To all my friends I need your help.

If there were cameras in hospital rooms watching how sterile wound care is done by doctors the general public would be shocked. I have gone on rounds with doctors that after doing open wound care in one room tried to go to the next and do wound care on the patient with the same gloves...many times, and I worked in a top rated hospital. Zig i am praying for you have faith and stay positive all things are possible with GOD.

He likes to help those that help themselves so my advice to make sure you take in as much good bacteria as you can. That superstrong antibiotic will kill good and bad bacteria indescriminately so eat yogurt take probiotics or whatever but you have to build your bacteria back up or you can be hit by C-diff. Which can kill you so have faith and take care.

MRSA is a serious infection, but it happens all the time. After you get your PICC line, make sure that anytime someone accesses it, that they scrub the access site before hooking up your IV. Also, the dressing should be changed regularly and, most importantly, using sterile technique.

You should look up some info on central line care. You have the right to be infection free, and sadly you have to be vigilant for your own safety. Not all healthcare personnel are as aseptic as they should be.

Chris,

Kat and I have been praying for you, as you know. Keep fighting through this and get well! We will be hitting balls together sooner than you think. I'll send you an email tomorrow, buddy.

Your Friends,

Bob & Kat

So let me ask this then-seeing as the Drs acknowledge how you got it- Is all this care on them? In other words-no bills?

Yes don'y I wish. I have looked into really finding out how I really contracted this. I was in the hospital last year from Aug 1st to Sept 5th They think I picked it up then. So do I go after the hospital I was in for all that time. I think it would be impossible to prove and cost me out the ass to fight that. So it will cost me what ever my Ins will not cover. Oh well they cannot get blood from a turnip. :D

Chris:smile:

Best wishes headed your way Ziggy. My daughter had MRSA, but came through pretty easily, so it wasn't as bad as your case.

I had a PICC line for about 12 weeks. The bandage/tape used in the hospital was poor. It had to be changed two times the last day in the hospital. First change by a home health nurse was with a tape that would have lasted weeks without the edges pulling up. Don't settle for poor tape, it will make it uncomfortable and increase the risk of infection.

MRSA is a very nasty infection for sure. Very important that you don't miss doses or stop antibiotic infusions before 8 weeks and before your tests comeback negative. If treatment is stopped too early the MRSA can comeback worse (rebound effect). After you get the pic-line in it would be better if you got infusions at home.

Good luck to you. I'm sure you will be fine in time. Johnnyt

I guess it's safe to say that no alcohol should be used while being treated with the antibiotics???

This message goes out to all of my friends on the AZ billiards forum. My cultures from my wounds came back. I found I'm battling a MRSA infection. This is the scariest thing I have ever faced. I go to the infusion center today to have a pic line put in. I'm starting IV antibiotics today I have to do this for a min of 8 weeks. If my friends could pray for me and keep me in their thoughts anything will help. I will keep you all updated with my progress. Thanks again.

Best wishes
Chris Geary aka Ziggylee:wink:

Sending you prayers from across the country...good luck buddy on a speedy recovery. You're gonna be ok. ...and this is why I hate hospitals!!!
