They never saw the $$$$....

Well hopefully he makes it right, sometimes thinks happen but the players shouldnt be victimized. That is Prince on the right with Scott,he is a nice guy with a ton of heart and has nothing to do with this situation at hand.

Never saw the $$$, last week I posted a thread that said "Show me the $$$" After 2700 views and 4 pages of guesses, only JAM had it right-unless I missed a post. None of the top finishers in Phoneix last week got paid, Saez cashed his check, Archer told me "Hell I would have done better if I took 9th, instread of winning it".

I made the thread to put Chuck Bobbett on notice that he might draw some attention and not himself any favors by stiffing everyone, well he did.

I sat back this past week and listened to everyone and man this guy has more excuses that anyone ever, he was telling some people that he wired the $$$, then was producing phony bank statments, saying he couldnt FAX things etc. He just cornered himself after a week of lies,

its a shame that the players were robbed,

to be clear Mark known here as bfdlad, had nothing to this. He is 100% STAND UP GUY, SO DONT CONFUS HIM WITH THE OTHER GUY WHO WAS HAVING EVENTS IN THE SAME CITY AT THE SAME TIME.

How does Fatboy fit in? I don't. I had nothig to do with this except making the arrangments for one player to come out play in it and not get paid, he is my friend and 2 other guys on the list as well are friends. I dont like to see people or my friends get robbed. This Chuck guy took the gate $$$, entrance $$$, etc and rat holed as much as he could after paying the lower places. So I sat back for a week watched. listened and sadly realized that Chuck should probably pay his debts, which include my friends, i'm a loyal friend. Otherwise it just makes me sick to see a guy air-barrel a tournment with a $400 entry fee, these guys spend almost a dime to get there for this???? no way can this be let to rest. so I made it public, i'm done with it from here.

The Police dept Check Fraud Unit will be all over this one, they like big press releases and when someone willingfully writes about $30,000 in hot checks in one day to 6 or 7 people they wont waste time. So Chuck stop the bullshit and and the bleeding and find the $$$. Chuck I wont put a google map to your house or the business you own as I feel that wouldnt be right.....yet.

Eric,
Thank you for looking out for and sticking up for the pro players! I never knew anything about any of this mess. It was kept quiet pretty good for a surprising amount of time, despite that age old adage..."Telephone....telegraph....tella-poolplayer" Word gets out, and now that it's posted here, hopefully, these guys will get their money.

Sad thing is, even if they get it, they still got another bruise to their heart.
All their work, effort and talent, for this....?

Again, major kudos to you for looking out for these guys. Thank you!

Yeah I never understood why so many people said that Fatboy's show me the money thread was so useless. I had a strong feeling like it was going to be something pretty serious and that he was being fair to give a warning.

He has given fair warning about the google map so let it be known that I'm not above TPing a house.

TAP...TAP...TAP... THERE ARE SEVERAL POSTERS HERE ON THIS FORUM WHO OWE THE MAN A PERSONAL APOLOGY.... Having said that, I just don't understand why professional players would show up to an event and ever screw their cues together without seeing a copy of an Escrow agreement or Irrevocable letter of credit.

Especially after the IPT fiasco which only proved that no one will sue even if they get stiffed.

You guys need business managers!

Jim

Edit: Removed names...(too late) Bad choice.

Ouch. I imagine he'll have to change his phone numbers soon, or feel the wrath of AZB!

Man, I thought this type of stuff was over with. Sad that it still persists, especially at such a high level (UPA event).

All I can say is click.......BANG, Gotcha MF. Shit like this would NEVER stand years ago.

Great post Fatboy. Thank you for watching out for the players
I was waiting for some of the dozen that made fun or worse of your post to step up now and say they were wrong...what was I thinking. Johnnyt

"I'm gonna rob the tournament, sell all these tables and retire in Tahiti!"

Don't let this happen people.

I might be in the minority, but I respect the way "Fatboy" posted that thread.

On another note, to quote (hopefully correctly) from a movie most posters here do not care for:

"Back when I was playing, there were no professionals, only hustlers."

A picture of "his" hat will be posted in about 10 minutes...

What WERE you thinking Johnny? 95% of Americans can't admit when they are clearly wrong and the 5% that can are not pool players.

the hat as promised

I hope you enjoy this...

The only thing I ever criticized Fatboy for was the manner he readily acknowledges that he made his $$$ (that's Fatboy for money) by telemarketing and relishing in the fact that he was reeling in another unsuspecting sucker.

We have sinced corresponded and I don't think there are any ill feelings between us. If there is something else you are talking about Jim, please let me know.

BTW, I have seen you start flame wars in several threads yourself Jim. So, do me a favor and mind your own business.

Edit: On second thought, I guess you were talking about my response in the previous Fatboy thread. My post was made jokingly in reference to Fatboy being a little melodramatic. I really don't feel I need to apologize for it, as it was not made to be anything else than a little fun poking. I really don't think Fatboy took offense. And I really don't know why you think you need to stick your nose into something that doesn't concern you.

SNIP!
Not really, IMO. Had we posted the same responses to this thread, maybe. Or if Chuck Bobbit would have came forward based on the other thread, maybe.

However, the thread in question did not serve the intended purpose to get the players paid, so it actually did end up being worthless, or as I said inane.

The thing about the original thread is that nobody understood anything about what Fatboy was talking about. He was assuming that this Chuck Bobbit should know he was talking to him. Maybe he did or maybe he didn't, but I don't see the need to apologize for what I said.

I actually like Fatboy and have nothing against him personally. I just thought that the thread was unclear and that it would have been difficult for even the guilty person to know what he was talking about. This thread does not prove that I was wrong, it just illuminates what the real issue is.

Sorry for the stupid post but I didn't read the whole thread.

What tournament/Tour was this?

Not that I ever get out of town or play much now anyway but just want to make sure I do not go to one of these events. heh

And I think John has the right idea.. Off to play a lil golf..

Pool is a joke to make your money at most of the time..

I should of stuck with golf years ago when I started playing..

There's no money in pool and that's why I hardly ever play now.. I make more playing cards.. and selling cues..

I got interested in pool again when the IPT came out as pool players finally had a chance at making some real money.. Played a qualifier near the end of it all and got my ticket into the IPT yet it went under..

Was backed in the tournament or I never would of shelled out the $2k for an event that seemed to be going under.. The person who put up the money got the $2k back..

and I have been offered free entry into all "if any" future IPT events stated in the letter I received from the IPT.. hah

Well, my hat is off for you also, if you won an IPT qualifier. I did not even try, since may folks told me that not only were players emerging from the woodwork, but they would travel to different places, and try again.

I'm saddened a bit to hear that the IPT revived your interests in pool, and then ended up doing more damage, and that you have migrated to the "no money in pool" camp. :(

You sound like someone who the game needs.
