I don't like the whole pay for 3 days and hope it lasts that long model....

If you make me pay for three days, they better play three days..

No,no,no you pay for the whole thing.. but your probably not going to get it.. hey.. it's the risk of buying an internet stream... we promise as much as we can.. and give you as little as we can get away with...

Fck that..

How exactly does anyone make anyone do anything?

Its very easy to buy the two out of three matches by the day. If you want a shot at saving money if it goes three days there is that option. Since I have yet to be able to determine the future ahead of time that option comes with the same risk I take in offering the discount.

If you buy a UFC fight or boxing match it can be over in two and half hours or take four with the main event possibly ending in minute or less. It all costs the same. When our matches only go two days we continue to replay the whole match for 24 hours. That costs money.

Its real easy to never have to worry about how many days a match goes. Just buy it by the day.

Look at the big ppv boxing. One guy gets knocked out in at 30 seconds of the first round...say goodbye to $50 to $75. Why are pool players and their fans (not all of them)? A fan that goes to one major sporting event a year spends more the a lot of pool fans spend all year. Johnnyt

Ok...hypothetically if you had say Dennis Orcollo and Shane Van Boening and they were gonna play a TAR match which format would you prefer:

Race to 75 over three days.

Race to 30, two out of three sets.

One way you are guaranteed three days but have the possibility of a blow out. The other way you are guaranteed multiple sets but may only get two days.

My gut tells me multiple sets is the way to go but lately there has been some people saying they want to see these guys in a long set so I wanted to see what people think.

Just to keep things on track: Not interested in if someone thinks they should play an all around of banks, cowboy and snooker. Just long set or multiple sets of one game. I know this will do no good but I had to say it for my own sanity.

So what do you think is a good way to see who the best ten ball player in the world is over the course of a weekend?

think about the races to 100, most of them were blow outs, Shane did come back on Donny Mills, but most were one sided, who ever won day 1 won. I think your gut is right and this poll is wrong.

I'm a big fan of the multiple races and/or multiple formats when the players are known for multiple games.

However, in THIS case with these two players, I think we need one single long race.

Both of these guys can get on a run and win 10 racks in a row. The race really needs to be long to show who is best.

I think you can still sell it separately in the VOD system afterwards, just sell it by the day.

....

I voted earlier for race to 75... still like that..... but did not notice this line.. hmmmm.. isn't Busti undefeated on TAR playing 10-ball sets? Alex did beat him in the all around..

But when TAR was doing the 10 ball sets wasn't Busti the only undefeated player of that group (Busti, Archer, SVB, Hatch, Mike D.)?

So in answer to the question "What do you think is a good way to see who the best 10 baller in the world is over the course of a week end?"

I would get the last couple of guys that won the last couple US Open 10 ball events (9ft, 7ft) and Bigfoot Challenges (DCC, Tunica) in the box and see what happens and that would be Dennis O, Busti and Alex....

it is what it is....

Opinions make horse races. I think Shane and Dennis are the two best ten ball players in the world. Doesnt mean I'm right or wrong just means thats what I think.

In this case I actually get to put who I consider to be the best in the world together and see who wins. If others disagree so it goes.

Cool... and I look forward to seeing the race to 75 with these two going at it... Should be GREAT! Thanks again for putting something like this together...

Dennis is the current:

US Open 10 Ball Champ (9 ft)
DCC Bigfoot 10 Ball Champ (10 ft)
2013 USBTC 10 Ball Champ (7 ft)...

Doesn't seem like the table makes a difference....

10 Ball Events 2013 - 2011 (not sure what I missed)..

2013 10 Ball Events
Bigfoot DCC 10 – Ball: Dennis Orcollo

2012
Tunica 10 Ball – Alex
US Open 10 Ball – Dennis
Hard Times 10 Ball – Dennis
DCC 10 Ball – Busti

2011
US Open 10 Ball --- Shane
DCC 10 – Rodney
Hard times 10 ball -- Alex (?)
Predator international 10 Ball – Dennis

Two players. Two poll choices of formats. Pick one.

Freddei <~~~ apparently, it's never that easy

Race to 75 in 1 day

Make it a one day event. If they get tired call a time out and let them sleep under the table for 20 minutes or so.

Make it a test of ability and indurance.

Old timers did it. Why not these guys.

Re the blowout aspect, I think the consensus is these two guys are top 2 or 3 in the world. If we get a blowout, that settles who is best in these two.

When Shane blew out Corey, there wasn't a single person that said Corey just had a bad day. Same with Shane Mika, etc.

With these two players its coming down to proving which one is truly best.

Any other two players I'd go with sets.

Tournaments are cool. Shane has won his share. I'm not going to dig up tournament results to back my opinion. I base my opinions on what I have seen with my own eyes. To each their own. The last time Shane and Alex played a long set of ten ball it was pretty conclusive. Thats what makes it interesting though..everyone has an opinion.

I'm trying to figure out how to purchase video at theactionreport.com, and all I can find are FAQs and broken links. Any help?

Our matches are streamed live. So no video to buy at the moment. I am working on a video on demand option for past matches now. When its ready the info will be on the website.

Either format will be dope, they're both playing well...I can't seem to get tired of seeing Alex and SVB play. What rack are they going to use...Might be cool to see them alternate the breaking format.

Like one day winner breaks, one day loser breaks, and final day alternate break...I like that nip tuck shit though more than a big package...wanna see every ball realllllllly matter. Just an idea though I know a lot of people dislike those formats.

When it comes to Shane and Dennis it's impossible to determine who the better 10 ball player is in one 3-day TAR match regardless of the two formats in question and regardless of the outcome of either. The new TAR model is designed around 4 to 6 hours per day and I think that's a very reasonable and MARKETABLE model.

Only way to determine if one player is truly better is to lengthen the contest and play many sets over many days. But who's going to buy a (30) day TAR match and who's going to sit there and watch it?

Then the question about how tough or soft the equipment is comes up. Is one player favored on tougher equipment or softer equipment? Shane has stated that rotation should be played on softer equipment. Others say tougher equipment is the true measurement. Who's right?

If it's only one discipline I'd prefer to get it done in one day. Time is a premium for me. But I always find myself buying the 3-day events and when the party is over I usually feel like I could have spent my time more wisely.

When it's 3-days I much rather prefer the "all-around" format for variety.

My two cents..

Justin,

the real question is are you really up at 6am & 8am(your posting times in this thread) or is it you havent went to bed yet? That's what the pool fans want to know.:grin-square::wink::p

I agree that to the best of my knowledge Denis and shane are the 2 strongest 10B players right now, there probably is someone in Asia that's right up there as well, but I don't know who or where. So i agree with you, i cant think of who you could put on a show right now that is playing better.

I like the multiple race format, although its all kinda the same, just a different way to keep score, I suppose we could have them play 8 hours a day and who pockets the most balls is the winner. Same game, just a different way to look at it.

main thing is get the deal made and put them in the box, it will be a great show, G/L with the VOD thats the future. Selling DVD's from a catalog like we talked about years ago is history-its not a pension. On that note i feel for Pat Flemming, just a dated biz model. I hope he gets up to date. thats another topic.

see you soon,

take care
eric:)

PS Kelly says hello.

A lot of people claim SVB can't be beat in a long race.

Whatcha mean, Alex did it. I actually think I heard SVB in an interview say he don't like long races.

Anyways, I voted race to 75. OR more.

An Efren/Strickland remake would be great :)
