If you can't tell (from my username) I am a fan of Lotus.

My username comes from my love of the Type 79 Formula One car that Mario Andretti drove to his World Championship but the Esprit was also designated
Type 79.

Jay,

You are so correct!! The Esprit's license plate is 77 ESPRIT. May change it this year and go to TYPE 79. Fewer people will understand the source but those in the know sure will.

Stang,

That is one beautiful cue! Don't think George ever made anything quite as perfect. Amazing what "mass" production can do. Hope Gene is as amazed as I am. Job well done. Thank you.

Looks like Lotus is even money on making the F1 grid this year.

Your post, especially that last bit finally broke the camels back for me. We should respect our elders even when they lie and deceive us? I'm sorry if my words are harsh. But this guy who had his cue stolen perpetuated a lie for so long people believed him. Are we supposed to immediately feel sorry for someone who had their cue stolen just because they're old and "well liked"? He lied and deceived to make friends/get people to talk to him.

It's a shame there's a thief out there with his cue. But I just cannot help shake the feeling that I have. A feeling that tells me that I don't feel remorse for someone's lie being exposed. I just believe this is karma. I'm sorry I'm saying this, but I just can't help shake the feeling that this was brought on by his lies and had he not lied he'd still have his cue. Something just irks me about supporting a guy who has deceived everyone he knows.

Thanks for your honesty. I also believe in Karma, just like I respect my elders (maybe since I am one now ).

Okay guys; we got action!

I sent paypal payment for Gene's replacement cue; I sent it as a gift so it was $412 total with their fee.

I offered the az member who is making us this great deal for the cue that we could cover shipping and he said, no, he'll also take care of that.

I asked him if he minded if I mentioned who he is and he said he didn't care one way or the other so I will because he deserves credit and notice for his generosity. This is az member cuesterpat. Thank you Pat!

The cue will be shipped Monday to txstang1 (Steve) in TX via USPS Priority Mail and he should have it in time for their Thursday night presentation to Gene.

So, I need to collect $412 minus my $20 pledged making the magic number needed now $392.

Just below is the list of who needs to pay and how much.

But Before You Do...

***PLEASE*** when you send payments to me via paypal, do so as a gift or to family & friends so I don't get hit with fees.

***ALSO VERY IMPORTANT*** When sending paypal payment you MUST put in the note section your az name and that it's for Gene's cue.

Okay, you can go ahead and send your payments to my paypal acct which is BCLyme@aol.com

kickin' chicken = $20 - paid

I will call on our back up pledges to help out if anyone listed above doesn't follow through on what they've pledged.

txstang1, thanks for bringing this problem up here on az and giving the good people here a chance to right a wrong.

I really like the picture you posted of Gene with his Marlboro Golds and cup of coffee ready to sweat some action. I can't wait to see the pics from when he gets his new cue.

To everyone who pledged and to cuesterpat, all of you guys rock!

To whomever stole Gene's cue, I hope you get what you deserve, soon..

best,

That is a beautiful cue. Here is a link that shows it a bit closer up and gives the details.

They play damn good. I have the CS-436 model that is very similar. It is the one on the far right in this picture.

Is this an entry for the last scam of the year? George was not selling cues in 1957 and was probably not giving them away. Where is Gene Burns dd 214? A pool cue may not be the only thing stolen.

I had to quote and reply to this, just to get the poster's name up there one more time for all the AZB world to see (reminder, others have trolled nearly the same words).

Imagine living in a world where some good guys with common interest come together in the spirit of the holiday season, to pool their resources and present a generous, expensive gift to another of their number, an older man, to try to ease the sting of the man's recent hurtful loss.

The old guy will most likely be brought near to tears when he learns what people have done just for him... so what happens to put a pall of smoke on all this fine generosity...?

An ugly stinkin' puke green troll crawls out from under his brokeback ramshackle bridge and hollers:

"Hunh? wassa happnin? Whatever 'tis, gotta be bad, right? Bad bad bad, Trolly never trust, ever body is evil con, never help never, no none good, peepul alla time evil tricksters, steal lint from ur pockets, That's what Trolly do, ... if Trolly could do... if anyone anytime believed Trolly anyway. People bad bad alla time alla dem, never believe, no, never cut slack. A happy Trolly is mad sad, never ever glad.

...and now, presenting:
"The Trolly Way"
(beats down on the down beat):

"Troll troll troll ur moat,
Grumpy crahp-yur pants,
Grumpy-grumpy-grumpy,
Stinky Trolly Way..."

Trolls do what trolls know how to do. Do-do, as in poo-poo.

It's 'The Trolly Way'!

Happy Trolly-days, and a Harpy Gnome Year.

HI Just read about this stolen cue there are still generous People on AZbilliards members

Cheers And Happy New Year 2015 to all azbilliards members

I'm going to present the cue and case to Gene tonight at 7pm. However, the cat is already out of the bag. Someone , who didn't know it was gong to be a surprise, told him what was going on a few days ago. No big deal though because it doesn't take away from the spirit of this kindness. I was a little worried that it would get out early.

We called Gene last night to ask if he would be at the billiard den tonight (he usually is). He nope , it's gonna be 9 degrees windchill, I'm staying in tonight. Glad we called !!! He said he will be there at 7.

I'll get someone to take some pictures and make sure he know who and where this act of kindness and generosity came from.

Thanks again , y'all !

unbelievable...

last night I'm at the pool hall hitting some balls with my friends and having some beverages and it's insanely cold here in CT, like around -15f with the wind chill.

I go out to start my car to let it warm up for 10 minutes and went back inside to get my gear and say goodnight.

when I go back outside, my car is gone, vanished, mia.

So I figured that since there were so many generous people here on this thread, it would be a great place to do another fund raiser.

The car is just like Lyn's (cardiac kid), it's a red Lotus and I'll need $83,660 for a new replacement, might as well upgrade to the new one, right?

I'll start with a c-note and that leaves just 835 more people needed for a c-note each.

Of course I'm just kidding but I def do like those Lotus cars.

On a serious note, I hope tonight will be the night for gentleman Gene to get his new cue.

Looking very much forward to that report.

have I said thanks enough yet to all who made this happen? :)

the one part of my story above that was true is the temp. Damnnnnnn it's cold here! :yikes:

EDIT: Just saw txstang's snuck in a post while I was writing this one. Looks like it's on for tonight. nice.

best,
brian kc

Brian,

I have an uncle in the business. I can get you one at cost :D :sorry: !

Hope Gene has one of the best nights of his life tonight. Wish I was there to see it. Wow, what great felllow members we have on AZB!

Sincerely hoping you were kidding about your car. My Acura (Honda) remote starter works great. Only problem is, as soon as you pull the door handle, the car shuts off. Whether or not the "key" is in your pocket. Isn't technology great!
