Top 10 players where you live.

Thank you irock,

Your the man. Any smoke is too much smoke especially if you have a respiratory problem.

20 years from now people are going to say. Do you believe back then that they uesd to let people poison everyone elses air they breath.

I drive to Minneapolis everyday to play and give lessons with perfect Aim. I'm like a prisoner in Wisconsin. Eau Claire is non smoking now but all the little townships that are connected can smoke. I play pool league with my son's team to qualify for the different tournaments. Only one of the bars in the league is non smoking. I got enough weeks in but that even sucked.

One guy told me the other day if you don't like it don't go. I'm not anymore but what a shame for so many people.

A lawyer friend of mine in Kansas City got lung cancer. He doesn't even smoke. But he goes to the room that I went to that made me really sick. When I saw him he was just going into the same pool room. He said he was doing chemo. He said now he just goes in during the day when there is less smoke.

He love to play pool. Isn't that a shame................

Some players out there that are having a real bad time with the smoke need to listen to what there body is telling them. It's kind of a cumulative thing with those chemicals that get absorbed into your body through your lungs and skin.

Thanks again irock and have a great day. I wish I would have come down there. I was there about 12 years ago. Great Tournament. Next year............

Geno,

As you know, Arizona is now smoke free...and thats OK with me...but I am 75, and have smoked (and drank) all my life, and I enjoy very good health, for my age, as do most of my smoker friends.

I firmly believe cancer is a genetic inheritence, or the result of where you were born and raised.(ie. water flouridation etc,) Most people who succumb to cancer, were actually born with it.

Second hand smoke, is a joke...anyone over the age of 50, has inhaled it most of their lives...they are still alive aren't they ?

I agree, smoking is a stupid, smelly habit...but you inhale more harmful carscogenians,(sp)... just walking down any big city street, for 30 minutes,...than you do from smoking a carton of cigarettes. Avid non-smoker's should just commit themselves to a clean air "bubble"

Anti smoking laws, have led to the demise of untold thousands of bars and poolrooms nationwide. Why ?... because many people enjoy a cigarette, or a cigar with their favorite beverage. You can cite all the reasons you want for not smoking...but you know the above is true.

If you ever get to Kolby's or Metro Sports Bar again look me up. I know you won a local 9 ball tournament here last year,(noticably absent, our best players)... but I will play you some one pocket, and spot you the difference in our ages. (and I will play for some high $$$)

Plus I will be spotting you "no smoking" which I prefer to do...but I can't because of all the do-gooder laws....It's called "sin tax" and it does piss me off. Why not a "Twinky tax, for fat people ? Or a tax on ladies of loose morals, who crank out a kid every year, to go on the welfare dole ? Those $$$ combined, dwarf the cost of lung cancer.

Good luck with your DVDs and lessons...just know you have a game with an old has-been, next time you're in Phoenix.

PS..Did not mean this post to sound bitter, but clean air freaks bring out the worst in me.

This is MY top 10 for New York City.

1. Mika Immonen
2. Tony Robles
3. George SanSouci
4. Danny Barouty
5. Steve Lipsky
6. Frankie Hernandez
7. Zion Zvi
8. Jim Gottier
9. Jonathan Smith
10. I'll leave this one blank since I can think of about 10 players that could arguably fill this spot.

Hey Jude,

Put "Tony T" in that spot. And where is Chris Lynch?

I'll go one further and say that I'm definitely the best player within a 100' radius of my house.

Hey, when you got it, flaunt it, right?

You're doing better than me. My 6 year old son has caught the "pool bug" and it appears that he currently holds the title of "best player in the house". :D

hello gene

I guess I'll have to wait for action until after July 3rd when all of wis will be smoke free.

You don't have to breath with my lungs. There's 50 cancer causing chemicals in second hand smoke. Look it up. Most of my friends that I hung out with are dead. Yes Cancer.

That's not a very good choice. You don't think it is very bad but it's like eating a little bit of poison. I prefer none.

Go sit in there on the weekend and take your cloths and smell them in the morning. Mine smelled like I needed to burn them. On the way home I had to take off my coat because it was burning my nose.

No smoke..... We got action. I'll even drive to another state.............that doesn't have smoke.

Good Luck Geno................

gene, are you going to the WIbca in oconomowoc at the end of feb.? if so maybe we could arrange something for that weekend! if not Illinois is no smoking, the next time you plan on coming to chicago call me ahead of time and we can set something up. p.s. good finish at seco's, that beau plays really good.

These are my picks for NC! The order is tough.

1. Earl Strickland
2. Keith Bennett
3. Sammy Monday
4. Mike Fuller
5. Adam Pendley
6. BJ Ussery
7. Jeff Abernathy
8. Brady
The other 2 would be a toss-up between Derrick Leonard, Scott Lewis, Adam Stanton, Tony Morrison, Brian Capps, Eddie Little...ect..Too many to name.

Earl moved, he's not in NC anymore. I think you would have to move BJ up a few spots though. If he's been hitting them even a little bit he beats the majority of that list(- Earl, Bennett, Fuller)

Many of my friends are dead.................

Your a lucky man,

You have good genetics. I guess I don't.

I have sleep apnea. I breath through my nose with the machine. My nose gets real plugged from the smoke. If i can't sleep if I can't breath.

I'm diabetic. Sleep is just as important as diet and excercise if your diabetic.

My best friend is Indian and told me to never judge a man until you walk a mile in his mocasins.

And yes i will play you some one pocket when I get back to Phoenix. It should be fun.

Sorry you think the medical people in this country are just blowing smoke. I just buried 2 more friends this last year. Patty Mc Vinnie was only 55 and Denny Miller was about 45.

When I die I don't want to suffer the way they did and I think the no smoking laws are the best for everyone.

Have a great day geno............

When you see him tell him Anthony from Wi said Hi. John use to come to a little room called Cricket's and Cues where I played when I lived there for our weekly 9 ball tournament. He played so well we would always get a good handicap playing him. It use to piss him off, some times we would beat him, but most of the time he still got the cash. It never was a lot, but it was just a place to hang out and play. We always enjoyed having John around, he really new the game, and hell of a banker. Hopefully in the near future I can make it up, to visit a good friend of mine, and I can stop in at Red Shoes and say hi.

Geno, it is always a fun weekend, there are three brackets, and players range from can't run three balls to run out every time they get a shot. Fri night you qualify, your team plays three matches, win both you are in A, win one in B, win none in C. One of our good Tomah league players had a strong team put together and took the A division. The tables are close, and it is hard to get into a rhythm, but still a fun weekend. I will try to remember to shoot you a PM next year to remind you.

Having lived in both States and played tons of pool in smokey bars, I can say People in Wisconsin Smoke TONS more than people in AZ did. And most drink 3X more as well.

I never smoked a day in my life and I'm really glad. I know smokey rooms really affected me. Within the first 6 months of the Smoking Ban in Arizona I went from shooting 7 speed to 9 speed. Not having to blink an extra 2 times on every shot helped me to focus. I use to have to use eye drops to make it through 5 games of league play. Thank God it's over and I'm glad Wisco made the wise choice to ban it.

I got to play John last summer and really appreciated his game. We got down to the 3rd place match in a game at MilwaukeePeach's room, I forget the name. I broke and ran the first game but made a mistake in breaking dry the next game in the race to 8. John ran out that rack and the next 6 racks before I got to the table again down Hill-1. He plays pretty sporty. I'd love to sweat a barbox 8-ball match between John and Gene. Has to be on a Diamond Pro-cut table though!

stuckart, I don't know how John played on a bar table, everything was on 9 footers then, but I am sure the way he moves whitey around on a 9 footer, he would handle a 7 footer just fine. The things I miss about Chicago were any time of the night if you felt like eating a certain thing you could find some place open that had it. And you could always find a pool tournament any time you wanted it. But the traffic and pay tolls, I do not miss.

Talking about different Johns...

I believe Stuckart and Irock are talking about two different Johns.

Irock is referring to John Z. (co-owner of Red Shoes in Alsip, IL)

Stuckart (I believe) is talking about lil John from the Appleton, WI area.

Both are great players!
