Some thoughts on Chris Bartram

After seeing how well Chris played, I don't think Hennessee would want any part of him anymore. In fact, if Chris can keep playing at this level, which was sensational, he will break through into that upper elite tier. I guess it's up to him to decide that if he thinks the work will be worth the reward.

Besides the overall slow pace, part of the reason why the match was boring was because they both played so well. There were not very many mistakes and both played great safeties and recoveries.

I would say that the difference in the match was Chris was able to convert more opportunities into wins. In fact, the thing that struck me was how many outs he made from difficult positions. Also, his strategy was very sound throughout the match - he made good choices. I really enjoyed watching him grind through the difficult layouts. I don't think Hennessey expected a Chris Bartram this sharp and focused . Hennessee is a terrific player but he might have a better chance on a tight table - Chris is too good on a standard Diamond.

If you didn't see the match - well, I guess you'll have to take my word for it. In my opinion, Chris is a better player now than he's ever been and I would like to see more tournament action from him.

All the nasty stuff I have seen and heard about Hennessey. I am glad Bartram won!

Enough money on the light will let you endure just about anything. I could not play someone so poorly behaved and unsportsmanlike!

Karma, I guess pulled him through??? I personally solute the smooth criminal.

At one time Chris vowed not to play him because of that. They must have had a deal to not talk, because Hennessey was pretty good throughout the match. Toward the end he didn't like the rack Bartram was making. They were using a template so I don't know what's not to like. Chris handled it well - didn't bother him at all.

I agree the pace was slow and he was killing it. I know that felt double bad to be in the chair like that and getting picked apart. The exact point I knew the match was over was when Chris back cut the 8 ball in and went 3 rails for shape two games in a row and hit it perfect both times. You could see he was dialed in at that moment and Henny was just searching for a rhythm. I think the score was still within 7 or 8 games at that point and it never got closer after that point in the match. It was only a matter of time from there...lots and lots of time

Exactly it is/was a shark move!!!

CB was on a package and complaints slow the game down and 'ice " the kicker like in football. He will do "anything" to rattle or upset his opponent!

He doesn't think he can win on the "square"???

Bet he removed all the chalk off the table? Another move! Bartram having to beg for the chalk! His signature move. Disrupts the normal preshot routine unless you play with a magnetic chalk holder.

It sucks to play people like this. Wiggling while shotting and the works he had to endure.

Chris isn't flashy, he's methodical.

I really hope that with his 'grind it out' abilities and high caliber play that he will get some serious consideration for next MC team.

he's def proven his mettle and how pressure-proof he is.

Tourney play wasn't the definitive road map for making last year's team.

Nice shooting, sir.

We are fortunate to have a guy like Bartram posting here. He might need to do better in a major tournament to make the Mosconi Cup but I'd be glad to see him get a chance.

Thank God Bartram won. Players like Henessee who try to pull a Mika do not deserve to win :D

Chris does seem to be very methodical in the way he plays. He has his routine and he sticks with it. His pace may be slower than others, but it apparently works well for him. Every shot is well calculated. While he isn't flashy, he is certainly playing very well.

I've gambled a bit on both sides of the rail.....
...Chris Bartrum is the type of player I like to bet on.
Napolean admired the English soldier for the same reason, they would hold their ground.

Or, as Billy Incardone said "Solid beats spectacular."

My thoughts on Chris as well.

He might not like what I think but I think Chris is the best on controlling his emotions, and that gives him an edge as he treats the table the same when he 20 games ahead as well as 20 games behind.

Earl, obviously is the WORST, I have seen. Earl has perhaps the greatest gear and firepower, but let him get behind and half the battle is behind you.

If Chris ever gets emotional when he plays he sure doesn't show it. Defiantly not like others. IMO this is commendable from a sportsmanship standpoint but I also believe it helps players not get distracted by how they are feeling when they are down or miss a shot. Chris doesn't seem to spiral down easily like others.

I think Bart was pocketing balls really well and was breaking very consistently. I think he lost his turn at the table a few times was because his cueball was traveling with the one to the top of the table leaving him with a bank and from there a safety battle.

It was good to watch. Bart was a class act and it looked like Hennessey was more composed near the end.

Bart why don't do you think you play better gambling opposed to tourneys? You just stomped the guy who stomped you in a long tournament the day before. Was it because it was on the box?
