*** Szamboti 4pt Ebony ***

Congrats Terry on this wonderfull nice Cue, now I know why the Searing have to must go;)
One Question: it was making for you why you not ordered it with an Ivory Joint:confused::scratchhead:
Ralf

The cue was not ordered originally by me,
but I was fortunate enough to be able to
get the cue sent directly to me from Barry
so I have the shipping box, the bill of sale,
and a note from Barry addressed to me. It
appears from the outside looking in that the
cue was originally ordered by me due to all
the above mentioned items that came with
the cue, but I would be lying if I told you I
ordered the cue originally. If I had ordered
the cue originally, I would have ordered an
ivory joint I believe. But this is in keeping
with the old school look, just fine as well.
Enjoy the pictures and thank you for all
the compliments my friends...

Well...I have to say the "wait" for the pics was worth it...I agree that this has got to be one monster player...congratulations!!! ;)

Jason

congratulations

This is a sensational cue. I love Hoppe style cues and Barry's cues are like no other! If you ever tire of this one, just let me know!

It is very refreshing to see a "players" cue from Barry. It seems most cues from Barry these days are put directly into a collection and are rarely played with. Just like you, I would play the $hit out of this cue. For one simple reason - it WAS meant to....

This cue is what I would order if I was on his list.

Congratulations,
Chris

Thanks Chris. I couldn't agree with you more. I made
a decision to make this cue my player from the
day I found out I would be able to get this cue.
I've seen some threads that were started here
on AZ that posed the question whether the OP
should chalk his new Szamboti or not. I wanted
to reach into the computer and strangle the guy
for even asking such a stupid question. Of course
you should chalk the cue, that's what it's meant
for, to be played. If you're not going to play with
the cue, you might as well take a picture of it, and
hang that on the wall and call it art, and sell the
cue to someone who will use it as it was intended
to be. I had a conversation with Barry, and believe
me, he was thankful that I was using the cue as my
daily player, and he said as much. I called him and
gave him my feedback of the performance of the cue
after I had an opportunity to play with it in leagues.
We have a member here on AZ, Gurnee_Steve, he
can verify this story...
I got the cue, took it to pool league and jokingly set
a ball right in front of the pocket and said "At least I
can honestly say I made the first shot I ever took
with the cue." I then took the ball and set it about a
diamond and a half from the long rail and pulled the
cueball back and cut the ball down the rail at about
a 45 or 50 degree angle (on a 9ft table) and drilled
the shot center pocket. (Gurnee_Steve, feel free to
verify this for the folks) I then threw all the balls on
the table randomly and proceeded to run out the rack
and pocket the 8 ball. Steve grabbed the 8 and spotted
it back up and said "now finish running the rest." So I
ran out the rest of the rack and pocketed the 8 ball
again. Did not miss a ball with this cue the first full
rack on a 9 ft Brunswick. The cue plays very firm, and
yet with a soft hit if that makes any sense. I offered
to let Steve hit some balls with it and he politely said
no thank you. I don't offer that up very often. But he
has a rain check in his pocket if he chooses to use it!
Thanks again everyone for the kind words regarding
my new player...

It makes complete sense to me. I have a Gus that has 2 original shafts and 2 from Barry that I play with. One of the newer shafts is thicker than his standard 13 mm. Mine has such an elegant feel to it. Hard to adequately describe, but it is clear that you understand.

Great decision to play with it. It would be a sin to leave it in a case.

Congratulations!
Greg

Szamboti Cue

Great Barry Hoppe, congratulations! I know it hits so sweet.

I want to by it's partner next to it! Love the SW.

Pm, sent.

Greg
You can't buy every Southwest cue that you see.

Terry
Beautiful cue, enjoy. The perfect players cue.

A Szamboti Hoppe, yummy

You sir are a lucky man. I hope you absolutely love it man. I'm hunting for one myself, but no luck yet. I'll keep looking. That cue is perfect buddy. Certainly a daily player there. I love hoppe style cues, so clean and elegant.
Enjoy,
Dan Z

As someone that has three Gus cues (with Barry shafts as well) I understand where you are coming from. Very nice player you have there...enjoy!

Good Job Terry ! ! ! I guess great minds think alike, LOL. Enjoy It.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words.
I actually got a chance to get out tonight for
a little while and play with this cue, no leagues,
no interruptions, just me and a 9ft Brunswick
Gold Crown and my Szamboti. As I always do,
I take my new acquisitions to my friend Claw's
(Former Wisconsin State Champion) Pool Hall.
I always let him hit with whatever cue I've just
picked up and I value his feedback. He loved this
Szamboti! I know it's my cue and I really don't give
a rat's azz what most people think about whatever
cue I'm playing with, but Claw...that's a different
story. I value his opinion immensely. Like I said, he
absolutely loved everything about this cue, and hey...
what's not to love, right? Anyway, after I played
for about an hour or so it occured to me that I'm
still getting to know this cue. I only played with it
once, which was last Thursday in league play. These
days that doesn't consist of much more than 3 games
during league and a few between league games on a
big table. But tonight I didn't have to worry about how
many points my team was spotting the other team, or
anything for that matter, other than concentrating on
how this cue plays. It plays great, and I think the more
I get used to it the better I'll like it. This Szamboti has
"keeper" written all over it. I'm sure there will be bookies
in Vegas laying odds on that statement by the morning! :)
I'm serious though, this cue plays great and I've finally
found a keeper. Again, thanks to all my friends here on AZ
for all the kind words, and thanks especially to you Kenny!
Your friendship means a lot...
