Selling---Tascarella cue--

But if the buyer initiates a charge back through his creditcard company, Paypal will side with buyer?

If the Seller has done business in a way that meets the criterion of PayPal's seller protection, PayPal will guarantee the seller against any non-delivery charge back. Mail order people have all sorts of measures to protect them selves against "items significantly different" scams, but yeah you are at risk as a seller. Bear in mind that the scammer is committing fraud, and mail fraud in my case (please folks keep this in mind when you are repping FedEx or UPS) and that's felony stuff, and to win their claim they will be subject to some investigation, but yes. This is one exposure that is covered in my insurance policy and I've never had a claim in 12 years as a seller. There's easier and less punishing ways to steal.

Thanks,
I did ship to the confirmed paypal address
The next morning after payment was made
USPS express domestic (well as long as we still conceder Texas a domestic mail)
The only odd thing about my transaction is the guy I sold the cue to made payment through paypal but when I looked at paypal.com it shows a girl's name not his and a different last name. My first thought was oh no this dude scammed someone else's paypal account to make payment for the cue, but the address he gave me for shipment matched up with the confirmed paypal address on file for the paypal account. I guess it could be boy friend/girl friend living together or husband/wife and wife did not take last name etc........

Sure you are fine as long as you shipped to the PayPal address and PayPal showed you "eligible for seller protection" in their payment notification.

The buyer has little to no exposure on E-bay. I sold an expensive item, never received payment or communication from the deadbeat. There is no way to leave anything but positive feedback, so you have to rely on E-bay to post a non-paying bidder strike on the buyers feedback. I filed the claim, was refunded the seller fees, but E-bay never posted the NPB strike on the persons feedback history.

A few years ago eBay decided that they were doing all sorts of promotion to attract new buyers to the site, and newbies were coming in and getting beat up by power sellers, neg repped and were disappearing never to return. eBay changed their focus from being seller sensitive to being buyer sensitive and the feedback changes were part of this. I was part of a core group or power sellers advanced on these changes and I screamed and howled and cried and threw fits but for some reason the big corporate giant ignored the tiny pleas of one tiny minuscule user and did what they wanted anyway. I really don't know how it has worked out for them, I'm too busy running around looking for stuff to buy (and sell).

Yes it did say "eligible"
I am sure the transaction is going to be fine. I have spoken & text back and forth with the buyer several times, no issues.
I only brought this scenario up as a way to learn how to protect myself as a Seller in the future. I want to learn something new everyday.

You know, based on this and that cluster that happened on the old Palmer F cue, there should be a rule in this section that says, if you post a price and someone agrees to that price the first public post that says I'll take it, gets it.

Just an opinion.

JV

well that might be a problem if someone pms first and says they will take it and another posts first they will take it. It happened in one of my postings.

I think that is exactly why Joe is suggesting we make a rule that the public post takes precedence. Then there would be no confusion.

One good thing from all of this

A lot of people (myself being one as i am new to Paypal) have learned a ton from all that has transpired through this. At least we can take something positive away from it all.

Well the issue is that the guy here says publically he'll take it at the POSTED price and someone PM's that he'll give an extra 100 if he sells it to him. This way everyone see's the deal is legit.

I have the worse paypal nightmare story and it will make you think 100x about paypal.

Whatever you do, don't let the fact that you haven't read the thread stop you from posting your opinion.

The auction thing you are referring to is your fantasy and never happened and Danktrees doesn't want HIS cue.

Thanks
