very slow

Just a heads up to the powers that be on this forum: every day now I am getting everything from a very slow response to nothing at all when I try to navigate around the various forums/threads. Not all the time, but certainly enough to make it very frustrating sometimes. I have tried other sites just to make sure its AZ and not my connection or PC and I have no problems at other places. Thanks for listening, cheers.

Before there are 872 post saying it was slow....I think it was the server, and it was slow for everyone.:(

I usually just cry for a few minutes and swear at my computer, but it is soon back to normal and I am good to go.

Just for the record... I own and maintain a php message forum very similar to this. The down time happens when all of the databases on the server are being hit harder than the server can handle.

short of moving the board or upgrading the server, we all just need to be patient (actually do something at work) when this happens.

all of the above is just a guess based on personal experience.

Rebel netizens that have learned how to slow servers down, with group attacks.

If you are the IT of AZ there isn't much to do. It is the same thing that happens to American government sites.

If it is an attack and the source is variant then the response by AZ is limited, if the attack is from the same IPs do they deserve a block?

(actually do something at work) You are kidding right?
Sometimes it's as slow as 2 half blind 80 year old men playing one pocket.

It's been an ongoing issue.

However, I do remember the early days of AOL. Sometimes it used to take 2 hours to get signed on, a page would take a minute or two to load, and it would boot you off in 10 minutes.

My how times have changed.

again, I'm basing this on my personal experience and have no idea what the setup for az is. If, this board/website is hosted on a server that maintains multiple databases then there is nothing the az staff can do short of moving their database.

if theirs is a dedicated server, my guess would be blame it on break time and all of the political (non pool related) threads. :)

Now I've got work to do... (practice time)

The last few days it has been slow. Maybe if everyone would donate a couple of bucks by becoming a "member" of the site we get so much enjoyment from they'll have enough capital to upgrade the server.

done

ok Mr. Hoppe, i just got a 6 month membership. Thanks for reminding me. Now I can ***** and moan without feeling so guilty lol

Based on a Tracecert it looks like it's being hosted out of London. Connection seems to lag at the last leg or so of the route.

Possible a problem with the hosting provider?

Cheers,
Brad
