Who likes a darkhorse to go deep and possibly win the 35th US Open?

I'm going with Lo Li Wen.

Li Wen is another unknown killer from Taiwan. He's not exactly unknown in Asia, but I suspect that many here have no idea how good this Guy plays.

Anyone else wanna throw a horse in?

Eric

Lo Li can play.....I watched him run a 150 during practice at the worlds 14.1 like it was nothing !!!!

Lo li got 2nd in this past US Open 10ball. Once un the finals, his game slowed down to an allay stop and he couldn't get out. He picked up the pace and should have won.

Brandon Shuff is my dark horse although I think he finished 17th last year or year before.

Brian in VA

the darkhorse is one of my favorite aspects of the Open. Seems like every year there is an unexcpected top 5er...

Looking forward to this year's lucky guy...or gal?

Eric,

He can play for sure. He ran a five or six pack in 10 ball against Corey Harper in Las Vegas.

Chris

Definitely Lo, he is dominant in pro tournaments in Japan, where guys like Antonio Lining and Ramil Gallegos are regulars. Before this year, its likely that he was the best player that was almost completely unknown to the US. The guy plays world class pool, a few major titles are definitely in his future.

So he is NOT REALLY a darkhorse :grin-square:

Donny The Machine Mills is a good dark horse pick. He has a job, dont care how good people think you play, if you have a job you will always be at a huge disadvantage to these guys. Him running so deep in the tourney so often is just as impressive as Mika winning this thing twice IMO. Give Cliff Lee a day job and see how he does.

Valid point. We americans probably see less of the giant kill-able Asians than any other pool playing region in the world.

Being I pull for USA first, I'm gonnna try and buddy up to Lo and overserve some saki to him! ;) Does that make me a bad person?

Here's some past US Open darkhorses that have placed well:

Donny Mills
Chris Bartram
Louis Ulrich
David Broxson
Sylver Ochoa
