Tom Ross medical condition

Hope there is a speedy recovery. Laughter and a good attitude is helpful so try to keep him in good spirts whenever possible.

I have found that people in profound comas are often much more aware than others often think. Keep your head up and keep on trucking.

My prayers and best wishes are sent for Tom's speedy recovery.
I have personally witnessed amazing things in response to prayer.

Any update on his condition?
I spoke to his girlfriend last night, and there didn't seem to be any improvement since Friday.

I'll post an update when his condition changes.

Thanks again to everybody for the concern and support. I sent Tom's girlfriend a link to this thread. She really appreciates that so many people are keeping Tom in their thoughts and prayers.

Regards,
Dave

Just got a text from Tom's GF, passing on verbatim:

Tom is doing well. He is coming out of his sedative state and responding appropriately. We are very happy with his progress. Thanks for checking in.

Yay!!!!

That is great news. Tom will be in my thoughts and I wish him a full and speedy recovery. Something tell me that he will be up to his old self, teaching and playing in no time.
I had the opportunity to meet Tom in Vegas a couple of years ago.
It was a pleasure as Tom is very approachable, friendly and an all around good guy in the biz.

Very, very good news! Tom continues to be in my prayers for a complete recovery, thanks for the update.

That's terrific news. Thank you for sharing it. I look forward to seeing the improvements first hand.

Thanks again,

Hope the good news continues, my son and I have spent many an hour watching VEPS and reading his articles our thoughts and prayers go out to Tom and his family.

This was the latest updates I received from a very dear friend of Tom's:

On the 24th, Tom was removed from the ICU and is now in a room that's a step between ICU and a regular room. Up until yesterday there was a restricted visitor list, but as of yesterday the visitor list has been removed. Those that are are able and want to go see Tommy, you can do that now.

It looks as if things are looking up.

Dave

Great news, for sure! :)

I will continue with prayers and sending positive thoughts his way.

Best,
Brian kc

Another update:

Dave Gross and I just drove down to Denver to visit Tom.

He looked a lot better than the last time I saw him. He had much less swelling in his face and arm, and he's totally off the heavy sedation and breathing tube. He also showed more physical motion than I saw before; although, there still didn't seem to be much (if any) motion on his right side.

The most positive thing I saw was how clear and "Tom-like" his eyes seemed. As soon as we walked in, he looked right up, and we could see the "Tom we've always known" in those eyes ... very clear and expressive.

Unfortunately, Tom wasn't able to communicate very well; although, he did seem very responsive to our comments and questions. When I mentioned how cute his previous nurse was, it was obvious that he new exactly what I was talking about. He also obviously appreciated it when Dave G. presented him with a piece of pre-flag Master's chalk with encouragement and hope that he can use it soon. Tom also seemed pleased and appreciative when we told him about all of the love and support being shown on AZB.

Tom tried to verbalize a lot, but we couldn't understand anything he was trying to say. It seemed mostly like random mumbling. Regardless, it was good seeing him try to communicate; and hopefully, with more healing and lots of speech therapy, this can improve over time.

Please continue to keep Tom in your thoughts and prayers.

Regards,
Dave

Thanks for the update Dr. Dave. Very good to hear that he's making clear progress, and to that extent. He's been in my thoughts everyday. He almost seems like an old friend, given the hours I've spent learning from him on video.

Please continue to keep us posted.

The cool thing about our visit is that Tom recognized us and seemed to understand what we said even though he could not verbalize what he was trying to say. I concur what Dr. Dave said about when we told him about AZB and all the love and well wishes pouring out from everyone - he understood and smiled. It's working, please keep it up.

Dave
