SVB live and free in Athens Greece

+1 LOL
Soon someone will blame the streaming as it cut off when he was taking his shot after breaking and when stream came on it was open table for Kazakis to run out the match
Maybe Shane plays best when camera is on :) Shane will be past to make excuses for his loss.

Yes Charlie Williams is probably the slowest . At a WPC years ago, some tot it was a tactic to frustrate his opponent. He is a better promoter, commentator than he is a player :)

You should be proud of the way the guys from this area played....they are very good.
In my opinion Shane did not stall because he was trying to shark Kazakis. Shane stalled because he was trying to figure out how to win like he has done hundreds of times before. This time he figured wrong.
Once again the Greek players are amazing and they are a force.

If Shane had won there would be no problem with the breaking rules ,, funny how that works

I don't think that's true. I like the "no soft breaks" rule. But if someone hits them hard, he shouldn't get penalized for getting unlucky with where the balls go.

I like The Greek player, Kazakis. He's a cool cat.

Will somebody PLEASE tell me why the latest trend for men's hair styles is a point up at the top like the Gerber baby food mascot? This is one hair style that I find odd, yet all the guys seem to be graviting towards this point on the head with their hair. Must take a lot of product to make it stand up like a unicorn point. :grin-square:

i watched both of shane's matches and It looked to me that on the 1st match, while shane won, he appeared to be "not really there", didn't really want to play look on his face. I realize he never does well outside the usa for whatever reason but he did come back to win. the 2 nd match with kazakis........well, that bot shot the lights out and am confident he was shooting above a 950......he did get more good rolls that shane but overall shot better than shane. the break that shane made the ball but it was an illegal break sucks buut overall I think shane was the worse shooter. I disagree with a previos post that we would not complain about the breaking rule if shane had won. we are a pretty smart bunch on the az forum when it comes to pool and I believe we would have certainly made derogatory comments regarding such a stupid rule. if shane did not catch a flight out last night he better get his stroke going today or tsa will be asking him about this tail that is hanging between his legs. thanks for the stream, job well done!

Yes Charlie Williams is probably the slowest .

The rest of this thread is just too crazy to respond. Can't please everyone no matter which way the wind blows.

Anyhoos, this is one of the few posts worth a return. Charlie Williams is not even close to the slowest player. Mike Wong is the slowest by far that I've seen. And I'm sure someone will now tell me about someone even slower.

Freddie <~~~ thinks Mike could give Charlie the 7 in slowness

Mike Wong is the slowest, able bodied player, that I have seen in my extensive 30+ years in pool. Not even close. He gives Johnny archer the breaks, the 2 out wild and 99 games on the wire in a race to 100 where slow play is concerned.

I really like and admire Dick Lane from Texas, but he's probably the slowest player I've ever witnessed. Nice guy, though. :)

Can confirm though I only saw the guy once. He was playing a set with someone,
had his headphones on, and was mulling over a routine shot when finally his
opponent and said something, which mike couldn't hear.

Frustrated, the other guy had enough and smacked the rail with his cue to get mike's
attention and basically said "shoot the fuϲking ball." and went on to rant
that he couldn't fade mike taking twenty minutes before every break inspecting the rack,
and that mike needed to speed it up if he wanted to continue playing sets with this guy.

Theres a youtube vid of Mike Wong vs Earl. Wong's the slowest player I've ever seen IRL and online.

Haha. He was given a warning at the U.S. Open this year when he played Michael Yednak in the first round (also known as a very slow player). Their race to 11 took 4.5 hours and put several matches behind on the day. Watching them play is like watching paint dry. Literally. Probably slower than that, actually.

Granted this is the 1st time I've seen Kazidas play, but it's my opinion he takes more time from one shot to pulling the trigger on the next than Daz. I also counted 20 practice strokes on a break shot alone. Perhaps it's the constant up and down thing Kaz does that irks me. Or maybe I need a beer.

Kazidas played extremely well but there were two things that bothered me during the match with SVB. First, his slow play was torture to watch. On most of his shots he took way too many practice strokes. I noticed all of the strokes he took on the break and the way he constantly got up and down leaning into a shot. It may be the way he plays all of the time so to each his own, but his mannerisms were definitely annoying. The guy would definitely not do well in tournaments with a shot clock. Second, I was one time during the match when was hooked on the 3 ball after the break and in anger or frustration, he slammed his break cue butt down on the floor several times, instead of just accepting the bad luck and pushing out. I feel that in a tournament with high profile players such as SVB, Feijen, Souquet and Ekonomopolous, Kazidas should have exhibited more professionalism.

Maybe he will mature with age like Earl did:eek:

Shane wins 50-21! He is playing beautifully right now; such precision and control and creativity. Kind of reminds me of Earl at his peak.

It was awesome to watch, he only got out of line a couple of times and only missed a couple of hard shots.

Was it that Shane's jet lag wore off or does he just shoot better one vs one in a longer race?

Damn, he shot great today!
