Tell me where to go

Don't think you'll learn a lot from a "bangers" forum. Take advantage of the depth of knowledge available here. And read some of the pocketpoint threads if you want to laugh out loud. Many of the posters here have a great since of humor but you can't be too thin skinned. Welcome!

I think you're just trolling "Pocketpoint".

Whoever he is, this thread is bs. Every novice question I've seen has been answered with painfully long and detailed excellent info. In fact, sharing hard earned knowledge used to be considered against the rules. You should be glad you live in more open times and appreciate this great site.

I am unashamedly a SL3 (APA 8 and 9 ball). I come here every day. I learn plenty. I mostly lurk and learn. But when the situation is right and I feel I can add I will post. You do not need to feel undervalued. As so many poster's before have replied, the only stupid question is the one not asked. So pipe up. This is the most active and well rounded Board out there. And don't forget there are other areas than the Main. Take a look and see. Who knows what you will find.

I am a CPA/APA league player who is an SL4. I registered onto this forum thinking it was a great place to share my fanaticism and learn skills to become better. Yes, I understand that was a mistake. Can the members here suggest another forum where this might be accomplished? It’s too bad this one doesn’t have a “banger board” where lower level players could post their small victories like running out for the first time and such.

I’d also like to suggest that a sticky be created to clearly outline who this forum is for so that others like myself can be dissuaded from joining.

Hang in there, this is the right place for you!

I'm sorry you felt the brunt of some of the downsides of public forums. Trust me, if you tried to have a forum and keep certain types out, they would get in anyway. It really is a melting pot. There are good and bad as there are everywhere. Keep you chin up and keep posting good things. It will make you feel better.

As a matter of fact, I go play in our "Cities" tourney today. Hopefully, we win and get the trip to Vegas!

I play in 3 different leagues. I've been a BCA league player for probably 20 years, but also play in the APA, and the new Pool300 league here in Dallas.

If you find yourself at an event where OB Cues has a booth, look me up and I will shake your hand for your accomplishment! It feels good doesn't it!

I just joined here recently. I'm a fair (at best) player and getting better. I have no idea who anyone is here as I do not follow pool. What brought me to Az was a Google search for Pool Table recovering and Bob DeTurks name came up...and I plan on using him. While here I started reading some posts and threads and found the Forums to be interesting and informative. I purchased a few instructional DVD's based on members suggestions and reviews.
My typical runs were 4-8. With professional help and much practice I can run a rack here and there. I can blow an easy run out. I can get out the hard way. Always a mystery. Regardless of my level I'm comfortable at the table or on this forum. Without every level there is no pool. It's the people that show up to play are the one's that keep the wheels turning. Without people like you or me or anyone here there is no pool. The sport and industry would die.
I guess I'm saying stay around and be yourself. Say what's on your mind...ask your questions. Give the forum a chance. You'll get a lot of positive support.

What kind of ship is that in your avatar?
..anyways..welcome to the forum.
Tramp Steamer and I will watch your back...us vessels gotta stick together.
Some members form 'cliques'...we can form a 'fleet'.

...and a lot of members are like me, been playing for a long time but
can still remember my first shot...chipped whitey onto the floor.
...and a lot of us support leagues.

Tramp is gone. =( Welcome to the forum.

@Mitchxout The original post was a result of my tunnel vision in regards to what I have read in selective posts. I agree that the attitude expressed does not encompass all that this site offers. My apologies. In the future I will be sure to drink more coffee and wake up before going online.

I think I can honestly say that reading this forum alot has increased my abilities by at least a ball. there are a..holes here just like in life but the positive comments and great thoughts far outweigh the occasional idiot. Stay with it; you;ll be suprised how much you can learn from this.

We understand. We've all had those mornings. Welcome to the forum. :)

We've all made a wrongheaded post or two. Keep working on running that first rack, and you can post proudly about it when you do. You'll find lots of support here.

AZ is a virtual pool room -- mostly cool people who share your thirst for the game, and a few *****s who can't get along with anyone. Ignore them. Post on.

You have to be a little less sensitive to be on this forum. Hell I took a lot of heat over my Lucasi pool cue. So far no one has said a word about your 'Gecko" cue.
"Now do we have to take you to mamby pamby land and get you a dose of self confidence?" :grin-square:
Welcome to the forum and ask all questions you want.
If you really want to start a firestorm just mention that production cues are every bit as good as customs.
Oh and you might want to ask "What is the best Tip? We don't see much discussion on that subject.

Take 3 steps back, your here!

Edit:
I confess that was too much drama and over the top. I snapped which reveals my mental game needs much improvement, but I think it does reflect the frustration that some novice players may feel. See also post #28.

Sometimes things get started off on the wrong foot. Like when I asked this guy the other day, is this your mom? No it's my wife!!! Oops. This place is great and there are some awesome people on AZ. About 98%. Yes there are some exceptions and they also can post at will. Try again and don't listen to everyone. My wife calls these type people SD,s POOP DISTURBERS. Cleaned it up for you. AZ has a lot of great posters, knowledgable players, comedians, just about everything. Just as in life don't judge everyone by the actions of a few. Welcome and good luck!

All in,
give it a go. There is a lot of good info on this site, also a bunch of nice sounding people!
if you ever see me around, mostly the metro.....
don't hesitate to say hello!

There are many good-attitude helpful and passionate pool players on this board, but just like any other forums there are many what I call "haters." The best way for pool to grow is to have advanced players to treat beginner/intermediate players well. I actually learned pool from a guy who could string 40 ball runs in 14.1 while I wasn't even close to running a rack. This was all done with us SHARING the table time!

This was back in Taiwan though, where there are a lot of casual, non/rare-gambling advanced pool players. Money wasn't a huge factor but instead most of them had the passion to spread the game to others. I don't want to overgeneralize the American pool scene, but it definitely is a lot more difficult to learn to play for free or for someone to volunteer a couple hours of their time to help a noob get started.

Stick around man, there's plenty to learn around here, but don't let the egos of others get to u!

Just ignore the trash talk there sre plenty on here that will give you good feed back and there are plenty on here that play a far better game on their keyboard than they do on the table but will never admit it.
