Yes, so far. Time will tell whether he keeps it that way.

Go USA!!!

Of course he is. I think he's an inspiration. Just look at how much more fun AZ is since he started posting. Compared to Charlie Williams, CJ is like Nelson Mandela.

I'm just curious how anyone that isn't there can answer that since no one has a clue what he is actually doing??

I'm just curious how anyone could possibly not expect Negative Nacy Neil to chime in on a CJ thread?

If you can't figure out how people could judge CJ's coaching without being there, you need to go back to deleting your posts and bumping old threads with nothing but a line of dots because your hate and jealousy has finally gotten to the point of retardation.

CJ knows more about pool than you, has accomplished more that you could ever dream of, has helped and taught more people on here than you, and probably has banged hotter chicks than you. Just STFU already.

Done with your stupid rant?? Simple question that obviously was to tough for you. I didn't say a word against CJ. He might be doing a fantastic job there. He might suck at it. Point was, we don't know, do we? And, I have no hate or jealousy towards anyone, unlike you, obviously. There's an ignore feature, why don't you get someone to show you how to use it??

LMAO, that's funny. And probably true on all counts.

CJ doesn't just use the restroom, he either takes a leak or poops out little bitter Neil nuggets.

 Neil.

He hasn't played a game yet, so it's hard for me to say myself. Really, what's to say that he not out there say "shit you guys know how to play and you know what to do, I'm just going to make the schedule.......bring it home guys"

So far, it looks like he's doing an awesome job. I liked his picks for day one; he put Brandon out there early to get him cocked, paired him up with JA (smart move). The only on the spot coaching I saw him do was working with Brandon during the doubles match to calm him down. Once on the floor, he seems to be letting the team do their thing...the European coach can't seem to stay in his chair. He seems to be letting JA do the motivational stuff, which he's very good at (a VERY smart move). I've been watching these matches closely for the past 10 years; this is really the first year our team really looks like a team that wants it bad. I'm sure they wanted it bad in earlier years, but this year it seems palpable.

Without Ralf, I don't think Europe can do it this year. Economopoulos is a great player, but I think he's their weak link...I could be wrong, he's had a great year on the EuroTour; but he looks a little overwhelmed and was having problems controling the CB on some pretty pedestrian shots. Maybe he'll tighten it up, but I'll bet he doesn't.

Hatch is wound WAY up! He was fist pumping so hard during the doubles match, I thought he was going to clock Van de Berg by accident.

Just my guess

I haven't had the privelege of seeing any of the matches or what CJ has done but I do know CJ and I know there's nobody I would rather see at the helm. You could point a gun at that cat and not make him say anything negative.
He's talented, positive and hey! He's even good looking...and, I'm straight.
Come on Seige. Bring that cup back to the land of Mosconi.
Keep it fun. Alfie

The part in bold is the part that I was thinking CJ would change a bit this year. There is always the excessive celebration after each match. I think all the fist pumping and ra ra stuff after each win makes for good tv but it doesn't help keep the players focused on winning.

To me, it sort of like stopping after each mile of a marathon and getting all excited about how fast that last mile was. It removes your focus on the entire match and it creates EVEN MORE pressure on you and your teammates for the next one.

If you look at nearly ALL the great players in other sports I think one thing they have in common is they control their emotions and they don't get too excited while they are still in the fight. They save all that for the end.

Neil when you said: "I'm just curious how anyone that isn't there can answer that since no one has a clue what he is actually doing??"

I would like to respond. I watched the matches yesterday and it appears to me that CJ made some good choices. Now he may have gotten lucky as I don't know how they do the matchups.

I think many of us can tell how a coach is doing by looking at the performance of his team.

Can you explain to me your criteria for knowing what a coach is doing? I have watched many football games on TV and have known quite well how the coaches were doing by watching the game. Are you suggesting that one could only tell how a coach is doing by actually Boeing there in person? If this is the case, just how close to the coach would one have to be? At York Hall one could be only 4 or 5 rows back and might not be able to hear what CJ is saying to the players. Of course at many team sports
games fans can't hear the coach but they still can tell how he's doing just by watching. I am curious what is needed by your definition to tell how a coach is doing beyond watching the game and listening? Thanks.

CJ didn't make the choices per say, from my understanding, he just says who he is putting up but doesn't know who the other team is putting up. As to my criteria, I don't know. Which is why I asked.

You first have to decide if a coach matters at all or if players are just gonna play how they play regardless. I think a coach does have some effect.

How much the coach matters, is a matter of debate. IIRC the bookmakers had europe a slight favorite. But USA is leading. So it's either either CJ or someone got underrated/overrated or we just got lucky.

Going by his posts, I'd say CJ has a very good personality suited for coaching. Infinitely upbeat, patient, handles criticism well and doesn't get heated when people question what he's saying. Likes to be a teacher or mentor.

Seems like he must be an improvement over CW simply because his anti-fan club is so much smaller than Charlie's. Pretty much it's limited to Neil and maybe two or three others.

Why even make a comment like that if you aren't trying to start something?? And, just for your info, you are totally wrong. You would be amazed at the number of people on here that don't think very highly of him. But, that has nothing to do with this thread, so why would you even bring it up?? I ask a simple, pertinent question, and several of you have to crap on the thread trying to start flame wars. This place is really getting sickening.
