Slowest pro players?

I was watching the ipt 8 ball match and had to quit, it was too boring watching the sssslllloooowww play. I love watching pool but that was too much to take. Pool will never make it on tv with a guy agonizing and walking around the table on every shot.

Who are some of the slow pro players out there?

Danny basavitch, uuugh. great guy and great shooter but the 3 milliion practice strokes kills me when i watch him.

I don't think the speed of the players play is what is keeping pool from 'making it on TV'.
AFAIK golf is a much slower paced game than pool.

DB is obviously a good player, but I can't stand watching him, not about the time it takes him to shoot, it's just that he always looks like he's playing speed pool -- running around and stroking at like 5,000RPM, and then he takes 8 minutes.

I'm a pretty slow shooter, but the only complaints I get are from the people who just lost.

Greg Fix, fun to watch his opponents in the chair.

But if slow play bothers anyone here's a tip I received from Rempe before playing a match with Jimmy Reid who may not be slow but loves to stay at the table as long as possible.

"Joe do you have anywhere to be or anything else to do today?" Nope
"Good, remember that while you're sitting in the chair"

After Jimmy took about 5-10 minutes to rack the 1st rack I knew Rempe gave me some good advice, I won the match & I've used that thought ever since.

Without a doubt, Danny Basavich has to be the holder of this "less-than-prestigious" honor...I watched him, live, at the 2008 SBE in Valley Forge...he was playing Thorsten Hohmann in an early round match...he did so much air-stroking, neck-flexing, head-bobbing, and toweling off between shots that I don't know how Hohmann stayed awake nor why he didn't ask the T.D. to put the clock on Basavich...it was pathetic, unnecessary, and totally unprofessional...!!!
That match, by the way, stretched well into the time-slot for the next series of matches...again, why the T.D. (Frank Del Pizio) didn't react to "speed him up" made no sense...it was totally ridiculous...!!!

I've never seen anyone as slow as Charlie Bryant!!!! I watched several matches at the pro tourney at Kolby's, and every one that Charlie played ran about an hour over everyone else's time. I personally believe that's why he beat Efren. When they were playing, Efren was watching the other matches around him, and I think he just forgot he had his own match going on...:boring:

If it takes you an extra minute to make a shot.... take it. Its better than missing.

Honestly, when I speed my game up, I pocket less balls. When I slow it down, I play better and my opponent plays worse.

Johnny Archer is slower than Souquet nowadays. Recent Mosconi Cup proved it pretty clear imo. 30 seconds shot clock and Archer was the one to use it most of others.
Danny Basavich holds first place, when at WPC he once was shooting a 9-ball in the side, pretty easy one, for a minute and a half. Too much pressure was involved in that shot.
Rald Souquet makes it look long just because he does never rush, approaching each and every shot with his own tempo. About 20 seconds every time but rarely he spends more than standard 45.

Slow???

Former PBT pro Greg Fix gives em all the last 4 in slow. Bill Dunsmore & Danny Christian a lil faster than Greg...which is like comparing the turtle to the snail...lol

Danny Basavich, but he can play fast too. I have seen him play under a 30-second shot clock at Glass City Open, and he ran a six-pack on Corey Deuel.

Dick Lane is about the slowest I have ever experienced watching, but he sure is a sweet guy, so very nice.

Ralph Souquet plays slow, but he is another one who can speed up his pace, if need be.

Nick Varner is definitely a slow, methodical, calculating, determined pool player. He studies every angle before his fires the trigger. Great player, however, and makes incredible shots.

Reid Pierce, though eye candy for the ladies, has a wee tendency to take his time when in competition.

There's a few more who slow it down from time to time, but the thing about these above-referenced champions is they can all speed it up, if they have to.

In fact, I can think of a few players -- ONE IN PARTICULAR -- who play too damn fast and should slow it down, so that maybe they could not make mistakes, giving their opponents an advantage. I won't name any names. 😠

Slow Down?!!!!

Are you kidding me JAM? That "wink wink"un-named player should never slow down. He would fall over if he slowed down any. LOL

Davenport

Although I wouldnt consider him one of the slowest, Kim Davenport does like to take quite a few practice strokes. I just want to pull an "Earl" and say hit the ball, MANNN.
