SW on eBay

i think most SW cues are 28.75" butts and 29.25" shafts.the pin and joint collars don't look quite right either, but Joe is right it's hard to tell alot from those pics.

The cue actually does look like a SW to me. The pin is consistent with SW cues made in 1991. But better pictures would be a great help. Although I can't remember ever seeing a SW that had double butt cap rings and didn't have A&B rings. But I'm sure that could be a possibility.

It looks right

One of my friends ordered mirror cues. One maple points and one reversed maple points and that thing looks like one of them. It was a early 90's cue.
Nick :)

i was thinking the hole was smaller in '91,but i could easily be mistaken.also the distance form the last thread to the top looks longer to me than most SW.

It looks right to me but if you know someone close to that location (it's not coming out of Asia) then I'd have them look at it.

But... on second thought... why not just wait for a seller whom you know, on AZ, to offer up a SW you like?

You right...they are becoming scarier because you can get them for 1/5 of the price w/ no wait list and they are starting to hit as good as the SW..right now they look just as nice LOL>>:)). What scarier is that if they really are that good, what will happen to the price of SW? But demand for SW will always be there as they have really strong branding and funny enough the strongest demand are from Asia.

Asia is starting to come out with more and more quality cues as they acquire more and more knowledge on how to build good cue. Probably in another 10 years, you will see some amazing cues from asia that will rival that of some of the best in this country. As billiard become more popular in Asia, you'll have people with more investment in quality cue production and more custom cue builder. I think Japan had some really good cue builders and there are starting to be more custom cue builders in Asia.

Just a thought.

Btw, that look like a really nice SW. Ebony forearm franklin are hard to come by...would be nice if it can be pick up for under 2K.

Regards,
Duc.

Dumb Question But Didnt Southwest Normally Ofsset The Rings? Dont Recall Them Lingin Up On Any Of The Cues I Have Seen!

It does have A&B rings. You might be thinking of C&D rings (above & below wrap?).

The part that concerns me

I keep seeing all these high end cues for sale on eBay and the sellers have 0 or less than 10 a lot of times on the feedback. that worries me.

you are right.they have a unique way of offsetting the rings for security and i didn't think to look that that on Ebay.also the ferrules look a little long too,but that could be camera trickery.

on another note, just b/c the guy bought it new as a SW doesn't mean it's a SW.i have seen a few of the fakes and they are very close.a buddy of mine has one that was made in Kentucky and it looks pretty good.he bought it as a real one and it isn't.

This Guy Deals With Indy Q Alot Like I Said I Can Call But Im 99% Sure I Know This Guy And He Buys And Sells A Few High End Cues A Year Also Good Player

The Rings Were The First Thing I Looked For, I Always See Alot Of The Knockoffs With The Rings Lined Up!! Every Southwest Ive Ever Saw Had Them Offset!!!! I Used That As A Guage Awhile Back When I Was Just Starting To Look Around At Them, At Least It Was Easy Start! But Thought Maybe I Was Wrong!

You are correct...But Laurie refers to the rings A-above & B-below the wrap so I have always followed suit when describing them. The only road I won't go down with her is when she calls veneers...laminates. I could never wrap my arms around that one...

I just checked my 9pt SW and the rings at the joint line up perfect. And yes, I know this one is for sure a SW:)

OK...we can clear this up right now. I just got off the phone with Michael Bunker from SW cues. He said they pay absolutely no attention to try and line up the ringwork. As for the bigger whole in the top of the pin, those were actually made by SW and now they are rolled and can use a smaller hole as the purpose for the hole is now just to spin the cue when it's been put together. I hope this helps...

Its Obvious They Dont Pay Attention To Ligning Up The Rings ! Correct Me If Im Worng But How Many Southwests Have You Seen With The Rings Lined Up? And How Many Ofsset Exactly To The Middle Of The Opposite Next Ringwork? Maybe Im Blind I Dont Know!
