Congratulations!
The negative attitudes of the several of the posters in this thread convinced me to sponsor Mike Wong in the US Open.

You know – if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all?
Mark Griffin
I already know you are going to take this with a certain tone.
Nothing i do can change that, even though the tone you are defaulting to is probably wrong. but that's ok. I know my words are interpreted harsher then the average joe.
Some counter perspective.
Kudos to you for stepping up by the way.
But for the record. To some, this forum is a community. Whether people agree, or disagree, they at least come together on here and participate on the main forum.
Last time Mike posted was over a year ago, then recently he posted in something about cue extensions, and then came on the forums asking for money.
You really shouldn't criticize people for questioning who he is, what his ethics might be, and how much integrity he has as a person when the majority of the people on here have no clue who he is or have never met him.
He's spent 95% of his AZ career in for sale items, cue and case gallery, or ask the cuemaker.
People are most certainly allowed to scrutinize someone when they might be making an investment in that person, and trying to figure out if it is a sound business decision.
If some stranger were to walk into a regional event in Mike's neck of the woods, walked up to him, and asked to be staked for a hundred bucks so they could get into the tournament, I highly doubt if Mike would just fork over the money. Everyone on here knows Mike himself would be doing the EXACT same thing. Finding people who knew the guy, and getting a handle on who they were. Citing past actions as potential character evidence, from people with positive and negative things to say that come from their own personal experiences with him or what they've personally seen. Sorry, but that's the reality of life. The world ain't all rainbows and unicorns.
So when people bring up instances of him and potential questionable behavior and what that behavior might entail, that's giving the potential investors feedback.
And why not?!
I think we've all seen our fair share of people who could care less about this forum and the community within, who treat it like a bunch of suckers who are their personal ATM. What is wrong with people questioning things, erring on the side of caution and being careful with their money?
And you are dead wrong about people asking for help.
Pool players ask for help ALL THE TIME. Maybe not on the forums, but broke pool players have been getting adopted by total suckers, since forever.
Heck, even Mike has backers ready to go for the right game that he can't afford, or doesn't want to risk his own money. That's help, right?
Believe me it's easy to ask for help, especially when actually getting that help means having a total freeroll.
I'm actually surprised more people don't try it more often on here.
But again. Kudos to you for stepping up and putting an end to the diatribe.
Hopefully, it turns out to be a sound investment.
