Hello ,

Looking for opinions on which of these two materials you like better and why. Any input would be appreciated.

I'm totally sold on the Juma material for ferrules. I experimented with both capped & through hole types & have had no failures...JER

Hi,

We have been using Titan on our cues and I just started to use Juma. I like it. It was recommended to me by Darrin Hill who did beta testing for Atlas. He loves it and that's how I found out about it.

I would be interested in how the beta testing was performed and would like to see the results.

I bored a small piece of the Titan, and squeezed it. It pretty much explodes.
Haven't tried the Juma though.

The Titan has too low of a melting point as it is really soft. The Juma is a much better material in my opinion.

A friend sent Me some samples of Juma, and so far I like It. Yes It seems better the Titan to me also. I've used Titan on house cues because It's low cost, but It does have It's share of failures. I've even resorted to capping, and Under the extreme breaking that house cues see I still occasionally have them fail. Player cues, It holds up alright if not used to break with, and is somewhat liteweight, but It does not hold up to breaking or very much abuse.

I have just started using Juma recently and have to say it was pleasant surprise. It machines and polishes nicely with no pores. Feels nice when hitting balls too.

Highly recommended.

I had nothing but trouble with Titan ferrules when they came out a few years ago. I first bought the rod and made my own ferrules. I would occasionally break them while tapping them (with new sharp taps).

I wanted to keep trying them because I liked how cleanly they polished when installed. So I ordered pre-made ferrules next time. These ferrules were a super tight fit onto my tenon. I would even run a tap through them and they were still tight. Its like the taps would push the material instead of cut. (I did not have any of this trouble with the other Atlas pre-made ferrules).

Once installed, I had a few come back for breaking apart. I even had one customer who's ferrule broke just leaning against the wall in his basement, where he always kept the cue.

Definitely not worth the trouble, in my experience. This was about 3 yrs ago I believe. They might be better now, but I'm not taking that chance with my work or my time.

This was during repair work, I don't make cues.

Also I want to say that when Predator switched to the Z2 and P2 shafts, they called the ferrule Titan in their advertising. This is about the same time Atlas offered the Titan material, and that is why I first ordered the material. There is no way what Atlas was calling Titan was what Predator was putting on their shafts. The materials looked nothing alike side by side.

Again, this is what I saw with my own eyes 3 or so years ago. I don't know if the material has changed in that time.

I have been using titan for years. No problems here. Not 1 return. It says right in the description not to break with it. I have no problems. It does melt easy but that's the I ly problem. It's light, white, and chalk resistant. Juma was just ok to me

No problems with Titan

I'm with Dave. I've been using Titan for years and have had no failures. I break with it all the time.

One other thing I like about it is it's light weight.

The downside to the Titan is that I see some ferrules that have developed flat spots on the sides where the ferrule actually melts from the friction against the cloth. Its common knowledge that its not the most durable material. I prefer the Juma...love the performance & a pleasure to work with....and like Jerry said, I've yet to have one single problem capped or not.

i have had Titan on several cues in the past and wasn't crazy about the sound on extreme english shots, but other than that it seemed to be fairly durable, not quite as durable as LBM though and not even close to the micarta i use now.

i also tried Juma last year and was unimpressed.if i had to choose between the two i would probably go with Titan.it's lighter in weight and other than extreme english clicking sound i feel like it performs better than juma actual playability.the Juma does machine better and appear to be stronger.

if i didn't have the micarta,i would choose some good LBM before either of these though no question.
