USBTC Professional or not?

How does that equal you getting "slammed"?

do you think because mark or jay just posted the op poster is justified on coming here and slamming Stevie? Do you, Jay or mark think its cool to post a dispute in public like you have? im sure every player will now keep his mouth shout now for fear of some "bully tournament guys" or Jay coming on here and trashing them personally over a dispute at the table! hows that?

I don't care one way or the other who slams who in public. Stevie said his piece, the OP said his piece, you, myself, JCIN, Mark, Jay, and many others have said their piece.

I also don't think the dispute was so much an "at the table" dispute. It's not like they argued a bad hit or something silly like that. Stevie insulted a few people in the pool biz who didn't deserve to be treated like that. We could argue the point about coin-op tables being good or bad all day, but this particular thread is about the way Stevie handled the situation. Defend his actions at your own risk.

Yep Stevie said his peace at the table and everyone else said it here with personal insults in public. Stevie is also in the pool business and Stevie felt he should not be treated the way he was also and spoke up. I see Jay post negative about Stevie and earl in this thread and I see jay, more on the management side of things, he has great things to say about them in this thread. Maybe Stevie is right that certain people are trying to keep the pro players down or in line?

I was just trying to give a different opinion to the thread so it wouldn't be so one sided and was not looking for a argument, but i also believe in an eye for an eye when it comes to message board personal attacks most of the time.

Stevie started the whole thing in PUBLIC on a live stream. IF he wanted this to stay private he should of acted like a man and voiced his problem face to face with the man in charge who was RIC.

What did Jay say negative about Earl. He said Earl acts a fool at times, Well no S--t everyone on earth knows that. It's a fact and nothing more.

This is starting to sound like MArty, he has a train you know "get on board".

i watched those streams and never hear what a player is saying at the table...i could keep this going on and on if i want and could find faults for both sides.People are now thinking of what went wrong and maybe some good will come of it all.

added: now your trying to get personal eh

I watched the stream and heard everything Stevie was ranting about. Two facts remain:

Stevie started this mess by insulting and cursing not only his opponent, but the tournament organizers and live-streamers.

Stevie was out of line by doing that instead of simply having a conversation with the TD about his issue.

With that being said, Stevie does have a good reputation and everything might clear up just fine. Also, you may be right about this thread being unnecessary. But that still does not justify Stevie's actions.

i posted long ago that Stevie had a lapse in judgment with his timing?

Is this a question?

I will ask you this if you think he had a lapse in judgement:

Why are you defending his actions????? Admit that he was out of line, and move on. You will feel a lot better.

Poor handling of issue

I don't have a particular opinion on the tables since I haven't been to Reno for years. But I do know this; if someone was to have the same rant Stevie had at my workplace, he would be written up and placed on notice. There's no call for that kind of behavior anywhere. If he wants the stakeholders (tournament director, streamers, promoters, pros and yes, the dead money players) to respect his feelings/opinions, act as a professional and get the message out in a courteous manner. Simple as that

There really is no condoning of Stevie's behavior. However, I wonder if he is growing increasingly frustrated with his decision to become a pro player. It is probably wearing thin on him- the constant life on the road, no real financial rewards, loneliness, etc. Perhaps it all just boiled to the surface in this instance.

I don't know him, so I'm just speculating about what life must be like for a mid-level pro. I mean even the top level players in the US find it to be big struggle- I've read on these forums Corey Deuel can't even get a sponsor and he is a superior player to Stevie.

After a few PM I want to point out that in no way was I condoning Stevie's antics.. I was simply stating an opinion regarding having to pay when being asked to perform on the stream/tv table.... I guess all and all until the Pro players start acting like professionals we are going to continue to have dirty laundry aired in front of God and all of the Fans....

Congrats to Mark and Staff for yet another successful USBTC..... And as for Kenny there's not much that can be said.. He has proven time and time again that he gives 110% everytime he is called on to Direct or Referee one of these events...... He even finally remembered my name the last day of DCC announcements and Fleming had to quit telling me I was still just a nobody

Here's to seeing you all at SBE or Tunica......

Thanks Champ. It's good to know we are all entitled to our opinion, as long as we agree with you.

You got me there... I didn't come to the USBTC.... Been to the last 4 Opens... Guess I missed you there.... Masters 10Ball... Was right there front row.... DCC every year I can get there.... Music City Open... YOU BETCHA.... TN Amateur... Nope they charge quarters and not greens fees I just don't like having pocket full of change...... Misc Viking events used to be the norm and GSBT as often as work allows.........

I am PONTIFICATING as an actual person who does attend as many events as my budget and schedule allows and actually play in ones close enough to me to be economically viable...........

Greens fees to me will always be the best way to handle the quarters/tokens issue...

But even without the greens fee lets look at the TV table from a good business model and not from the standpoint of someone pontificating on the internet who attends but doesn't play in any events......

In events where there will be no DVDs produced or there is no PPV and where there may or may not be advertising sold by the streamer how do you NOT at least pay the table tokens for your 2 center stage performers???

I am not a fan of the rockstar attitudes of some of the pros that think they should get paid to be streamed but I do think that IF you are put on the TV table it should at least not cost you to play since they are using your performance for the benefit of the stream and tournament.....

I have lots of respect for Mark and I am 100% sure that you are correct in that when it all shakes out he will make the best decision for all involved parties... I just wish I had gotten to meet Sunny as well last month.........

Lighten up man. I was talking about people who always have an input in threads like these but never actually go to any events. If you think thats you then you are who I'm talking about. If you think it's not then you are not who I am talking about. If you really want to talk about who has travelled more for pool in the last five years we can do that I guess but it would be pretty boring.

Please remember I am the guy who asked for the table to be open in the first place. The "one pays they all pay" point is a valid one. You, me and everyone else can choose to agree or disagree with it. I don't agree with it but I drive on and do my job. Like most adults.

i was just trying to show there is always two sides to a dispute. Stevie was getting verbally assaulted with no defense. I would do the same thing for you. However you came in and tried to bottom line the thread and say this is how it is and was. I did not do that.I like your stories jay, but you and some others are not the "be all end all" if that's what you think. I am not afraid to give my opinion even if it turns out to be wrong and even if i stand alone and even if its against you or Dr Links or anyone else on this board.

This thread has turned from you defending Stevie to you defending yourself. Here's a newsflash...NO ONE IS ATTACKING YOU!
