but what he did was unprofessional, and it didn't look good to ANYONE that watched it. If you want to be the biggest, and most prestigious tournament in the world than act the part.

I had the same question when I read the thread. Then I thought about it, and I seem to recall a story about a prominent member of the ABP, who also promotes many tournaments, and has a dubious history regarding hotel rooms here on AZB, who shall remain nameless....

Agree . Does Barry B have to be professional; no. Should he; yes. I don't know him but when I'm watching one of the premier pool events I would like to think its done with some dignity and professionalism. His rants (drunk or not) are not helping his image and pool in general. Most of us bangers out here want to at least pretend that when you hit the pro stage things are done in a pro way. oh well in the end its his stage he can do whatever he wants but should he?

As far as Bill Gates, he does NOT own the company.
It is a publicly traded company. I own MS too.
If he acted in an inappropriate manner it would be reviewed by board of directors and he would either be fined, repumaned or asked to resign.
It happens all the time.
Bill Gates is also on that board, and I agree it would be nearly impossible.

But this thread is about a double standard, not a debate about whether the criticism is deserved.
I thought i read an article a while back that the microsoft board of directors was trying to push Gates out and i don't remember even seeing him drunk anywhere...lol

But the mod (Wilson) has stated a couple of times that if someone sees an out of line post,
use the report button. He doesn't read every thread every day.
He will then jump in and either kill the thread, ban someone, or explain
why he doesn't think the post is out of line.
Occasionally he may just ignore the report and not get involved.
What I thought was really low class and out of line in that bashing thread was not saying he's drunk,

To be honest, I couldn't remember, for sure. And I somehow missed out on what led to it being pulled...
Finally, finally, finally, some words of decency emit from an AzBilliards' thread about the Open. I feel *exactly* the same way about that thread in question created by Skyscraper Chris. It wasn't so much the bashing of Barry Behrman as much as it was the outrageous innuendos and hints of vulgarity which bothered me the most. Then people come on that thread stating, "Well, this is our opinion. We can state our opinion. That is what a forum is for."
Thereafter, the trolls come out to play, surveying the thread for every word where they can insert their sarcasm and mean-spirited replies, things that are commonplace for multiple-identitied trolls and banned members posting. In one such case, there was a member who hadn't posted anything since March 2013. Their join date was December 2012. Then they suddenly join in the Open discussion in October 2013 after a hiatus from March 2013. This, my friends, is one form of evidence of a multiple-identitied troll. Of course, they could have been in jail, sick, or not posted all that time, but in my 10 years of experience reading this forum, this is a characteristic of a member with multiple identities on AzBilliards.
