The moose head bridge....>=(

It was one of those shots to where i had to turn the head nearly 45% to avoid the balls that were in the way and there felt like a pinch on the shaft...
Oh well i was thinking about turning it down a couple mm anyways...

Dents can be reomved easily without turning down the shaft........speaking from experience. :grin-square:

The best procedure that I have used is as follows:

- get a small hand towel and soak it with water and then wring it out (as much as you can wring.)

- lay the shaft on an ironing baord and wrap the shaft with the damp cloth
- turn your steam iron on high
- put the iron over the dented area and run it back and forth
- rotate the shaft so you get all around the dent

The grain will probably raise if this is the first time for this procedure. Just get some 1000, 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper and finish the shaft. Burnish the shaft with leather or brown paper or whatever you have to get the shaft hot. No pun intended :grin-square:

I don't think normal use would dent it but I'd put moneu on it if you drop the shaft on it too hard or the shaft bounces on it after a hard shot etc.

Anywho . . .

I use a old leather bridge head , don't know who makes or made it but it's pretty idiot proof all around. ;)

The same could happen then with any other metal or regular plastic bridge then wouldn't you think both plastic and metal are harder than the shaft.

It is what it is, and I'm just saying its a wonderful product that I definately stand by and I HATE HATE HATE BRIDGES AND AM SERIOUS

anyways Joel was pretty peeved to find out that someone was trying to re-sell his product and I'm pretty sure it has to do with a particular person that has caused him problems before. I believe this is DUC LAM and would advise anyone about thinking very hard before doing business with this man!

I spoke with him and anyone who is interested just email him joel.weinstock@cox.net

he has them directly from him @ $29.95

Thank you Ghost...I will e-mail him. I got a Moosehead about a month ago and I HATE it. Johnnyt

I used the Moose head and as i followed through it left a rubbed dent in my brand spanking new shaft....
Anyone else had this happen to them??
I hope that this can be fixed...:frown:

I've used the Spinalli (sp?) Moosehead bridge for over 10 years and I have never had a problem with any damage to a shaft.

As far as getting the dent out..here's how you can fix it and leave the shaft good as new:

Put about a cup and a half of water into a whistling tea kettle. Place the kettle on the stove and boil the water until the steam causes the kettle to start whistling. Place the dented area into the flow of steam for about 5 seconds. Burnish the area with a piece of paper towel and check to see if the dent popped out completely (if not, repeat the steam treatment again). Finish burnishing the entire shaft with a leather cue slicker and you should be good to go.

Changes were already in the making, but ideas are always welcome. Joel is a wonderful fellow and I very much admire how much he works on his products, he's a very good friend and mentor. Drop him a line on his email I listed above and I'm sure he would love to chat with you.

I just hated to see such a nice guy getting screwed by someone listing his products for way over price, and some products that are not even his with his name on it. That really pissed me off, cuz the guy is one of the most honest good willed people I've ever met in my life, and to see someone tarnishing his name just makes me ill. So the help is very, very much appreciated woody.

Thanks again sir,
-Keeb

I hate haveing to use any bridge , but the moose antler bridge is what I carry, and I have never done any damage to any of my cue's or shafts at all. But now that you are saying that , I hope it never happens to me!<<ED

Well all is well now that the dent only went as far as the finish of the shaft....
WHHHEEEEWWWW!!!!!!!

Can't say I like that Omni Bridge at all. Only two heights to choose from and the elevated heights don't look high enough to do the job. I'll stick with the "Moosehead".

Well then, you can't really blame the bridge then. Now can you?

Yo guys, don't use the side with the five slots. Flip it over and use the side with two slots, one high and one low. The slots on that side are cut with a wider angle and it won't pinch your shaft.

You can learn a lot from a dummy.

Moosehead Bridge

I received my moosehead bridge this past weekend but am having problems using it. It won't go over either of the tips of my shafts with the rubber insert installed. One of my shafts is 12.5mm and the other is 12.75mm.

I tried removing the rubber insert and it slides over the shaft but goes down to far to use as a bridgehead.

Will someone please help by sharing how you got yours to work?

This is the Moosehead Bridge I have:

This is what the original moosehead bridge design by Spinali looks like. Note, the center rubber has thinner flexible 'lips' that make putting it on and taking it off very easy while keeping it rock steady on the shaft. There are quite a few knock-offs out there.

That Secret Shark Society website is interesting because it reads like it's the manufacturers website. In addition to selling the item for $99 it has a click on for anyone interested in distributorships.

Joe Rackem's site says the retail price is $39.99

The only explanation I can imagine is either they figure someone that doesn't research it will pay $100 OR it is the manufacturer's website and they purposely set the price high so as not to compete with their distributors and also make it look like their distributors are giving the customer a very good deal.

The only thing I've found with the Mooseheads are that they have a sharp ridge between the slots. Probably a good idea to use some fine sandpaper and sand those ridges out. Other than creating a bit of drag, they could damage a shaft.

Not only does it appear they are scamming off his product, but they appear to be offering distributorships as well.
