I hear ya Eydie. I don't post nearly as much since John has left us. There was just something fun about him that can't be replaced.

Hope all is well and the Windy City was a huge success.

Hey vag,

Been good and been around, just not as much as I used to.
Hope all is well with you.

Blackjack, thanks for starting this thread. I just wanted to add Jerry "Bulldog" Howard, from Detroit. He was quite the entertaining character and a true legend, who lived to be 89 years old. He was known as one of the best hustlers ever, and a great person to know. He will be missed by all who knew him.

I loved the Dog. He wrote me messages when I was sick and in a trying time in my life. He was a real one of a kiner. I loved the Rude one. Man the good die young.
I hope his wife is doing well.

Very thoughtful post, Dave. Though it wasn't in 07 I still so miss my good friend Tom "Old Has Been" Ferry.

I agree, Bill. This forum just hasn't been the same without OHB. He was a hell of a player and one hell of a man. I still smile at his magnets that I have on my fridge.

NO DOUBT. Tom was extremely knowledable and a funny guy to boot. I still laugh when I think about the Rhino Foreskin tips :D

Steve Knight Colorado Springs

No, it was definitely not the American Steve Knight. I knew him very well. There was a player in Co. Springs for a year or two who we called English Steve and he played on par with Bill Meacham. Then he left again.

There was an English guy that I occasionally played in Miscues when Tom and Karen Tallent owned the place. He always came in with a one piece house cue with a skinny shaft and the slightest piece of leather for a tip. Played real good. Was told he was sent back to england because his visa expired.

I believe that was the guy. He played with a snooker cue if I remember right. Very good player. Thanks!

FWIW, I gave em the exit 8 and busted em at Sticks, and never saw em in the springs after that, he didn't know his way around the 9' pocket tables.

I believe we lost New York Blackie this year, too. Since I don't know his real name, maybe he's on the list already, but I just don't know.

Al Bonife was his name. RIP Blackie.

Steve Knight from England never spent more than a few months over here at a time. The American Steve I am pretty sure I know who you are talking about and his name was Scotty.
He rab around the table and was incredibly funny. Shot as straight as a rifle and fired em all.

Anyone wanting to hear an incredibly funny story about him PM Me because i would get barred for this one.

Herb Wilmot? Geez, what happened there? I didnt know he had passed. He was really great when I was first playing on the tour. He had great advice, and really tried to help in any way he could to keep you playing your best.

He will be missed.....

You are so right as he didn't know his way around the 9 ft tales, but the guy surely could put some crazy balls down.

He was a funny, funny guy though. He just kept me in stitches with every utterance.
