Trying to get to the bottom of this whole Walden thing

You're thinking of a Harry Chapin song.

The Banana song.

Apparently, I just hit 10 K posts. I was thinking of saving it for something else but I have a true life story about the Banana song so this actually makes it appropriate.

I didn't post at the time, but what aroused suspicions for me in the very first post from furiousintexas was when they claimed that James' ex-girlfriend said (in a telephone conversation) that she would try to pay back James' debt when she got a job. That just doesn't make any sense. No ex-girlfriend in the world is going to offer to pay back their ex-boyfriend's debt that had nothing to do with them. No ex-wife would ever make that offer either. And it is even more absurd when said ex hates James' guts. No way she is going to say I will pay back a debt that isn't mine, for an ex I hate with a passion.

Trying to make James' ex sound like a saint does makes sense if the poster, Furiousintexas, is actually the ex herself. While trying to slander your ex, you might as well slip in a couple of things to try to make yourself seem like a saint at the same time...

Gokie is too busy flying around the skies in his airplane to notice.

Guy must have in enuff hours for an Airline B by now.

Hes on his second plane since I last talked to him and I bet that he has upgraded since. I bet hes hanging around with John Travolta.

Joke

All joking aside, I think this now has killed anyone's future chance of getting a stakehorse here.

Lots of folks saying they knew it all the time, I don't believe them.

I was actually thinking about it when the thread was running. Fortunately, my wife has more sense than me, and said hell no. Rather, she's not the gambling type. But I can genuinely say...that I would not even consider at any price, backing someone after this fiasco...such a shame.

As it was unfolding, I found myself thinking...if a player is on his last dollar, and either broke, or unwilling to bet on himself, why would he be any kind of favorite to show up, and play well. A great player who is buried in financial ruin, unable to cover the trip, can't be in the best place mentally, I don't think it would be a good bet.

So, I believe that you are right, I don't think we'll see any backing going on for a while.

AZ, I can tell you the real life story of the Banana song.

It really happened to a truck driver bud of mine.

It was a comment I made after the Taxi comment.
And it was 30 thou of bananas.

It was a real life story. It involved 2 18 yr old truck drivers, a bag of pot and Harry's banana song. Probably not that funny as you would have had to be there on the spot to appreciate it fully.

My friend and I were those young truck drivers. And it involved a tractor trailer unit full of bananas.
