Tom Ferry (Old Has Been) never denied being a pool hustler. In fact, he told everyone. It wasn’t his fault if they refused to believe him. Tom left this earth at 5:30 this morning, leaving his wife, Rita, his son Tommy (21) and daughter Katie (19).

Tom was the MO state nine ball champion twice yet one pocket was his game of choice. Tom related some wonderful road stories on this site and others. Tom was my friend. I will miss him.

First off let me say RIP Tom, and hopefully his family can deal with this situation without anyone taking advantage of the in this time of trouble for them.

I always enjoyed Tom’s Posting, his FREE Sharing of his experiences, insights, and truthful no non sense answers to many question post on this Forum.

Does anyone know if Tom’s Death was expected, or unexpected, what happened to him?

Again RIP Tom, and I hope there is a Big Pool room where your going...You will be missed by many on this Forum

Obviously, this just sucks. I feel privileged to have met Tom and hear some of his stories.

If you haven't yet, this should also be posted at OnePocket.Org.

This is very sad news....

OHB was definitely a beloved member of the AZB community, and he will be missed.

Requiescat in Pace, Tom.

Tom Ferry, R.I.P. OldHasBeen was one of the good guys from this board and I'm sorry I never had the chance to meet him. He sent me a poster of that newspaper article of him and St. Louis Louie that I'll keep forever. I followed his posts when I saw him online because his posts you did not want to miss. He'll be missed by many friends and family, I'm sure, as well as many on here that never met him. He's with his friend now, Louie, and I like Tom's side if they gamble. Peace, John.

Bill-
My sympathies to Tom's family and to you. I had never met him and knew little of him other than what he had posted here in the past. But he was insightful, informative, entertaining, and a great asset to this forum. He will be missed by all.

May he rest in peace and may that same peace be with his family and friends in their present hour of need.

Sad news indeed. Never met OHB but also enjoyed reading his posts on AZ

My sympathies to his friends and family.

Wow - I am just floored. What happened??? I thought Tom would live forever. He was definitely one of the best contributers this board or any other has seen. Well, Tom, your posts will speak of you well. Rest in Peace my friend. Maybe you can hustle St. Peter into giving us another Tom Ferry and another Louie Roberts.

John

P.S. Hey AZB - Somebody Put together a collection of Tom's stories for all of us and all the newbies to enjoy. Tom was certainly a bridge to what pool was and what it can be.

I had some nice correspondence with Tom about a Balabushka cue he owns.

It's sobering to me when I casually know someone like Tom who unexpectedly (to me at least) passes away, when my perception is that they are relatively young, active, and seemingly healthy.

Sometimes we are snatched away from this life at the "wrong" time. I think this makes me recognize that the same thing could happen to any of us at any time. It makes me want to make sure my business and family are well cared for because death will not wait for me.

It is moments like this that make me realize how precious life is, and how precious heath is, and wants to make me do everything I can for myself to stay healthy.

Tom had a lot of fun and lived life the way he wanted. He clearly had many adventures and many friends. Of course, he will be missed on the boards.

Greatly Missed

I never met Tom in person, but I will miss his posts and PM's greatly. :(

He knew

It is as Williebetmore has said. Tom knew he didn't have very long to live. This is the bottom portion of an email I received from Tom.

Now here is where I'm going to need a favor in the too near future.

This Multiple Myeloma (I was originally diagnosed in July of '05) is getting the best of me and I have gone way down in just the last 2 weeks. It ain't looking too good.

I have told my wife, Rita - that when I pass to just send an email to you. She has no idea about AZ or OP.org and I feel you would be the best to handle it - if that is OK with you.

Thanks, Tom
