:: Southwest - Full Splice + Wrapless + Bridged Point ::

The only problem is that it is not really a SW cue.

The blank was made by someone else and then shipped to SW to put together, sorry but not a "true SW".

Don't know what it will do for SW image but it's not looking good from where I sit and I have heard other comments that echoed my thinking.

Shame on the people that talked SW into doing it and shame on SW for doing it.

I don't understand the negativity.

I'm not a SW fan but I'd buy this in a heartbeat if given the opportunity

Let's see, taking a $375 blank made by someone else and then adding your name to it so they can find some fool that thinks it is a "true SW" and pay about 6 times the true value of the cue.

Shame on the people that talked SW into doing it and shame on SW for doing it. I believe that SW did not know that the cue would be sold but thought it was going to a good home. I would almost be willing to bet that person will never receive another cue from SW again. I could be wrong but time will tell.

All i see is a second thread dedicated to a cue that already had a thread dedicated to it.

Ps, Southwest cues have a boring look

That has to be one of the most idiotic posts I have ever read on AZ, and that is saying a lot these days. I might expect a comment like that from a newbie, but not from a cuemaker that has been around a while. You sir have no clue what you are talking about.

Jive, this is a super nice cue. Great effort on both sides. It is understated but yet very dynamic, like most classic items. It is hard to stand back and listen to the negativity. All I can say to this individual is - The day you can comment about SW image is when you have a 10 year waiting list yourself.

I thought the same thing at first about the blank but after some reflection,
i can't think of many top of the line cue makers who haven't made a conversion from someone elses blank. Don't really have an opinion on the rest of it because i'm neither a SW buyer or seller

Well using the last comment as a guide, any titlist conversion is a fraudulent effort by a cuemaker... *snicker*

I learn so much on this site it's scary....

As to the remarks wanting to bet by Brick

I will bet $5000 against a hoppe style 4pointer you make that Laurie knew I was going to sell the cues and that she will make me another SW

I have it on order now

I will donate your sneaky Hoppe style to a worth while cause

Mr Brick, you have a pretty good reputation as far as I know and i would like to have one of your cues free

Why do people criticize the widow of the worlds greatest cue maker,Jerry Franklin

Why do they criticize the little widow for hanging in there when she had to survive the death of her husband the love of her life?

She did that and then suffered through a bout with cancer that would have beat most people,Then she kept the name and quality of South west cues at the top.Is it because she is the best that causes all the complaints,is it jealousy?

Jerry Franklin built special cues for me using Titleist blanks,Verl Horn points and other things

He as she always required me to fully disclose everything to be sure nobody got snookered

I love Laurie and the whole team that makes the most desired cue in the world,,Mickey .and Al are still making the same cues the same way with the same great hit as Jerry

So, I offer to take Bricks bet

On the other end,Brick is probably not a bad guy,I hear he makes a good cue,he probably works hard
to put out a quality cue and it makes him wonder why people would pay 5 times as much for a south west.

why does Szamboti get big prices? I will tell you why

People know quality and love the Franklins and they loved Gus and Love Barry too

To most people one of these two is the best, why criticize the people who have earned their reputations?

As far as Brick goes, please wake up apologize, admit you ran your mouth
we can all identify with that.Who doesn't have to eat crow now and then

John Barton even went overboard once, and yet we all like him,

Thanks to the people who have corrected the rash statements on here

Oh yes,Jive and his friends are among the best collectors of pool
in the world, why would anyone with a lick of sense offend him?
Go out of their way to upset the most important man in pool, the customer

Go figure.

This is going haywire

The negativity is pure jealousy. So many threads about the lack of ingenuity by SW. So many threads about what is a custom made cue. So many threads about how cuemaker A is not worthy of his prices etc. How about switching mindset?

I look at this thread and my mind starts to think about what cuemakers I would want to pair up.

Barry Szamboti and Dennis Searing
Mobley and Ron Haley
Joel Hercek and Bill Schick
Tony (Black Boar) and Ernie Gutierrez (Ginacue)
John Showman and Manzino

The list of talented cuemakers are endless and the end product can only be something we would all be fortunate enough to enjoy.

You know, crow really ain't half bad in a teriyaki stir fry.....:D

Well said. Good form!

The way I see it Laurie gave great customer service for sure.

Jake's FS Blank with bridged points finished by SW is a one of a kind monster cue.

Very valuable and desirable me thinks.

Rick

It's a SW cue. It may have begun as Jake's blank, but it's a SW cue. I have converted blanks from several other sources besides my own, and every one of those cues are mine.

Honestly I don't know why there're so many people against your comment. I think you're right! I'm gonna burn any Balabushka I see from now on that was made using a Brunswick Titlist blank! Those blanks are mass produced in a factory, with heavy equipments therefore they trump Jake Hulsey(who?!) who makes his blanks with bandsaw! Heck, I think guys like this Balabushka, Paradise, Palmer...are all just degrading themselves! I'll burn everything I see! Who's this other Gus guy doing OEM for Bushka? So many cues I think shouldn't exists.

The master of $200 break cues have spoken...those comments against you know nothing of your excellence!

It's a a SW cue... Oh yeah, Jake, you can send me all the full splice bridged blanks you want for $375 :)... Let's start off with a Ebony and Coco one.. holly, green, holly veneers... I'll be waiting.. :)

I have had a couple SW's in my time that are the exact same circumstances.

Here are pictures of just one cue JERRY made using the nosepiece from Verl Horn, and that was in 1991. There has been collaboration cues before and there will be again.

Please never make this an issue about Laurie or her dedication to the profession, and carrying on the tradition proudly of her beloved Husband.
Not many better people out there.
Best,
Ken Kerner

South West / Hulsey

Mr. Brick obviously hates South West cues, or is highly jealous of their success! This is a QOUTE from when l posted my 12 Point it the Gallery last year. Now he wants to criticize Laurie Franklin, Jake Hulsey, Dean, and the buyers of a high end collectible as well.

Like l said in my 12 point thread last time - " Anyone Need A BRICK?

Ruined a good cue is my opinion. Might have been better with a veneer on long points to give some separation but as it stand just too busy and plain.

Now he comes at this cue like this:

[ QOUTE = Brickcues; ] " The only problem is that it is not really a SW cue.

The blank was made by someone else and then shipped to SW to put together, sorry but not a "true SW".

Don't know what it will do for SW image but it's not looking good from where I sit and I have heard other comments that echoed my thinking.

I would just like to say i think this thread is awesome! If i knew the haters would respond this way then i would have made the blanks twice as fast and for free.

FYI....i just purchased an Alex Brick cue made with a Davis blank.
