Checked the mail the other day and found my Billiards Digest! Strangely, there is a second copy stuck to the mailing envelope. I checked out the label and discovered it was addressed to a home not far from my own (6 blocks). After considering just dropping it off on my way out the next day I decided to look the guy up on Google and get his phone #.

Called him that night and found another pool player who loves straight pool! We struck up an immediate friendship... both retired, both collect cues (modestly) and both love 14:1.

We play every tuesday now. Hundred point games and really, really enjoy our time on the table. He also spends some time on AZ from time to time.

Thanks Billiards Digest for introducing two guys to each other. Strange but true story! Is this "destiny"?

Wow! What's the odds for something like that to happen. Glad you found a playing partner.

Nice bromance story. All jokes aside, that's pretty cool. What are the odds of that happening? It's a small world..

That's a really cool story! and funny that you guys are blocks from each other and met through the stuck magazines.

Looks like

It looks like I am going to have to renew my subscription and hope lightning strikes twice.

Reminds me of the time I subscribed to Inside Pool, except I got... nothing.

Just kidding, that's just amazing to be able to hit it off with a complete stranger through coincidence, or should I say, fate. Cheers to you both!

How cool is that! Thanks for sharing. Love pool tales with happy endings!

LoL I was about to say the same.

Cool story

Great story!

This is one of the best stories I've read on AZ in a long time. You lived so close to each other and it took a strange mailing occurrence to introduce you to each other. Good friends to play pool with are not that easy to find and this was a winner for both of you.

One pocket dot org guys post here occassionally, and then post about how stupid the people on AZ are....

I have met several folks from talking to people on AZ. All great folks that would do anything for you.

I feel lucky to have this way to find folks of similar interests.

Thanks AZ.

In your shoes, I'd be adding an extra $5 to the mailman's Christmas bonus.

Great idea! :)

I also think this would make for a good Dear Editor story in Billiards Digest, if somebody could write it up. It is one of those feel-good reads that I'm sure others would enjoy.

You most definitely got a jelly roll there, Mike. My pool playing "friend" that used to come over once a week moved away a couple of years ago and I haven't been able to find someone to come over and play on a semi-regular basis. I miss my old friend and the many days we spent together shooting pool and solving all of the world's problems.

Hold onto that new friendship tightly with both hands!!!

Great story.

Great story! Funny things happen though pool.

I met my wife at a pool hall, my bother-in law and a family friend both met their wifes in the same pool hall. You could say because of pool there are 6 new kid in this world, one of whom is the Jr MA State 9 ball champion :)

Its a small world most times. Good story. Sometimes things happen for a reason. They're called Synchronicities.

I randomly met my best Bud at the pool hall one night. Just popped in for a quick beer or two and this guy was practicing on a bar box by himself.

He started BSing with me and we ended up playing a few games. We now play on two teams together. My wife calls it my Bromance.

I wish AZB would do something to accomplish the same

Sent in a request a while back about a match up forum where people could post game, 8, 9, 10, 1P, 14.1 etc; skill level; gamble or not; preferred room... Etc

Seems like a natural

So let me get this straight....You get an extra POOL MAGAZINE. You are nice enough to drop off the POOL MAGAZINE to the address it belongs. At the address you find out the the addressee likes pool also....WOW. Now before everyone jumps down my neck....Yes, it is a nice story....Although it is not exactly TWINS separated at birth moving 3000 miles and marrying TWIN sisters but...nice none the less.
