Short list of cuemakers to work with today?

OK, I've come to the conclusion that I would really like to get a custom cue made specifically for me. So, given today's waiting lists for certain cue makers (Searing, Southwest, etc), which cuemaker would you recommend I talk to? I know this is highly subjective, but I'm hoping to get a contact for someone that I can get a really nice custom cue from in the next 12 months. Who would you contact and work with understanding the primary goal is playability (not a collector).

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

Sheldon Lebow Springfield,Or. One of the most under rated craftsman today. IMHO Don

With all that you said in mind and with all due respects to Sheldon Lebow (my best cue was made by him) I think you could not go wrong talking to Bob Frey - he makes a great player and is a real nice guy. He is usually able to hook you up w/o a long wait. good luck

Chad Carter is one of the best people I have ever dealt with in any bussiness setting...

I haven't talked to any cuemaker that wasn't real pleasant and willing to talk. I would suggest that make a list of the cuemakers that you would want a cue from. Give them a call and find out how long it will take.

In the past I have dealt with Gina, RC3, Perry Weston, Layani, Bender, Jensen, Gilbert, and Shurtz. They are all great cues and you can get one make in less than a year.

Andy Gilbert!

Great cue maker and a great guy!

I totally agree, and I would add Billy Webb, he is also a member of this forum. He posts under Spiderweb or Cobbweb I do not remember which!!!

I agree, Mike Webb. Great guy to talk to and he makes a great cue.

I talked to Richard Black the other day and you can have a cue in about 3 to 4 months.
2 other names that come to my mind Alex Brick, Ariel Carmeli, Bob Hunter and Jeff Olney. It really depends what kind of cue are you looking for. If you are looking for something in my opinion even better than Southwest or within that area look into a Alex Brick or a Jeff Olney. Carmeli cues also have a very good stiff hit, of course Bob Hunter are top notch. The wallet is the limit and all these guys are nice to talk to. I have they contact info if you need. Also BCM Cues, Bryan Mordt is really a nice to talk to as well.

For a Layani there is a 18 months wait. That is what Thierry Layani told me since he is going to live to Europe for a while.

one of the nicest and most responsive cue makers I've ever dealt with. Highly recommended. Mason H and Joey Bautista would also be good guys to deal with.
Bob Dzuricky too...www.dzcues.com

so many good choices, so little money.

Definitely a good list. Thanks guys. If there are any others that anyone can think of, let me know.

Thanks. Mike

Mike Webb has earned my trust !
His pride in his cues and intergity is a fact!
I had a webb with a cracked butt end which he replaced, but the kicker was he refinished the butt to newness. No charge
Needless to say I retired this beautiful cue
The extra shaft I played with was a predator bought from Mike so the original shaft it came with is golden!
Thanks Mike

Barry Cameron has always been great to work with and he makes a great hitting and great looking cue too.
