watch this 16 year old put a 6pack on corr

I'd like to see how many people can do that on tables of any sized pockets under those conditions.

Not many.

But the poster who said "look out men's tour" based on a string of racks involving repeated shots that shouldn't have dropped, and repeated substandard positional plays that would end a lot of runs, was deluded.

Of course you're right that against Karen Corr in such a pressure-filled situation, running 5 racks to come from far behind to lead the match, and then closing it out at your next opportunity, is a hell of an accomplishment for any player. But what I saw was not evidence of the level of control and accuracy that would allow one to win against pros very often.

I watched it live on the stream also and I believe she beat Shu Han Chang in that tournament also. I hope Shu Han Chang plays in the US Open, then we'll see how she would do against the men pros. Everytime a woman like Jasmin, Shu Han, Yu Ram Cha, this girl, or others like her are discussed on here the last few cavemen come out of their cave to protect their mancave game that's stuck in the 1960's. Yeah, well the pockets were 4.5" and she was playing for the World Championships in her home country and down against a World Champion when she did it.

I'd like to see how many people can do that on tables of any sized pockets under those conditions.

I watched it live as it happened.

If you don't think that there are world beaters here in China then bet against them in any tournament match you see them in and see how well you do.

I am betting against 98% of AZ members to run a six pack on any table.

100 % agree- A M E N!

But we both know that there are soooo many ppl who personally shot soooo many times 6 games in a row out *rofl* (no matter if under pressure or in training-solo for sure 11 racks and more :p)

I enjoyed this match so much- shasha is extremly talented and she has such a quality in her fundamentals...amazing. Love to watch her playing,

She looks pretty good to me but i dont knwo about playing that tough over here. Sure yoru game is the same wherever you go but the players here are from all over the world.. Not just their particular country.

The fact that she's only 16 is the major factor. The main problem i see between the Men and the Women is the fact that teh Men will take harder shots (and make them with position) instead of opting for the safety. Teh break could also come into qeustion but we can all thank Corey Deuel for the introducution of the NO SOFT BREAK rule. The whole hard break factor just plain bothers me

To be honest JT this discussion of women being able to play as well as the men and whatever else fits in to that category is kind of useless. It has being a reoccurring theme in many posts. Whatever happens in the U.S open this year will be a good sign of whats what. Of course it wont settle anything but I mean we can all argue over opinions or we can see what happens in the next few opens.

I personally believe that at least for the next decade a women will not win the U.S open. You may feel the exact opposite and both opinions are fine, if a women wins I will gladly admit I was wrong.

I am however with you that people who go on about how women can't play as good or whatever else are not really contributing anything to the discussions because they are just opinions but it bothers me just as much when the guys get all pumped up over Jasmin or whatever girl that is playing well right now. Let the next couple opens show what's what because since I started reading these posts about this topic, no one has seen eye to eye and they are kind of tired.

so when you speak of the "mancave" I agree but some men also need to stay away from the womens rights support group as well.

so In short I agree it is a tired topic that some people need to get over.. and if a women does happen to win I am ready for the I told you so's lol.

"so when you speak of the "mancave" I agree but some men also need to stay away from the womens rights support group as well."

LOL. I have to agree I do get on the womens rights support group over the top most of the time. But I never said on here that I thought a women would win the US Open. I have said, and still believe that the top women can do well in the Open. You will see on here that I will put my money where my mouth is when the Open comes around. I won't be betting the women in it against the very top men, but I will be betting them against the 2nd tier pro men. I shouldn't have any problem getting action as many, many on here say the top women can't beat a good mens regional player. Johnnyt

haha no no I didn't mean you specifically and I also didn't mean to suggest you said a women would win it. Was just saying they are only opinions that are harmless and make for good conversation. Since we are on that note though :P (I have been saying this for a few months, it just so happens he won the 10 ball event) I think lee van corteza is going to win the open... although I hope Mills does.

World Champ

Very impressive play, especially from a 16y/o.:) Bet she will be over here sometime soon.

I can drink a 6-pack while playing at any table :)

Well, Allen, he *did* say "run a six-pack" -- so that means you have to *run* and drink that six-pack. Can you do that without tripping or running face-first into the nearby wall?

:p :D

I totally agree with you, she made me scratch my head a few times.

Not to take away anything from her, very nice work I must say.

This girl is very talented, especially for being 16.but to tell the men to watch out is really premature.I have been watching the womens tour for years now but the guys are just so much better.Maybe a women will step up one day and win a major over the guys but for the foreseeable future I doubt it.BTW Johnny T, shouldn't she be in the kitchen?J.K.
As for Cory duel stopping the soft break,i still don't understand why you can't use a soft break. Its part of pool,I give him kudos for coming up with it.

i'm a huge mika/svb fan but even watching their matches i don't see them stringing 6's a lot. a bunch of 3's but i've never seen a 6. i bet he's done it before but this girl's only 16 and she's doing it already. she could be the female efren

i dident make this post so some of u can cridicise her shes 16 an she beat a world champion female so what if she bobbled some shots an it still went. i seen SVB bobble some shots i seen many male champions hit the Rail an still make the shot on tight pockets

i just wanted to show this young girls talent but few of u all u wanna do is say how bad she shot an she got lucky u dident say that in somany words but anyways .i thought she shot really well

a lot of people seem to be taking that for granted. she's got real talent!

She had no problem setting up for that combo - I'm sure I would have played it different; bring whitey up the head rail for the chance at the two ball in the side. How she chose to play this worked out real nice for her and it spoke to her confidence in her combo making ability.

Also, there has been references made here to the likelyhood that if this were played on a table with tighter pockets, she may not have faired so well. Is it possible that she could tighten up her shots if needed for different playing conditions (e.g. tighter pockets)?

She did a heck of a job and as Robley said, Karen Corr ain't no pushover.

I was/am impressed.

Best,
Brian kc

None of those 5 racks she ran would have been successful on a tight table. She rattled balls badly all over the place that dropped. Also, her CB control would leave quite a lot to be desired if she were playing against the pros.

-Andrew

What video were you watching? Almost every shot goes dead center in the pocket. There were 3 shots that touched a titty and dropped without rattling. And a GRAND TOTAL of 2 shots that rattled and went in. The final rack of the runouts the 1 ball and the 9 ball rattled and went in, THAT'S IT.

The opening game she won and the next 4 racks she ran NOT 1 ball rattled and went in and 90% of the shots went dead center in the hole without touching anything.

What a brilliant performance against maybe the best woman player in the world in the final of a major championship.
