The slogan "The A to Z in Billiards and Pool" should be changed.

:angry:The AZ Billiards slogan "The A to Z in Billiards and Pool" should be changed to "The A to U in Billiards and Pool" Why ? AZ never covers the "V"iking Tour events anymore. The Viking Tour is one of, if not the oldest and largest tour in the United States. Many Pro players have come out of the Viking Tour and I am sure there are many more up and coming players I would like to know about that play on the tour.

Note to the Powers that be at AZ... It would be nice to have one complete news source that covers all the events so many people like me do not have to search every other website to get our weekly pool and billiard news.

Maybe in the future AZ can really be the A to Z in Billiards and Pool but for right now I think they are just " The A to go somewhere else to get the rest of the Billiard and Pool news.

Honestly, what disturbs me right now is that there were 414 entries into a weekend Viking Tour event that took place over a Holiday weekend. That was a huge event and it was a tribute to one of pools greatest pool room owners that supported our sport to the fullest and AZ doesn't even have a blip about this event on there front page. How many other great event stories am I and the readers of AZ missing?:angry:

no not mike

I am just a concerned friend about the inequalities that have been show here.

Abe buddy, I think it might be the tournament director or someone on location that needs to send in info so something can be published. I do not think AZ has a staff large enough to send someone all over the world to collect info. Do you?

I hope this makes a little sense for you.

?

It's not on the main page, but the Viking Tour is covered on the Tours and Tournaments page.

see:
http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.php?storynum=7782

I'm sure AZ would like to be able to give in depth coverage of the various Tours and Tournaments, but I don't think they could send reporters to every one of them.

Perhaps if there was a interested participant/local player, who was at the tournament, and was willing (and able) to write a story and provide a few pictures, and provide that to AZ, it could be edited for inclusion on the site?

Just a thought....

OOPS.....Oldzilla beat me to it!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Mike Janis got into an argument with Grady and got banned. Prior to that he used to post here quite a bit.

The last time I watched a stream of a Viking event it seemed to have a big field of players so it looks like he survived being banned.

I think the big thing was Mike Janis spamming the board and some other stuff that he did on here that was not acceptable. He would post his stuff in the Main Forum constantly and his signature at the bottom of each of his post would be a huge spam line, I am talking longer then all the post so far in this thread put together. He ruined what was a good thing for himself and his tour on the best billiard site in the world. I am not sure if Mike Howerton will comment on this as its old news really but I think I got most it right.

What the efff are you angry about? First off, AZ primarily stands for Arizona.
Only Secondarily has it been used as A to Z in Billiards ,etc.

Second off, the Forum is no effing newspaper with a sports page. If you know so much about The Viking Tour and you want it up then start a thread and put the info up. Do you normally sit around with your thumbs you know where and expect everybody to do your bidding? I'd personally love to hear more about the Viking Tour. But remember also, there is no Viking Tour in AZ.( Arizona)

If you get angry-angry over this I can't even imagine what the rest
of the day is like for you. Calm down.:yeah:

Hmmmm I must have missed them. Fill me in please !

There are plenty "in pool" in general and you know it. I grow tired of one advertiser saying, " oh they are in this? I'm out". Competition is good for everyone.

It motivates us to strive for better things which benefits the entire sport. I wish more companies would realize this. Monopolies and exclusive agreements are BAD for pool.

I think Abe has a point, but I don't think he was mad. I had my share of head butting with Mike Janis , as many of you know, but after covering a few of his events and seeing him in action, I actually like Mike and Terry. They really have fun at the events and there is always plenty to do.

I wish Mike H. would consider giving Mike & Terry another chance here and covering their events more. (never thought I would be saying that!)

... and in other news, water's wet - and there's nothing you can do about it.

uhhh I don't think I do know IT. Fyi I AM in a third world area of pool. All I know is what we see here. I just though the approach of the OP was more of the vinegar flavor. Didn't you ? I know what you mean but you assumed i knew that much !

And I also like the Viking events and understand you do too now.

Most of the tournament reports on the home page are submitted by tournament staff. They are not written by AZ Billiards staff. I saw the linked story about the Richard Sweet memorial and it was just one or two sentences, and the credit was "AZ Staff". If you click on the older Viking tournament results, there is full coverage of the Viking events, and the credit is "Tour Staff".

This seems to me that the Viking staff never submitted to AZ billiards a write up of this particular event, and the best that AZ billiards could do is simply state who won it in one or two sentences.

Mike Janis being banned has nothing to do with this. Right after he was banned, Mike Howerton made clear that he would continue to post any tournament results that Janis submitted, and Mike Howerton has honored this to this day.

I think the original poster is over-reacting to probably the Viking staff either forgetting or not having time to write and submit a tournament write up to AZ, so that AZ billiards could post it.

I bet if someone sends a write up to Mike then it will be published as a story. As for Forum coverage well ANYONE can write a report and be a spokesman for the Viking Tour.

JAM, Lou F, Joey A are all good examples of player-journalists who write excellent trip reports on the tournaments they attend.

I am fairly sure that most of the "news" on AZ's main site is submitted to them and not gathered by Mike and Jerry. Big difference.

Abe,

To the best of my knowledge, the Joss Northeast Tour does not send out reports on it's events. Dana Bufalo, a good friend of Mike Zuglan, writes a recap and submits it to AZ. The website Totalpool.info has both information on Joss events as well as some on-line brackets. I agree with the other poster who suggests you have Mr. Janis do the same. You appear to care deeply about the Viking Tour. Perhaps you could do the same for Mike Janis.

Have you contacted the Forum owner about your frustration? He posts here under the user name Azhousepro. If not I do not think that this thread is appropriate.

Further more I think that a thread like this can cause the very people who could make a difference to become jaded toward your cause!!
