I drove down to the tourney with my buddy. The layout is good the table look nice the big 10' tables are as announced BUT today they announced absolutely no money games or something like that meaning no gambling at least in the big table area. This will be quite different from DCC if there is no action allowed. Plenty of people are here who get in the box for the cash but if that is strictly enforced this tourney will be negatively impacted at least in my opinion. I have not been to the bar box venue yet so I do not know if they will be enforcing that rule there as well, I do not believe that hotel has a casino on its premises so it might be allowed. What are others seeing down here. Well its almost two I got to go check for my first round draw. Later on.

In almost all situations it is illegal so they have to announce such things for their own protection and possibly because it is required.

I think it's more like "NO GAMBLING ALOUD" .

This sign should be in every poolroom and tournament venue....

I really don't think it will be a problem....

There will be plenty of action and gambling. I already have a couple of bets. I'm sure their not going to have the gambling police cruising around.

Bet it up boys and girls............Let's have some fun.......

In many jurisdictions private wagers between two players are fine. Sometimes there is a problem if a third person gets involved.

Playing pool for money is not illegal gambling.Gambling on a pool table maybe against the rules if the house has other forms of gambling as dictated by the gambling commission for that state? To my knowledge side bets on a money game are illegal.

It may be that they don't want tables in the tourney room tied up with money games,so as to leave them open for warm-up/practice or prevent the money games from slowing down the tournament?

it's the casino....

All casinos operate under strict licensing regulations and supervision. It's the same way at DCC; I have one of the "no gambling allowed" posters from DCC hanging in the pool room. The fact is that gambling anywhere except on the tables as a part of the official games or in the sports book puts the casino's license at risk. So the official word will always be "no gambling" and the best thing to do is not talk about it until it's over. It's hard to think that the organizers [or the casino] are unaware of the prohibition and the likelihood that it will be ignored. The trick is just to keep it on the down low and not be announcing money games over the PA.

There won't be any gambling in Tunica. Just a lot of 2 person tournaments that only pay down to first place.

This is exactly right. IIRC, couple of years ago two guys got nailed by Riv security during the BCAPL tournament for gambling in the action area. I heard the real problem was that they were getting so loud and obnoxious about the wagering hotel security had to do something. Never know when the gaming commission might be lurking and the license is everything to the casino.

Well....for there to be no gambling, I just heard that Shane and Cardone are playing a nice little 1P game for a decent sum right now. Billy came up with a game that he likes his end of....for the record...I do too.

Get 'em old school.

There is also the action room located at the convention center where the bar tables are. Something like 9+ for action. Pretty good atmosphere this evening but only expecting it to get better. There are casino shuttle buses running back and forth between the main tournaments and the convention center. Ktown, I believe they quit even.

I caught some of that game and it is not in the casino location. It is 1/4 mile away or more in the convention center there is no casino there and the gambling is much more in the open.

Thanks for the clarification, I just knew they were playing.

I wish I could have made it to this event but this is the wrong time of the year for me and pool to get along. Maybe next year I can get my ducks in a row and make it out there, hope you guys have fun.
