Wade crane killed in car wreck last night

I just spoke with Wade's sister, Kay Nuchols in Robbinsville N.C., and here is the latest:

Wade's daughter in Texas has still not signed the release for Wade's brothers and sisters to carry him to Robbinsville to finally have closure. His daughter's husband had spoken to Wade's neice and had led them to believe she was going to sign the release but so far that has'nt happened. The family is still making every effort to get her to do this without getting into a possible long legal battle. Miss Nuchols seems like a very nice and humble person whose family doesn't deserve to be put through this. Wade's body remains at the U.T. medical center.

Miss Nuchols told me that her daughter had spoken to officer Shaw of the Knoxville police Dep't who was first on the scene of the accident, and he said the death was caused from the accident due to blunt trauma to the head, from hitting the concrete barrier. He also told them Wade was not wearing a seat belt.

As for the money for Wade's burial fund she said she had received one check for 100 dollars and one for 25 dollars. I will be putting her a check in the mail tomorrow and I hope that some others on here will chip in whatever you can afford and let's get this thing done for this good and humble family.

Miss Nuchols said for me to thank everyone for her for all the nice things that people have said about Wade and the family would never forget it.

Here is her address, and be sure to put on the memo on the check for Wade Crane burial fund.

Thanks everyone

There should be at least two checks for $100. I sent one on 12/31 and Jam sent one the same day.

Jay, maybe your check hasn't reached her yet but she did say she had received a check from Keith McCready from Washington D.C. for 100 dollars and one 25 dollars from someone from Knoxville.

Thanks
Mack Turner

Frankly, I'm surprised that is all that we on AZ could muster for Billy. I'd like to think a few more people could pitch in to help with his final internment. It's the least we can do for him. There are a lot of posts from people on here saying what a good friend Billy was to them. I would think this is a time to show some gratitude for that friendship.

I am at a loss for words. The many people on this thread who voiced their good words about Wade Crane and his legacy in pool and now this. How sad this is.

I guess "Mike Tyson vs. Butterbean" competition is what pool is all about in 2011.

Stick a fork in me because I'm done.

There should be another one coming from Knoxville as well.

Thank goodness there are, indeed, some kind people in this pool world like you.

It is amazing to me how much smack talk there is about gambling on the rail, as if those who can stack it high as the Georgia Pine are big shots in the pool world and those who don't gamble are no good. It's sickening to read about it ad nauseum on this forum. Gee, what a shame it is that they can't afford a sawbuck in Wade Crane's memory, but they can boast about how many tens of thousands of dollars they are willing to put up to prove their opinion is right about which pool player will win a match-up. It makes my blood boil.

As an aside, I did receive word that one gentleman sent a check to the funeral home for $200. Also, an anonymous donor is going to send $250 in a money order. This is all hearsay, but I believe these two veteran members of this forum when they said they are going to follow through or already have followed through with sending funds.

He got me from the beyond...

Even tho I declared a bite moratorium on BJ back at the Gulfport 1pkt tourn years ago with Truman Hogue as my witness, the man (BJ)has managed to get me from the beyond. Many people dont know that he was the greatest in so,so many areas, God love him. I have been trapped into doing the right thing. So be it. RIP pal.

I feel REALLY guilty for laughing my ass off at this post. God help me.

Just the way you worded that was pretty funny. I'm sure Mr Johnson would give you a grin and a wink if he could! A little levity in a very sad thread is good for the heart.

Bump for Wade Crane's memory. Please find it in your heart to help his family give him a proper burial. The thought of his body alone on a cold slab in Knoxville, TN, waiting to be moved to Robbinsville, NC is quite sad. If I could afford it, I swear I would pay for the whole thing.

Thanks to those who took the time to mail a check.

Thanks to an AzBilliards member who prefers to remain anonymous, I am expecting a money order tomorrow for, I think, $200 or $250, which I am going to immediately send to the family. You know who you are, and if you read this post, your generosity warms my heart and has renewed my faith in my fellow man in the pool world.

RIP, Wade Crane aka "Boom-Boom" and "Billy Johnson"

Here is the picture from his Facebook page.

The $250 cashier's check just came via Federal Express. We are going to send the money to Wade Crane's sister, Kay Nuchols, today via postal delivery.

I am writing it here in this thread, so that if any of Wade's family is following this thread, they can be assured that another $250 is on its way to them from D.C., going out today.

Thank you to the AzBilliards' forum member for this kind and generous contribution.

JAM, I would like to personally thank you, along with Jay and Freddy for keeping Wade's tragedy and burial expense problems in the limelight on these forums. I know all three of you have a lot of clout on these forums, and people have responded to you guys request to raise money for this cause. You all three seem to say the right things to get everyone kickstarted.

Wade was not only a great player, but one of the true great characters this game will ever know. He was always very funny and entertaining, through good times and bad, for us who were lucky enough to be close friends with him.

Freddy, when you said that one time all of you guys were hanging around Cornbread Red and Wade made the statement that, Boys we better enjoy him while he's here because when he's gone there will never be another one like him, well ditto goes for you Wade, and I did enjoy him while he was here and I will miss him immensely.

Again, Thanks to you three especially, and to everyone else who has helped out during this bad time for Wade's family, from me and all of Wade's Atlanta pool buddies.

There will also be another $100 coming from Las Vegas. I've been meaning to do it but there was a post wanting everyone to wait - then it got lost in the shuffle.

Thanks to JAM once again!!

OMG, I love, love, love that Blind Alabama Boys with Susan Tedeschi video. That was very, very cool!

You know, everywhere I look now, that Tim McGraw is happening. Whether singing or in the movies, he's making the rounds. Thank you for sharing that video, Please Remember Me. I really did enjoy it.

BTW, Wade's sister, Kay Nuchols, sent us a lovely card thanking us. It said, Your thoughtfulness will not be forgotten and was greatly appreciated. Your check to help with Wade's last expenses was received and greatly appreciated. This has been a tragic loss for our family. We loved him dearly, and he was certainly one of a kind. His humor could always bring sunshine on the darkest of days. We will not forget your kindness during this loss. Thank you, Wade's Sister, Kay Nuchols.

We also sent her a second check after the first one which came from an anonymous AzBilliards' member. I know this family is so appreciative.
