T-Rex updates

Not a matter of “heard”. Chohan wanted 9-8 to play him last week. Shane asked for 10-8 at the Derby a few weeks ago. So is that decline of Alex and the improvement of those 2 players something that occurred yesterday or something? Many call Chohan currently the best 1P player in the world but he needs a spot. SVB? Well let’s say while he is talented at all games his 1P game is real average given his speed.
I'm not sure who thinks Chohan is currently the best 1P player world, but they might want to look up the results of the last time he played Gorst. I believe Gorst won 21-9 and made it look easy. Most of those games weren't even close. You'd go broke betting against that kid playing anyone but Filler...that's a coin flip.

I wouldn't use the word "erudite" in the pool room. I would fear that the pugnacious fury of the unwashed would decend upon me. Lol
 
This match was two years ago. It wasn't close (24 balls to 8). Since that match Gorst has played a lot of one pocket. Call me crazy, but my money would be on Gorst all day long over Alex.

No one will play Alex even in one pocket for a large amount of money. He plays to good.

i'm all for tournaments over long money matches, but a race to 3 match is a sprint. billy thorpe won the DCC one pocket twice in fairly recent times, and he won the bayou one pocket just the other day. i doubt anyone would bet on billy against any of the contenders mentioned in this thread, even with a one ball spot. in the same line of reasoning, dennis never won the DCC one pocket but few would bet against him in an action match
 
You're acting like the same gambling principles apply evenly across the board. They don't. There's the "rules" that us bums buy into and then there are actual champions. Shane has proven all he'll ever need to prove on the pool table, and he's on record as not even really liking one pocket. So why play? The fact that he's managed to make a good living as a professional pool player tells me he has all the heart he needs and probably even more smarts.
SVB has also publicly made his dislike of gambling clear. One more reason to add to the list of reasons he may not have felt like playing the classless idiot.

It was almost exclusively Shane matching up with all the great players one after another (Reyes, Deuel, Alex, Dechaine, Orcollo, Strickland) until he undoubtedly was the best player in the world in 10-Ball.

Perhaps you aren’t aware, but he’s made a bit of tournament money since then.

You could surely be right, as I don't know nor have I ever met, SVB. But, If you have followed SVB's facebook feed over the past decade or longer, you would definitely not say this. He has called out and woofed at dozens, offered to "bet his own" more times than you can count, and has said many times he would play anyone, for any amount, if the game is right.

I think the difference is the relationship with MR. I would not be surprised if they didn't request that he back away from that type of stuff. At about the same time the 60 minutes interview came out and he publicly disavowed gambling, thus painting himself in a corner, so to speak.

Plus, if you recall his response video to Fedor woofing at him and calling him out, he seemed so laid back and content that I think he is enjoying some of the young guys taking the pressure/spotlight off of him. I never expected to see SVB admit that he probably can't beat Fedor in a long 9 ball race.
 
he doesnt need one he isnt a beggar. and has been a really good person to represent pro pool.

and as all of us, we age and get worse and also lose the desire to maintain the needed skill to compete.
