These "AHEAD" pool gambling races are utter nonsense!!

i prefer a 10 ahead for big money gambling

one pocket 6 ahead might do,but its part of the matching up

9 ball used to always be 10 ahead when i was young

actually i don't think many of the
posters here have ever played even $1000 sets
or for that matter $100 sets

i get the idea that most az posters are not money players

not that it makes them bad guys, they just don't understand the
nature of the things they talk about

Can't say I down wit da Big Kat; except that 10 ahead one pocket is rediculi as far as I'm concerned . I gave specifics in the other thread, but you won't ever find me more than a 5 ahead set of one hole no matter the bet. In this; I may be in the minority, but I want to either win or lose and be able to make last call. Do it again tomorrow if necessary lol. Really, not even about ahead sets. Let's just do a race and somebody wins, somebody loses and move on. Not like you're playing for your life lol lol - although u may be with a 10 ahead set with these guys!😊

I am interviewing backers, but I don't think I like your management style.

Not only do I get EXTREMELY BORED most of the time playing long sets, I dam near wanna kill myself staking one!!!

I'm old and still can play for hours and hours. I have no problem playing 12 hours straight, without a break (except for potty times).

I don't see what the problem is for ahead games. I think ahead games more likely determine who actually is the better player, if the ahead margin is set more than a few games.

Last time I played a guy who came up wanting to play me some cheap 9-ball, I was 18 games ahead in less than two hours.

For $20K, 10 games ahead isn't unreasonable, unless their normal style of play makes them have games that consistently last for hours and hours for each game.

9 ball is TOTALLY DIFFERENT than one hole, especially ahead. Then take into account the speed of those playing and.......

I know the difference between one-pocket and 9-ball. If one player is the "better" player, in either game, it usually doesn't take days and days to get ahead, unless they just play an all-out stalling type of game.

It all comes down to endurance and motivation with closely matched players. Not knowing what their ACTUAL line is - just say Lou is a 9-7 favorite, without actually
Running the numbers it still seems like more than a week of the top of the head??? That is just crazy! Not only for John and Lous schedules but those wishing to sweat and even at 20k becomes a nothing bet for time involved. Do a race. You win or you lose. If they skeered, just say u r skeered.

What else would they be doing?

Sitting at home watching reruns of "I Love Lucy" and "Judge Judy"?

Why are you worried about John's schedule, if he isn't?

Do you make $20K in a week?

First of all, I am worried about nothing. Nothing whatsoever. Anyone and everyone can do whatever tickles their fancy. I am commenting just the same as any other person that is not John or Lou. If you were to go back you would see I said that very early on - only what John or Lou wants is what's important. I still stand by that. With that said, I still have an opinion same as all the rest. Yeah, I just wish I could make 20k in a week 😊

You can sink the 1 on the break, then leave the 2-0 combo to win, in a matter of 10 seconds. And faster if you play win with 9 on the break.

Compare that to when the balls start getting moved up-table in 1-pocket, and it can seem an eternity just to finish one game. It then becomes a game of attrition, not skill, to go 10-up. Or who does the most blow.

Probably it would be more reasonable to do something as in tennis - race to whatever, but must win by 2. That would add excitement, pressure to the leader, and a chance for the guy behind.

Oh and one more thing Mr. EYE, whi.email not knowing nor caring what John or Lois schedules are I can add this from experience. With John owning his own small business, a few days much less a week is a LOOOONG time to be off of the helms. No matter how good his subs arw, it's still hard to be away from your biz for any amount of time. If that's not the case, good for him. As to Lou, he has a wifey. We all know that routine. How many of yalls wifeys would be thrilled to hear " see you in a week or two, going to play pool" lololol. But more so, as I mentioned the sweaters: there is heavy interest in this match with many that would love to watch - myself included. This is for MAYBE A 2 OR 3 day match. After that it drops off significantly, maybe down to 10 very old retired watchers. Just saying. I know JB is your boy and that's cool, really . As I said, I supported JB the first time around and was up there and was gonna bet on him but that doesn't mean that I don't think 10 ahead is stupid, an out to say.

In no other self respecting sport is something settled "ahead". Everything is capped!! NBA Finals Best 4/7 Superbowl 1 game, MLB best of World Series, Tennis Best of 3 or 5 sets etc..An AHEAD race imho DOES NOT tell who is better. Maybe who can concentrate longer or has more endurance but that's it!! I mean when it's show time its show time!! Bring your A game straight out the truck and race to 10 games for the same 1k, $5000 or whatever. Why play for 10 hrs straight?? .But I guess quick sports betting $1,000 on the 1st half or betting $300 on the coin toss on the Superbowl has me spoiled!! LOL

The good thing about gambling is you make your own matches. If you don't like ahead sets, don't play them. If you don't like watching ahead sets, don't watch them

If you play for 10hrs to win 5k, seems like a good hourly rate to me.

98% of these players don't have any money. Once the backer/stake-horse takes 60% then do the real math LOL

Sooo Bored playing for too many hrs!! It's like they're not playing to win somebody is scared to lose!! LMAO😂😂 Then when you factor in the fact that most of the dudes are getting staked then once the stake horse gets his and whoever else's hand is in the pot, it's probably not cost effective to play for a few days if you're a real get money dude!! 💯

Ahead sets came about in my day 60'-70's when you played a player with 'fast feet'.
Or a player that was known for 'taking a 2-3 game shot' at you.It was a way of knowing
what you were shooting at. A lot of gamblin was done 'by the game' with a 1 game 'post'
But when you find a player who is 'takin a shot', then post up and play a 'freeze-out'.
Races are a terrible way to bet your $$$! You can be ahead in games and loser in $$$.
Pretty dumb.
FYI
Bmore, I don't know if you know who 'EYE' is, but he was a top player in his day
and good gambler. He played all over the US and played very very well.
ps
'EYE'. Dont know if Hawaiian Jay is still there with you. We played some golf as well
as matched up in pool.

John offered to play in STL, so it isn't like Lou has to be away from his wifey.

And, for the record, neither one of them are my boys...I didn't nor intend to watch their first match or any upcoming matches.
