TAR: OMGWTF vs CubC Video is up for FREE!!

This was great entertainment for 25.00. JCIN did a excellent job on commentary. Not the best players, but the whole story line that went with it was great, Hell we even got a free movie. I,m still laughing about that.

I watched the first two racks. Seemed that Cubc knew what he was doing. OMGWTF let him rack the 8 ball on the wing, so if it goes now the 7 is the 8. He also seems to make balls out in the open easily.....don't think I'll watch all 3.5 hours but he must have nutted up to lose this match--no offense OMGWTF.

I watched small parts of it and CubC looked like a typical fast feel-player. He rushed into shots, and didn't use his time on crucial shots. A player that is either on or off, and when it's pressure and much money involved he will probably be off for the majority of a match. He had some nice shots, especially those tricky shots, so he knows how to make the balls. Perhaps he should read a book about mental game, and take some more time planning his solutions better.

I was positive surprised by the game of OMGWTF. She had some really nice shots, I liked her follow through, stance, and that she kept her head down on every single shot. Her cueing action was way to fast on some shot, and she seems to shot too hard too often. She had a nice rhytm around the table, and didn't take anything for granted. I liked her attitude and play, and I believe we will hear more about the poolplayer Melinda, and not only the blogger OMGWTF, but I hope to hear much about both :)

I watched about 1 hour, and I think the 7-ball was too much for him to give away.

Thanks Justin! I wound up down with a sinus migraine the day it originally aired, so was tickled at the opportunity to watch it...and yes, I watched all 3.5 hours worth! :)

My take after finally seeing it is... for the most part, both were fairly evenly matched in this particular match. Cubc has a decent game, BUT..needs to learn to kick/bank better, and needs to SLOW DOWN!!! Once OMGWTF settled in, she began to control her shots better, and is better at the kicks/banks...and she has a great break!! Both seemed to let the CB get loose here and there.

To be honest, I felt that both, at times, were just shootin' some shots way too hard. When you are dealing with tight pockets, they are not terribly forgiving of these types of shots, and more often than not, the result changes the entire layout of the table. Not necessarily a desired result.

Kudos to both for having the balls to do something like this live on the internet, and for $3K no less! Certainly bigger balls than myself!! :D

Just watched a good part of this match, particularly the end when Melinda took him off. Justin called it early on when he said the over/under should be about five hours, probably less. Good call big guy! And you have a great voice for commentary, plus a good eye for details.

Melinda played a more thoughtful game, taking enough time to see her options. Cubc did not, he rushed way too many shots. What I'm left with in analyzing this match is that the spot shows up a lot more with average players. With top players, the 7 Ball is not a huge spot. In this match, it made ALL the difference. Good move by Mel for making the right game. Her superior break was the other big factor she had going for her.

I liked that after it was over, Mel remained self demeaning, saying that Cubc was obviously the better player. She called herself a banger and a barbox player. Smart girl this Melba is. She is actually just as outrageous in person as she is on her blog. Mel is a great interview because she is liable to say anything. At one point calling herself a "psycho b-tch". You gotta love it.

Bottom line, she was cooler under pressure. He really dogged the final 7 Ball big time! Handed her the last game.

Actually, she never asked for the spot. He just threw it out there. I believe he said she "had the 7 for life". I guess that means a rematch one day?

I hope so. If he'd just take a xanax before the match, he'd be set. :D

Congrats to omgwtf on the win. Apologies to those who bet on me.

This was a new situation for me with tough conditions. Started out good and caught a couple of hangers from a tough table and things just didnt work out. This was a learning experience. I arrived about 2 hours early to warm up but the room was locked until about 40 minutes before the match. First time playing in a hostile environment as well. Now I know just a tiny bit what Earl has had to get used to. Just when you think you have something figured out in this game something new comes up.

As far as shaking her hand at the end of the match goes, I took my time breaking my cues down, putting my shirt back on etc. And figured since when I told her good luck in the beginning and tried to shake her hand and she ignored me that the end of the match would be no different.

I obviously wont be frequenting these forums much except to check for upcoming tournaments. No regrets, no flaming, nothing negative from me. I'd rather have experienced this situation now for only 3g rather than later for more. That's all I'll be saying in regards to this. I'll still bet it up and I'll still be around playing tournaments :).

No, no, no, Chris. You did a great job by showing up and fading everything out there. You lost; it's over. Now get back to posting like usual.

No reason to quit posting man. Worst case scenario: avoid threads mentioning this situation. The most positive thing you can do is, like you said, learn from it and move on as normal.

I don't think you have anything to be ashamed of. On the contrary, you made pool history, and not in a bad way. I am watching this video, and it is great, so many things came together. And you shoot good.

At least something positive came out of the situation and you were able to take it as a learning experience. At least you still have your cue:) .

Dont go away man. You put it on the line, that counts for a hell of a lot. One thing Shane has said to me over and over is that you have to learn from a loss. You may have come up short but you now have experienced heat that many players never will. Use it as a tool to improve and it will make you stronger.

Don't sweat the peanut gallery it is just a part of it. You showed up and played like a gentleman. Put the whole "he said, she said" behind you and move forward. If you choose not to post that is your choice and most would understand but I think you will find many people want you to stick around. The one thing that no one can take away is that you nutted up and played.

I never regarded snide comments as wishing someone luck

As for practise and warm-up, Melinda didn't get much time on that table and, for the most part of her stay in Vegas, played on bar tables. She hit balls about fifteen minutes before y'all's match (if that). When it was over, she had a couple people rush up to her with questions/comments so she didn't have time to turn and shake your hand right away. I watched as you immediately put your shirt back on, collect your things, and leave.

Everyone can say "good for you for showing up" but you started this whole thing by talking smack at her in the first place. I saw you in IP chat running your mouth. Now you can get over yourself and (hopefully) leave her alone. And instead of excuses, you could be a good sport and congratulate her, but that would be a gentlemanly thing to do and your past actions show you don't know what that is.

He Did

CubC did congratulate OMGWTF, in the first line of his post.

She played a helluva match , TAP TAP for that and what a break for a 14 pounder, HAHA, stole your line JCIN. Cub gave it his all as well.

Congratulations to both players.

You stepped up to the plate Cubc. That's more than most on here would or could do (including me). I would think the roast is over. I was one of the roasters, but Melinda and yourself gave us a few hours of fun, wagering, and rail woofing. Johnnyt
