Sure would have liked to have seen Shaw play today

I think it depends on what Ustream level the stream broadcaster bought. I believe if it's the free or cheapest one that anything over a certain amount of viewers (maybe over 800 maybe less) it gets choppy. Johnnyt

Why did the stream work perfectly for me through NYG website but completely unwatchable through AZBilliard's website?

As long as they have been streaming pool we shouldn't have to change browsers or try 20 different links. I believe it's like every other thing in pool that puts a wall up from doing it better (like buying the right level of Ustream)...no $ from sponsors. Johnnyt

I know several disgusted fans that tried to watch on their computers.
You should have seen the Mickey Mouse equipment that was used to do the stream. It looked like a $100. camera, which made the tables look 4 x 10. Freeze up, lock up and reboot.
We're thankful that Upstate Al isn't in charge of the heart machine at the hospital. Lets just say the equipment was a good match for the commentary.
I think Al would grab anybody walking by and drag them in the booth. "Hey, I don't know anything about pool, I'm a Blackjack dealer on my break." "Trust me, you'll be fine."

Thank you for the validation itsfroze. Apparently the idiots here didn't understand when I said to not bother telling me that their streams worked perfectly. That's not the point. My point was that people like me and you and probably countless others are at the point that it isn't worth it to watch streaming events because their is no guarantee of quality. And what is it with saying over and over about not complaining about free material? If someone fed you free dog crap for dinner, why wouldn't you complain? That is slave mentality.

The issue was with Ustream, not AZBTV or where they were holding it. My PC would be crashing in both I.E. and Firefox but the iPad app for Ustream worked fine.

You saying that you don't want to watch streamed events because of this is like saying you are never going to drive a Ford because a guy in a Ford once cut you off. If you don't like the quality, shut it off. Blaming the streamers for an issue with a web browser and the web site they use is silly.

They have the full package because they can do overlays and ads on it. The free Ustream account does not let you do that.

The issue was with the Ustream website and the web browsers crashing on some script, seemingy with the chat. My iPad worked fine for streaming but would not load the chat. My PC would freeze the browser and the stream, it seems the Chrome browser was able to handle the issue with the website for those that tried it.

FWIW, every web browser implements the web standards/technology differently (if they choose to implement them at all) and every website does what they do differently as well. I'm in the middle of writing a web application that looks and works the same on every browser and it's a pain in the arse.

So yeah, trying different browsers and links does make a difference and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the stream itself.

Well said. Add to that FLASH updates, firewalls, and cookies, and you've got a nice toxic soup preventing you from watching a Ustream. :D

....It's a shame you call people "idiots" on this thread, but there seems to little to no moderation on AzBilliards these days. The website administration does not want to offend anyone, I guess....

last time he did this, he had to post an apology thread to POV. they removed most of his posts of cursing & being lewd, but they did leave the one where he called Daniel a "sissy". (post #13)

our stream was fine.

As others have mentioned, I have had great streams and then get frustrated at the poor ones.

So if it makes you feel better, we all have been there.

But by and large, overall they have improved the problems with viewing have lessened.

My frustration is the ones that I pay for and I have more problems getting logged on, and through the maze, just to get to the stream. IMO, that hasn't improved a lot. There just has to be a better way.

IMO, streams have improved quite a bit, the log-in needs to be easier.

We are getting there.

No, the complaining in that case would be the worthless piece of crap sense of entitlement mentality, and it is all too common these days. As if they were supposed to be feeding you for free to begin with, as if they owe it to you somehow. I got news for you. Nobody owes it to you to put food in your mouth, or pool on your computer screen, for free. I am not saying that it isn't ok to voice your opinion, or even complain a bit, but to complain as if they somehow owe it to you and you were somehow being wronged and slighted? Completely wrong mentality and completely out of line.

And while we are at it, unless you are somehow paying for it, nobody owes you a damn thing in life, anything, except the right to breathe air. Trust me, as soon as your learn that lesson you will be a lot more successful in life (and a lot happier too)...

I sure would have. 'cept the stream was so choppy I probably would have had an epileptic fit if I continued watching.
I tried watching the previous days' play too, but again, no dice.
I know it's free, and I do thank UpState Al, but for Chrissakes, all future streamers, find a new streaming partner and dump Ustream into the phucking ocean where it belongs. This is the reason why I will never pay for streaming again, until it is proven to me in advance that it won't be a p.o.s. Been burned too many times.
Just because it's free, does not mean it has to be poor quality. If you don't have the proper equipment, budget, streaming partner, whatever, please do me a favor and stay home. Or put a "low-quality" disclaimer up front, so I can avoid the aggravation.
And please don't reply to this thread by telling me I should have downloaded Chrome, or lowered the resolution, or uploaded my anus in Ubuntu while holding the rabbit ears at a 45-degree angle. I don't care if it worked for you. It was crap all weekend for most of us.

I don't know about most... That's a broad term. It was great on the iPad

Will upstate al being posting the Shaw matches to YouTube? That would be great. Therefore if your stream was off, you can always watch them in clarity later.
