They say Dechaine Dumped, come defend yourself.

Wow. How about instead of Mike coming on here and defending his "dump", you name the people who said he dumped. Then have them come here to provide proof that he dumped. Or at the very least, a reason why they claim he dumped, other than losing in the final.

FTR, I would click off of full screen on occaison to check the chat to see if I could get some info on how long the race was going to be and toward the end I saw more than a couple of chatters posting DUMP up on the screen. I did not take notice who it was as I don't give a fat rat's ass about anything other than the actual pool match and the execution of the shots/safeties. But.....it WAS being accused of being a "dumped" match by several (or more for all I know) posters.

Maniac (just thinks it was a combination of Earl playing well and Mike not so much)

These guys have way too much ego and are way to prideful to dump, their reputation is on the line. Besides, if he were dumping it likely would have obvious to everyone in that room. Like him or not, Earl is still one of the best players in the world, and on any given day...

I think it's pretty brutal to accuse someone of dumping especially in a chat room. I'm sure the chat room is privy of such info  There is a famous saying that dogging it and dumping look alike. Some things are best left unsaid. I'm sorry I missed Earl snapping it off. Congrats to him and to Mike too!

90% of the chat room on free ustream events are trolls. They just say dumb shit to get a rise out of people. Mike and Earl both had a great tourny, no shame in second for either player.

That pretty much sums it up. Anybody who takes the chat seriously is a doofus.

Wow. The guy finishes 1st and 2nd in back to back tournaments and people want to chime about a possibly dump. I just want to say what a great week he had. Good shooting and keep it up.

They said it right on the stream also. The driver's seat is the last match on the winner's side. Earl and Mike were the last undefeated people. They play for the Driver's Seat.

Thats the Hot Seat match.

I have been around pool twenty four years and never heard it called "Driver seat". Someone was trying to be cute with a new term. It's gay.

Probably Dante in there trolling again.

This thread is ridiculous. First, you hear some crap people are saying in a free ustream chat room full of people who have nothing to do with the players or tournament in question. Then, you come on a worldwide website frequented by a large percentage of the pool community, publicly accusing a well-known player of an accusation you heard on said chat room that has absolutely no standing.

Great idea, well thought out.

Drivers Seat

I don't know whats so GAY about playing for the drivers seat or driving a tournament? In ND, SD, MN and Iowa all the poolrooms I've played in we call it driving the tournament. In fact Mr. Pollman used to call it driving the bus in SD at Breaktime Billiards!

Just a little pool slang to get everyone excited!??

Earl played good but had a few mistakes, Mike didn't take advantage and had more mistakes. When you have more mistakes you usually lose! Earl just outplayed Mike in one set, give him credit the man can beat anyone anywhere anytime.

Why is it that nobody can defeat anyone? There is always an excuse. Earl just crushed Dechaine, and the first thing people start typing is DUMP. Come on people. He has a pretty damn big ego, do you really think he would dump to Earl. He wants to be considered the best in the world. Did you see the way he was acting in his chair when Earl made shots? How he ran out of the building? No Dumping just an old fashioned ass kicking.

This thought just came to mind. Who would have thought the talk would be about anyone but Earl? Earl was well behaved on the stream even when he got his butt kicked in the Driver's seat match.

Based on my knowledge of Earl Strickland, having seen him at various events, speaking with him about a variety of pool topics, this man would never dump. In fact, I don't even believe Earl today is capable of a saver.

For financial reasons, he's usually backed or staked in the pool tournaments today, and he has to do the chop-chop with his backer. End of story.

Give the man his creds if he won. At 50-plus years old, he's still hitting 'em strong. Good for Earl!

That surprises me. Maybe it's kinda regional to the midwest. But I feel like I've heard it more broadly

Google it. You'll see it used over and over again for baseball tournaments all around the country, for basketball, even for dancing with the stars ...

Here it's used for pool

I do not think Mike dumped in this match at all. He looked drained at the end to me and he may have just been mentally exhausted. He seemed to lack the strong mental focus that is needed to play at that level. As far as the stream folks comments, I think many of those people are just interested in stirring up the pot and not truly watching the match. Half their time is spent thinking up stupid comments and the other half is spent typing.

It is what I meant in a way. Tell the people who said you dumped, that you didn't. Be a graceful loser, and say you got beat. I will do a lot for Mike and how people feel about him. Besides we don't need that crap in a tournament.
Too late for the graceful loser part... He was a schmuck

Nasty's best term was calling cross side banks a cross face. Sometimes he even called cross corner banks a cross face. Every time he said it I had a mental image of one player slamming his arm across his opponents face in the wrestling move of the same name. Technically I guess he was right because the cue ball does cross the face of the object ball but I got a laugh out of it every time.

Drivers seat is still gay though.

Sorry but we use it

Sorry, JCIN, that is what it is called in Fargo, or course we are a little backward.

Guess you should read. I did not accuse him of dumping. I think he got his ass kicked. Give credit where credit is due. Earl decided the credit by the people.

By the way, got you to read it didn't it?

Gotta look pretty hard to find someone who'd wanna fight the tiger for a week straight.

Mess with the bull...

I'm sure Earl is not concerned about what anybody on this forum thinks, and he's probably feeling pretty spiffy this fine Monday morning after the almighty win! :D
