The document of our pool related road trip across the U.S. updated daily

Dude,
Put that carrot and stick routine away. :D

I haven't been in Indy for 10-11 years and have no stake in it, I'm just telling the truth... The way it sounds in the other thread, patience is wearing thin and paradise might be lost.

Money in the pocket has a way of warming up until it burns its way out of the pocket.

Johnny, Rhea is from here. I beat her the last c player tourney we had at the rail. That was a couple years ago but she is no spring chicken and I would guess prob about your speed right now at best.

wait wait wait ... what?!? Rhea - from Ride the Rail?!?!?! I thought she looked familiar, but couldn't place it! Holy hell! hahaha

Yeah, I know her. Her game was coming up a few years ago, a decent C player back then, seemed serious about the game. But the railbirds gave her no end of crap for her personal life decisions. I never understood how she didn't punch them all every day. Heh.

If she's progressed at a linear rate, yeah, we probably play pretty similar. Liable to run a rack once in a while, but still makes it tougher than it should be. heh

Today was pretty decent, I played in a handicapped tournament as a B+ and Gene played as the highest rating they had as an A+++. He had to spot everyone the world and ended up in the final 3 and they all split it against his will he was feeling pretty good and wanted to play the other 2.

It was a 32 player field. I won my first match but lost my 2nd match to go to the B side. Then I got to the hill against an A++ but when I cut in my final ball I put outside on the ball and it followed the tangent line directly into the corner pocket exactly what I was trying to avoid.

The guys I was supposed to gamble with did not show up tonight. We will be in town for 2 more days hopefully I will get to play them again if not no big deal maybe I will get some action in Charlotte.

Today was our last day in Virginia Beach, no action showed up for me today at Q Masters so we headed north to Buddies. Buddies was smoking so we left immediately and headed over to Pockets. I did not play pool today, but Gene got a race to 9 for $100 spotting an A+ player the wild 8 ball on a 9 footer. Gene won the set and the other guy quit. After that he began giving free mini lessons the rest of the night there and ended up booking 3 lessons tomorrow. I will be spending the entire day in Newport News VA tomorrow. Hopefully I will get in some good practice or some decent action while Gene is giving lessons.

Of course it did.

They had you handicapped too high.

Today Gene was super busy giving lessons all day at Pockets in Newport News, I played 1 game of one pocket with a guy named Miles and beat him. Then I went over to Breakaway and played in their tournament and got 7th place then came back to Pockets where Gene was wrapping up his 4th lesson for the night and he sold a DVD too. All in all it was a decent day. We even bought a new jumpstick for Gene. Well time for bed Gene has another lesson booked for tomorrow and I have a tournament to play in at Pockets if they get enough people to show up.

when we left it was reported that "we left only tombstones"

Traveling with Strong Arm, you could write a book on that but it would look like the old Encyclopedia set instead of a book.

LOL

Yes, Strong Arm John and Doug Smith took me out of high school on the road with them. We traveled all over Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, on that first trip. I had left high school on Christmas break and didn't go back until graduation - luckily I had taken enough classes to graduate and the class voted to have me join them in the ceremony (this was a nice gesture and I still thank them for giving me the opportunity to be with them that day).

John and I have won more money together than I would ever want to document. ;) We cleaned up in the Miami area, it was reported that "we left only tombstones"

. LoL - in those days "LEAVING TOMBSTONES" was the ultimate compliment to a road player.

Hey there C.J. This might have been beat to death already on other threads?(dunno actually) but what about a Mary Avina/ Rhea match for the cash? Perhaps something like that could happen when you head east.

Yall are missed...

Big calcutta at Brickyard today. Lots of big hitters and plenty of action. Tommy, Mark, Beak, and others all played a 100 a game ring game last night. Would of been perfect for you Rhea.

Sounds like ya'll are doing good. Keep up the good work. Keep Gene in line out there and in good spirits!

but they're still in TX. and the $$$$'s off the light now.

Scott...I don't disagree with you a bit. In fact, that she didn't recognize that the CB was going to scratch (and what to do to prevent it) tells me that she still doesn't have a good handle on fundamental pool physics. Not only that, but letter 'grades' mean very little. Someone who is A+ one place, might be a B player somewhere else. Going from being a D player to a B player, in less than two months is just about unheard of...especially without serious disciplined practice (and solid personal instruction...not just about 'how to match up right), which Rhea isn't interested in. She just wants to play and gamble...which is normal, and one thing that prevents quick serious improvement for some players. That said, hanging around better players can help someone's game a lot in a short time too! I still wish both of them good luck in their travels!

Scott Lee ~ been there, done that...got the t-shirt! :D

And I don't disagree with anything you said either. In fact, it was my point exactly. I'd really hoped she'd have asked why "of course" but alas, she isn't even that interested. I too wish them the best.

The consensus is that I am a D player, so if you play above D level I need a spot and odds on the money :)

Now you're learning. Always ask for weight odds the snap and anything else you can think of

Today we spent time at Breakaway billiards. I got to practice for about 5 hours playing the 9-ball ghost while Gene gave free mini lessons all night to the APA league members. Breakaway is a really nice place and has tournaments every Friday night race to 3 on the winner and loser side. I intend to compete in the tournament this Friday.

Last night I practiced for 2 hours at Pockets billiards playing a game called Glick or aka irish billiards. A game where you rack 9 balls and break the rack like 9 ball except on every shot you try to purposely scratch by caroming off of an object ball. You keep track of your scratches in a row as your high run. My high run was 9 last night but I am hoping next time I do this drill to beat my previous score.

You're supposed to shoot the lowest numbered ball off of the cue ball and try to make it in a pocket.

I've seen big money on this and 8 ball played this way.

It's a great way to have a tournament.

Try it this way tonite.
