The First 2x4 Case from DW Cases!!!

Hi all,

Here are a few pictures of the first case made by Del of DW Cases (formerly known as The Grumpy Old Cowboy) that holds more than a single cue. It is a completely tooled, saddle grade leather 2x4 with suede covered tubes. It has Del's trademark lid on it, which is hand stitched and reinforced like the rest of the case. The lid is also hand braided.

Want to hear some "oohs and aahs"? Take one of Del's cases into your local poolroom sometime!

Thanks for looking,

Steve

This case is absolutely beautiful. I would be extremely proud to have a couple of my cues in this baby. Wow!!!

DW Case

Absolutely beautiful tooling work. I like the lace work in the lid design as well. Very unique. Definitely an Oooh'er and an Ahhh'er!

That is gorgeous. One of, if not the best case I have ever seen.
Congrats to the new owner.

Glen

Thanks Bruce!

I hope I have it long enough to show you, Lenny!

Thank you, Jim! I also admire and envy them, but I have no talent and no money, a brutal combination...;)

Hi Erich! How's things in Austria? This look like your style of case? We'll have to touch base...

Jimmy, you do need to pick up one of these cases for your collection! I've seen a couple of your cues that would just look right at home in one.

Thanks for the comments, Rex! I love that Spiderman design you're currently doing. I can somehow imagine a collaboration with you and Del...the old master leather crafter and the innovative contemporary case artist (Superman ala Chas Clements)...hmmm...

Glen, thanks a lot for your comments! That means a lot from a collector of your caliber...

Thanks to everyone for dropping by to take a look!

Steve

Thanks Al! I've heard some great things about your cues, too. Are you related to Tony Bautista?

Great case... excellent job on the tooling....

Wonder how long before the other side is making copies of all these new cases...

JV

Thanks Joe! I know you've probably got to see a some of these cases, as you and I have a mutual friend that has a couple in his collection.... I think you might just need one for yourself.

Tommy, thanks for your comment! Always great to hear from another case afficianado!

I think you're right about the copies out there, Dave. Fortunately, a copy just never usually stacks up to the real deal!

Thanks you for looking, too, Chris! Always good to hear from you...

Very nice Steve, ol' DW has got it going on. I think I like the looks of the 2x4's even better than the 1x2's.

i think they already are. i saw some pretty sick cases 2 years ago at a show. tooled and painted up.

Not quite. Those were all ORIGINALS.

I guess since I am on the "other" side Joe might be lumping me in there or even directing the whole comment at me. I will take it as such since I am the de facto spokesperson for "the other side".

Well all I can say is that I am busy making plenty of innovative stuff so no time to copy the way Del does his lids. Although IF I were so inclined to make 2x4 envelope style cases based on the molded pancake method then I would definitely be looking at this technique for the lids as I find it to be technically awesome and superbly executed.

Hunter, these cases ROCK and please convey my sincere compliments to the Grumpy Cowboy as his mastery of leather crafting shines through on every case you show us.

Thanks Rusty! These are going to be a nice addition to his offerings. More room and a nice sleek look.

I'll pass your compliment on to Grumpy, John! He always appreciates feedback from others in the business. You and Rusty are some of his earliest inspirations for becoming a casemaker!

*** I just wanted to let everyone know that this case doesn't have an owner yet. A couple people asked early on about having a 2x4 case from Del, so I asked him to make one that I could offer to folks with the need for additional cue storage. I wanted to give everyone a chance to see the case that might have wanted a larger one. If anyone is interested, please PM me for a price before I put it in the Wanted/For Sale section!

Thanks!

Steve
