Smithsonian Bender on Ebay

Bender

I love Mikes work, but I don't see even the price of table in that cue. Let alone what he is asking for the cue. The table is also rediculously priced. Maybe he will sober up soon, Butterflycues

$%^@!!!!!

I thought it was $7500 and thought, that's not a bad price, until I saw 75,000 in one of the posts and had to go back to the ebay post.

$7500 sounds like a more accurate appraisal of the cues value.
I suppose the cue or table are worth what somebody will pay for them.
Is there any Bender experts/collectors on this forum that might be able to give us a more educated estimate of the cues value, if so, what do you think the cue is worth?
How about a billiard table expert and your appraisal of the table offered?
I am just curious. I'm not planning on taking a loan out or anything.

To each his own

It looks like a very nice Bender cue, and since it is the same as the one in the Smithsonian, it should command a nice price.
He has every right to ask what he wants for it, and gotta love the fees he probably paid to list it at that price. Of course, nobody will probably buy it for that price, but he can ask whatever he wants.

Maybe he really doesn't want to sell it, but just wants to put it up there at a very high price to see what offers he receives.

At least it is gonna entertaining for us to talk about, and when cue sales seem to be very difficult in this economic time, at least we all can spend our AZB time talking about the cue seller dreamers on Ebay(and some of them here on AZB). All it takes is one person to buy it - Who's it gonna be?

Let's add more fuel to the fire - What does this make my Sugartree worth?:grin-square:

I never thought I could like a cue with this much malachite in it

...and I was right.

At $7,500 I think this cue would still be a tough sell. I've seen fancier Mike Bender cues sell for much less. The fact that this is a 1-of-3, one of which sits in the Smithsonian STILL doesn't do much for me.

If this were the ACTUAL Smithsonian cue, then perhaps. But even still, $75,000 is not just 'too high'. Its ridiculous.

For his sake, I hope he gets it. Regardless, Mike makes an amazing playing cue.

Price is loony

He is trolling for a sucker. Funny thing - anyone thats going to spend 75 large on a cue is probably going to be an astute collector and laugh at his auction.
