St. Louis, Where to play?

I am in St Louis till either next friday or saturday. Where is there a nice pool hall (pref non smoking but not required) to play. If I get some time I would like to be able to go play a little bit. I am staying at the Sharaton on S14th st. Thanks guys

I no longer live there but with that in mind...

Cue and Cushion is a nice room but the do smoke there unless it has changed.

Illinois has no smoking, you might try Riverbend Billiards in Alton. Riverbend used to have a deal where you could get free table time during the day if you bought lunch. For action the Break in Cahokia.

Somebody who still lives there should be able to give you more detailed information, but that's a start.
 
If you don't mind the smoke, Cue and Cushion is a great pool hall with a 10 foot snooker table, a heated 3 cushion along with several 9 footers. They do not serve alcohol at Cue and Cushion, if you are looking to grab a drink while you play.

The Break in Cahokia usually has some good action. Has three 9 footers along with approximately 10 bar boxes. Good rates. $3 an hour. It is in a questionable part of town but good pool hall. Monday night they have a 9-ball tournament $10 entry.

For no smoking rooms, you can hit Riverbend in Alton. Here is the address:

You can also hit Baxter's in Fairview Heights which is about 10 mins from you. Two 9 foot diamonds and several 8 foot and bar boxes.

One of those should fit what you are looking for.

I used to go to school down there. I know that Mark Wilson opened a pool hall called the Billiard Bullpen on the Illinois side. I can't remember the exact city name, but friends that I have down there say it is a nice place.

Their is a 2000 added tournament this weekend in Quincy Illinois, starts Saturday at Noon and will last ALL day and possibly into Sunday?

You can mapquest Rack Daddy's in Quincy.

Jack Patricks, a bar downtown St Louis at 10th and Olive. They have 3 tables.

Would love to come but I am unfortunately training this sat and sunday as well. About the only time I have is maybe after I get done around 8pm or so during the eve. But then I have to prepare for the next days classes.

First time teaching a bunch of people and im a slowpoke...This new Education benefit for our Vets is pretty complex and its changing every day...so its hard to keep up with the changes. :scratchhead: :sad: :banghead: :speechless: :shrug:
 
Teachers Billiards in St Peters has a Friday Night (7PM I think) and Sunday Afternoon (1:30PM I think) 9 ball tournament with a break and run side pot that is up over $1,000. They usually get about 30 players.

4 9fts a few 8 fts and a bunch of bar boxes (coin operated). It's a bit rowdy on the weekends and filled with kids mostly, but it's across the street from a couple of bars if you want to take a break and grab a beer. $12 gets a table all night.

A bit nicer place, but with even more kids is the sister place to SportCenter (the same owners)

Mark's room was in Granite City but I'm pretty sure it closed.

The pool room is Granite City is called THE BILLIARD CLUB and it is still open. The address is 1820 Cleveland Blvd. Granite City, Il 62040 618-451-1517.

Mark Wilson's pool room was called THE BULLPEN and it is closed. But it was in Collinsville IL.

Airport Billiards, St. Louis, Il (Was owned by the late Harry Sims...I hear his wife is still running it. I've only been there a couple of times a fewyears ago. The tables were lightening fast, but level.

Teachers Billiards, St. Peters, Mo (Lot's of bar tables, 4 gold crowns, occasional tournament on Sunday and Monday nights)

Cue and Cushion, Overland, Mo (Pretty much all 9 footers, and a couple of 3-cushion tables. Good clean equipment, and good players...great place to go if you're a serious player and interested in a little action playing just about any game.)

Cuetopia, St. Louis, Mo (Harold's new place...he used to own Billiards on Broadway if you're familiar. Mostly 9-footers and a great place for one pocket action. Good equipment, plenty of elbow room and Harold's a great host.)

Sports Center, St. Louis, Mo (Mostly 9-footers, another one of those rooms the good players go to match up! ;-)

Ride the Rail, St. Louis, Mo (Mostly bar tables, a few 9-footers...home of the annual Pepsi Classic tournament.)

Side Pockets, St. Peters, Mo (Good equipment, slower napped cloth on the bar tables, 4 9 footers, more of a upscale sports bar type environment, really good food, and usually pretty good scenery if you know what I mean! :-)
