Should Barry Behrman stand up for his rights as the U.S. Open9-Ball Championship promoter and tell the ABP that he is not going to seed according to their rules, and if their players aren't at the event on time, then they will forfeit their match when it is called? No favoritism!

Should Barry Behrman comply with the ABP, work with the American pros, for fear that his U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship might suffer in attendance?

Vote yes or no. This is a blind poll. Lurkers, you can vote anonymously.

Barry shouldn't let CW dictate the rules.

On the second part of that about showing up late, I don't like that and think it's unfair to the players that have to show up on time and spend more doing so. However this is not the only group he is making exceptions for as I stated in another thread he is making exceptions for Shane Van Boening and I think Darren Appleton because The International Tournament of Champions scheduled their event at Mohegan Sun Casino at the same time as the U.S. Open, it's dates are Oct. 23, 24, 25. With the men playing on the 23 of Oct, and the trick shot portion on Thurs the 25 of Oct. (that's why Mike Dechaine can't play in the Open.

So Barry is making exceptions and doing his best to accommodate everyone not just CW, that's why CW sucks even more for this last minute
press release crap, shows you just what kind of person he is, not that it wasn't apparent already.

YES--- Go Pound Salt, check. Should have been one of the choices, excellently said Mickey!

I think Barry Behrman should do whatever he believes is in the US Open's best interests. As promoter, he knows what 'needs' to be done, and what he can and/or cannot do with or without. If that includes making the adjustments in accordance to the ABP's rules, then so be it.

That said, were it me in Barry's shoes, I'd tell the ABP to go pound salt...

Exactly. It is not Barry Behrman's responsibility to obstruct the ABP's mission of manipulating our sport any further than his event is impacted.

Jen,

Who am I to tell Mr. Behrman what to do. Never been to his event.

That said, Mr Behrman should tell the ABP, if they as an organization choose not to follow his established rules, "their" players will be barred from competing this year (go pound salt). I'm sure it would cost him dearly with some pool fans. On the other hand, he has gone way above what is necessary to provide a great event. Not sure who has suffered financially the most in past years. Barry or the players waiting for payment of prize money? Perhaps fodder for another thread?

Stu,

Not sure what you're doing these days. Care to run (or volunteer) for Czar of Pool? A person of your stature in the game might be exactly what is needed. JMHO.

Not sure if know anything that others don't but regardless of what has happened here between the mixed messages its kinda late to be thinking about changing anything. The US Open is in a matter of days and most players have their rooms booked and flight paid for and maybe entry paid, The players are kinda in a spot now if they want to boycott this year.

Every ABP pro involved, should be banned forever.
If they ever want to play again, CW must be videotaped crawling across the floor, kissing Barry's shoes, begging Barry to let them back in.
When CW doesnt do that, each individual ABP player that must be filmed doing the same, while also renouncing CW, if they themselves, want to play.

I wonder if ABP members are required to give Charlie keys to their rooms while at ABP tourneys? If they did that, members would be renouncing Charlie for sure.... He's a dirty little cockroach and maybe they would see that once he enters their private hotel room and crawls into bed with them, unannounced.

He is well known for it. Hes a p.o.s. I know of 4 girls he pulled this stunt on. How anyone could ever support him is beyond me.

While I agree it is Barry's tournament and, of course, he should do what Barry thinks is best, I in no way implied by creating this poll thread that me or you or any of us should be dictating what Barry should do. I am merely seeking an opinion.

For the ABP to change course, making demands 2 weeks before the Open, it is absolutely unfair to Barry.

They tried to do the same thing to Mike Zuglan, insisting that he seed the Turning Stone tournament, and Mike stuck to his rights and said no.

The ABP wants to use these tournaments produced by others as their ranking system. Well, I said that is outrageous.

Again, to those who say it is Barry's tournament and he should make the decision, I agree. That was *not* the intention of this thread. And by the amount of votes that say "yes," it looks like there are plenty of folks in agreement with me.

Nobody said it was Barry Behrman's responsibility to obstruct the ABP's mission.

I did ask opinions about what Barry should do to protect his event: comply with the ABP or not comply with the ABP, make concessions to the ABP or not make concessions to the ABP, be fair to all competitors or show favoritism to the ABP members showing up late.

Maybe you misunderstood the poll question.

The girls/women I grew up around would have set his a$$ up. When he got 5' from the bed put a few slugs in him =done. Johnnyt

JAM;3802745 For the ABP to change course said:
The game needs Mike Zuglan clones...there is not enough of him to go
around.
He does what he thinks is right and will not be intimidated.
As a player he was a great model also...played world class...
...but he could swallow a loss better than anyone I know.

Mike runs a good tournament.

Just checked U.S. Open site for list of players didn't see one, thanks I
don't do face book.

I think every one should tell the ABP to STFU.

They try to throw there weight around with little to no organization and just end up looking like fools, and hurting the sport of pool.

I still think it will take some one/ or some company to bring every one, players, promoters, industry manufacturers, etc. under ONE roof, and make everybody play by the same set of rules. See all other MAJOR sports for reference.

best,

Justin
