I still think your Palace Garden case is the best case ever made. I can imagine how great it looks with your wonderful cues.

....Howdy.....

Will

I'm so grateful that you have decided to share some pics of your fabulous collection. Thank you for that.

The Florence Gina I knew of, I saw Ernie do some of the work restoring that stick, but I didn't know of the other ivory handled Gina (which appears to have a lot of work in it, including those the bomb feather inlays both Ernie and Tad did). If you'd share an history on that cue with that unique signature, I'd love to hear.

I had an alternative post, here it is:

Wow.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Great to hear from you!

I don`t know much more about the ivory cue ball handled Ginacue in terms of its history. Ernie is coming to the ICCS this year, and I plan to bring the cue. I am sure I can jog his memory a bit as we talk about it some. BTW, you`ve got good eyesight to notice the feather inlays (my favorite inlay ever) through my poor pictures. This is the earliest cue I know of with these inlays, and was made several years before the Eddie Kelly box cue......

.........One thing I was remiss in not saying about this cue........ if you look at the early black and white poster picture of some of Ernie`s work (the one that shows the Tribute cue you recently sold), this ivory handled cue is in the middle of the picture, next door to the ivory and silver cue of Ginacue fame.

Another of my favorite cues I own is also in the poster...the wrapless Brazilian rosewood cue with the large ivory wedge. It was Marvin Henderson`s playing cue for many, many years. The wood is unbelievable, so nice that Ernie could not bring himself to cut the wood and put a handle on!

I own another early (ca1964) Ginacue with no points that is made of the same piece of Brazilian rosewood, likely the next piece of wood from Marvin`s! Heh, heh, heh............

Probably a lot more than you were wanting, but I should have warned you not to get me going on stories about the cues.............

Thanks for asking!

Will

Hi Si,

Thanks for the note.

I also think Ginacues and Tads go well side by side, and even keep all of the ones that I have in cases sitting next to each other.

Take care,

Will

Alton,

Thanks for the nice comment!

The third cue from the left on the table (next to the Ginacues) is in need of some caps! Let me know if you can put them on your schedule! (This is partly why I took the pictures!).

Take care,

Will

Quite the contrary I always think you don't go on enough.

I will ask Ernie about that cue and perhaps I'll have a story for you.

I'm also a fan of those feather inlays like on your 1st box cue. When you say "earliest" do you mean earliest cue or earliest Gina? I asked Ernie once about the use of that inlay design by he and Tad, sorta of asking who started it and he just gave me "the look".

I'll let you know if I find something interesting.

More cue pics please!

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin,

I meant earliest Ginacue, but also earliest cue. I always thought Ernie was the first user of the feather inlay.

I think you are right on the feather thing. I can't believe you own that cue from the catalog right next to the Silver Gina! Damn that's just a huge cue. I wonder if Ernie built that cue on spec like he did with the Silver cue (how did THAT speculation work out?). I'm asking.

Kevin

Will, thanks for posting these cues. As weird as it sounds, pictures like this make my day over here in good ol' Afghanistan a bit more enjoyable.

Will, like everyone, I really appreciate you taking the time to share pieces of your stunning collection with the forum.

Those Tad buttsleeves just blow me away. You can spot the "look" from a mile away.

Probably not the right thread, but I'm curious. Do you still commission new cues, or strictly focus on older collectible cues? Or both!?!

Awesome, totally awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the comment!

I have a number of new cues being built at all times, a half dozen as I write this.

Take care,

Will
